Historical Fiction is my favorite genre. I love a well written book that makes you sorry to leave it’s world or breaks your heart a little. Some of my favorites include All Quiet on the Wester Front, The Thornbirds, Cannery Row, Anne of Green Gables, Ender’s Game, To Kill a Mockingbird, The World According to Garp, Memoirs of a Geisha, My Antonia, This Burns My Heart, the Millennium Trilogy, The Moon is Down, The Godfather, Angela’s Ashes.
Don't get this!
I have a lot of Steinbeck, Amy Tan, and Lisa See. I am not generally a fan of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Mystery.

Cariola: Just a few suggestions (although I see that your gifts have been chosen): Pat Barker has written two wonderful series about World War I: Regeneration, The Eye in the Door, and The Ghost Road all deal with the effects of the war on soldiers and the people in their lives; Life Class, Toby's Room, and Noonday trace the lives of three young art students and how both world wars affect their lives. Her most recent, The Silence of the Girls, focuses on a woman taken captive by Achilles during the Trojan War--it's wonderful! Barker is a wonderful writer and is very insightful into the effects of war on the human psyche. (Mon, 03 Dec 2018 13:23:23 -0500)
