As is common, many of the more popular classical peices are arranged so many times that we begin to forget what the composer originally wrote!

An example is Pachelbel's Canon in D.

I'm wondering what arrangements you love or hate (any peice you wish to talk about). ;)

Also, what do you think? Is the arrangement ever better than the original? We could even mention transcriptions, since I can think of a few transcriptions that are much more popular than the original.

Proabably Ravel's transcription of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exibition (aka Tableaux d'une exposition) is more popular than the original.

I have a weakness for Webern's arrangement of Bach's Ricercar (aka Fuga (Ricercata) a 6 voci), though Glenn Gould likened it to a 'Freudian analysis' of the original.
