I like literary fiction, narrative non-fiction, short stories *IF* they are really good, and--I hesitate to say this because there's a lot of crap out there, but--young adult fantasy. And the occasional bit of something pulpy. Basically I like anything that moves quickly and has either lots of plot or excellent characters. Preferably both! I also love true ghost stories and the occasional self help book, especially really modern and science-based parenting topics, and also good reads abotu social issues. Check out my profile on Goodreads for a better idea of what I'm into. These are some of my fave reads lately to help illustrate: Circe The Raven Cycle Winternight Trilogy Red Queen Series Unwind series The Witches: Salem 1692 You Think It, I'll Say It Vampires in the Lemon Grove I'll Give You the Sun Crazy Rich Asians The One (John Marrs) Children of Blood and Bone Little Fires Everywhere Guns, Germs, and Steel Sing, Unburied, Sing All Our Wrong Todays Olive Kitteridge Under the Black Flag The Woman Who Would Be King Daring Greatly Happier at Home The Opposite of Spoiled Unconditional Parenting Just Mercy Hillbilly Elegy Lafayette in the Somewhat United States
Don't get this!
Not a big fan of hard mysteries
mermaidatheart's Secret Santa is 3bythesea. Help 3bythesea pick the right book.
N1na: Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado is a great collection of short stories.
Along the same lines as Circle, I really enjoyed The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker this year. (Mon, 03 Dec 2018 19:00:07 -0500)
