Book tastes

Varied. History, fiction, essays, biography, classics, books about books, poetry, comics, I read them all. My LT account is usually well up to date.

Don't get this!

Anything written in a Nordic language - I'll be able to read the original, or at least find a good translation.

Other notes

I always like to ask about books from authors I have not yet read, or at least aspects of authors I've yet to discover. I prefer fewer books of good (material) quality over more and cheaper.

Secret Santa

andejons's Secret Santa is riverwillow. Help riverwillow pick the right book.

xenophon: books about books - Harold Bloom for highly opinionated views or Michael Dirda for a gentler viewpoint (Sat, 24 Nov 2018 12:44:02 -0500)

Capybara_99: A book about books: The Library Book by Susan Orleans. (Tue, 27 Nov 2018 01:08:59 -0500)

luzie: Since he likes the Aubrey-Maturin series I would recommend This Thing Of Darkness by Harry Thompson. (Tue, 04 Dec 2018 17:16:01 -0500)

riverwillow: Hi andejons I hope you like my choices. I followed luzie's suggestion and got you This Thing of Darkness because it is a book I've read and really enjoyed. My second selection for you is Scoop, it not a book about a book, but it is a book about journalism, and is a classic. As you have three of the 'Queens of Crime; in your library, I thought it was time for your to meet the fourth, Margery Allingham. I see you have some Wilkie Collins in your libary, so I added Armadale, which is one of my favourite by Collins. If I can add up (and Book Depository don't change their prices) I noticed that while you have Austen, Thackeray etc in your library, you don't have any Trollope, I think you might like him, so I've added the The Warden (the first of the Barsetshire novels) as a bonus. I really hope you enjoy your books as much as I've enjoyed looking at your library. (Tue, 04 Dec 2018 19:58:57 -0500)

riverwillow: Apologies Lorannen very kindly let me know you already had a copy of Scoop, I missed this while I was searching through your library. Its been replaced with Possession, which is a wonderful book. I hope you like it.

lorannen: Removed The Warden (9780140432145) due to budget.
