Book tastes

I have an interest it books that are about sexual issues, especially sex addiction and abuse, ranging from memoirs to analyses of causes and solutions. I am also interested in religion books, especially current issues in Catholicism and comparative religion, broadly speaking. There might even be a book that falls under the categories of both Catholicism and sexual abuse...hmmm... For fun stuff, I like to read Star Trek and Doctor Who/Torchwood tie-in books. My LT wish list is an obvious place to start.

Don't get this!

No erotica or sex manuals. While I'm fine with books that contain graphic descriptions of sex, my interest is more academic rather than experimental.

Other notes

I'm also OK with LT or TinyCat merchandise, especially the shirts, stamps, and totebags. So if searching for books about sex abuse makes you uncomfortable, just head over there. My shirt size is XXL.

Secret Santa

neverstopreading's Secret Santa is libraryperilous. Help libraryperilous pick the right book.

starwing: 'The Bishop's Man' by Linden MacIntyre. It's a fictional story about a priest who has spent his career covering up sexual abuse by relocating priests at the bishop's request, and focuses on his mid-life-crisis-esqe internal struggle with his guilt over what he has done. It's set in Canada, and is based on real issues with the Catholic church and sexual abuse coverups in the country. A very dark, but well written, read. (Fri, 23 Nov 2018 09:46:22 -0500)

libraryperilous: The Year of Our Lord 1943: Christian Humanism in an Age of Crisis, by Alan Jacobs, might be a good choice for a book on religion. Jacobs is a wonderfully rigorous thinker. The Kindle version is $9.99 as of this note, but Amazon's prices ever shift. (Mon, 03 Dec 2018 12:25:01 -0500)

ChessFanatic: "Raped: Memories of a Catholic Altar Boy" by Domrzalski? Not sure if this is what he/she means, but it sounds like sex abuse and not erotica. (Mon, 03 Dec 2018 14:51:56 -0500)

genesisdiem: I've not read it myself but this book pops up when searching. 978-1727241099 "Sex and the Serial Killer"

Also, B0053ZHL0E "Blood Lust" maybe? These both seem a bit OTT sensationalised though.

For church and sex, this came up in a search: B0741F8Y3C Sex, Jesus, and the conversations the church forgot

978-0807010358 Sex and the church

978-1138674974 Sex, God, and the conservative church (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 14:54:22 -0500)

libraryperilous: Hey, Cody:

Happy holidays! Here's one on sexual addiction from your wishlist, the Jacobs books I had recommended, and a just-released Doctor Who that hopefully no one else will get you for Christmas.
