Jessm3842's Secret Santa is nackis. Help nackis pick the right book.
ChessFanatic: Looking at their author cloud, I always suggest Vince Flynn to Grisham readers. Term Limits is his first book and is a standalone novel. Transfer of Power was the first in the Mitch Rapp series when I read him back 10 years ago. Now I think there is a prequel or two.
I also see King and Koontz despite the mystery and history request (they are horror). Maybe not best as a Santa item, but more for the Santee, give Bentley Little a go. Best ones by him are The Store, The Ignored (a satire on the life of the average Joe who does nothing spectacular and has no 15 minutes of fame, and so crime is committed strictly for attwntion), and The Association (a stereotype of Urban and Surburban life - poor vs rich - well, a lot of creepy stuff happens in the rich neighborhood). thebookmagpie: I liked He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly for mystery/thriller. (Mon, 03 Dec 2018 09:58:19 -0500)
Peace2: Something by Louise Penny - Still Life is the start of the Chief Inspector Gamache series 9781250068736
The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco by Lauren DiSilverio 9780451470836 (I loved the title when I was hunting for mysteries and am tempted to give it a go myself now!) (Sat, 08 Dec 2018 19:36:42 -0500)
Tropical-Library: Maybe Gil's All Fright Diner, a LT recommendation. https://www.powells.com/book/-9780765350015 (Sat, 08 Dec 2018 19:58:12 -0500)
cbl_tn: The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle 9780141329390 (Sat, 08 Dec 2018 20:09:04 -0500)
cbl_tn: She has Doyle's complete novels, though. (Sat, 08 Dec 2018 20:10:28 -0500)
