Aula: Danielle Paige's 'Dorothy Must Die' series, perhaps? R.C. Lewis?

libraryperilous: A very lovely YA historical fantasy is The Perilous Gard. It was a Newbery Honor book, but the language and plot read more like YA than MG. I see it's categorized as a teen book on Amazon as well.

Danielle Dutton's Margaret the First might appeal to someone who loves to read classics and historical fiction. I don't recall any content that might be deemed age-inappropriate. It's about carving out space for yourself, as a woman, in a world that resents that. Margaret Cavendish was kind of a real-life, 17th century mix of Lizzy Bennet and a Brontë heroine.
