Can a short story collection and a later, expanded edition (with more stories), be part 1 and 2 of a series?

The Enquiries of Doctor Eszterhazy
The Adventures of Doctor Eszterhazy

The latter book contains all the stories in the former book, plus a few more.

I would remove the series.

I would neither create nor destroy the series. Then again, I've been more flexible about such things than others.

The reason I care is that I almost ordered The Enquiries of Doctor Eszterhazy at a cost of $50 because I am reading the second one and assumed I wanted the first one as well. So I'm very much tempted to remove the series. Although one could of course add a note instead.

Yes, at least leave disambiguation notices.

Remove the series. This is a contains/contained in case, and will be shown as such when Tim switches it to be visible for everyone.
