Book tastes
Brother Walt read science fiction and fantasy (and horror). He is currently reading the "Clone" series by Steven L. Kent - the only one he does not have is the most recent (Clone Betrayal). He enjoyed "Queen of the Orcs: King's Property" by Morgan Howell and would like the other two in the series. Likes - but has read - all Christopher Moore, Lee child, Charlaine Harris (Sookie series, no interest in her other series). Perhaps an intellectually stimulating non-fiction? He has recently read "Guns, Germs and Steel" and re-read "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom".
Don't get this!
No Kim Harrison or Laurel K. Hamilton - been there, done that (i.e., he's bored with them). Ditto for Barb Hendee, Jim Butcher, etc.
Other notes
He cooks too! Interesting cookbooks? Japanese, Spanish, maybe one on soups? We like soup.... Feel free to email me through LT if you have questions.

franzeska: Food of Japan by Shirley Booth is hands-down the best practical cookbook for Japanese food. (There are many other famous ones, but they tend to have lots of color pictures or not define their terms.) If "Spanish" actually means Spanish, I recommend The Foods and Wines of Spain by Penelope Casas and Oscar Ochoa. If it means from places with Spanish speakers, I recommend Daisy Cooks by Daisy Martinez and The South American Table by Maria Baez Kijac. (Thu, 03 Dec 2009 15:48:33 -0500)
