Book tastes

I like radical books, especially nonfiction but fiction is good too. Feminist, environmentalist, anti-racist, history of atrocities and struggles, indigenous, sociology, etc. Obscure is good! I'd hope to get something I never could have expected.

Don't get this!

Please nothing "sex positive", postmodernist or trans activist.

Other notes

I strongly prefer something from a woman author!

seongeona: I think we are twins in our feminist perspectives and I feel this book would be perfect -

Female Erasure: What You Need to Know About Gender Politics War on Women, the Female Sex and Human Rights by Ruth Barrett.

Also recommend these -

A Little Matter of Genocide: Holocaust and Denial in the Americas 1492 to the Present by Ward Churchill.

The Ways of My Grandmothers by Beverly Hungry Wolf.

Braiding Seeetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

Pure Lust: Elemental Feminist Philosophy by Mary Daly.

Outercourse by Mary Daly.

ChessFanatic: A female writer that writes "Obscure" books: Gina Ranalli

She has roughly 10 or so books out. I've read 4 of them. She's good if you are into weird stuff:

Chemical Gardens - Basically the Wizard of Oz on drugs

Wall of Kiss - A novella where a woman falls in love with the wall in her apartment (or house, don't recall which)

Suicide Girls In The Afterlife - Been a while and I don't recall which other book this is a weird version of, but I want to say it's tied to something like "Staircase to Heaven", or something like that?

Mother Puncher - A book on population control in a very weird manner. A man is given the job to throw a punch at anybody that gives birth. You can have children all you want, but each time, after delivery, this hired guy has to punch you, as a way of discouraging you from having too many children - again, a very weird manner of population control. janineknapp: It was so fun looking for a book for you! We share many similar interests, and I found future reads for myself while browsing your library and looking for a book to gift you. I hope what I've chosen is enjoyable and interesting to you. If for some reason you do not get it, please message me. I want to ensure you have something unique to read in the new year. Happy Holidays! (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 11:20:13 -0500)

lorannen: Removed Desert Cabal (9781937226978) due to budget. Replaced with ChessFantatic's suggestion Suicide Girls in the Afterlife (9780692393147).

Done. (Sat, 08 Dec 2018 16:38:58 -0500)
