Comments/suggestions

Morteana: Anything by Amy Rose Capetta - she already has Echo After Echo on Calibre, but she's a strong LGBTQ+ voice in YA fiction. Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli as well. (Sat, 01 Dec 2018 11:31:10 -0500)

mmseiple: I would recommend Generations by Flavia Biondi. It's an Italian graphic novel in translation with LGBTQ+ themes. (Sat, 01 Dec 2018 18:11:36 -0500)

pantsu: For an excellent (positive) LGBTQ themed graphic novel, I cannot rec Ngozi Ukazu's "Check Please: Hockey" enough!!! (you don't need to know anything about hockey to read it....it's about a figure skater who moves north from GA to attend college and play hockey. He also bakes pies. The art is wonderful and the story very sweet. This volume has the first 2 years of Bitty's story. (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 17:11:51 -0500)

rodneyvc: The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 19:23:34 -0500)

Tropical-Library: Central Station or anything else by Lavie Tidhar -- great Israeli writer (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 19:26:04 -0500)

Cfraser: I enjoyed a boy in winter by Rachel Seiffert - holocaust book. I am not sure about the Santa's library as contains nearly 20000 books, 10 000 of those were in Calibre, including this one, unsure what that means though (it wasn't in "your library") (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 19:44:04 -0500)

SqueakyChu: A Blessing on the Moon by Joseph Skibell is an interesting read. I'd include it with Holocaust literature although it is a novel and contains magical realism. (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 20:19:40 -0500)

wisemetis: Bingo Love is a sweet love story about two grandmothers who find each other at bingo after being forced apart as teenagers. (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 20:22:00 -0500)

thebookmagpie: Any Kirsty Logan but especially Gracekeepers (Thu, 06 Dec 2018 20:25:12 -0500)

libraryperilous: Hi, everyone:

Thanks for all the rad suggestions. I've added, well, all of them to my own TBR.

(Fri, 07 Dec 2018 08:26:18 -0500)

libraryperilous: Happy holidays, alo1224, and happy reading!

Most of my original ideas already were in your library. Lots of the great suggestions from other LTers also already were in your (excellent) library, and I wanted to get you books by authors you don't already have.

So, I went with mmseiple's and pantsu's graphic novel recommendations and one of my favorite books, Under a Cruel Star.

Best,

Diana (Fri, 07 Dec 2018 08:30:40 -0500)

libraryperilous: PS: I couldn't quite make the price points work, but I also considered the science fiction of Peter Hamilton and the poetry of Lucie Brock-Broido. (Fri, 07 Dec 2018 08:34:10 -0500)

libraryperilous: LT Elves:

If prices or stock require substitutions, please remove all three original selections and replace with the following:

Stay, Illusion (Brock-Broido), ISBN 0307962032, CDN 18 (USD 13.43), link

plus one of either:

A Specter Haunting Europe (Hanebrink), ISBN 0307962032, CDN 35.25 (USD 26.31), link

or

Salvation (Hamilton), ISBN 0399178767, CDN 35.92 (USD 26.81), link

NB: The Stay, Illusion! already in the Santee's library is a different topic/author. (Tue, 11 Dec 2018 15:12:08 -0500)

lorannen: Done. (Sun, 16 Dec 2018 19:41:10 -0500)
