What pages have you seen that are a little embarrassingly outdated? I'll try to keep on top of the thread and update this first post with a listing of what's mentioned downthread. 2lilithcatHelpThing:Pics needs updating. It does not reflect the change in policy as regards copyrighted images, whereas the related WikiThing page ("Contributing Photos to Librarything") does. 3Aerrin99There is no HelpThing page for Collections (It's WT), but the WT page is linked to a lot from HT, and it's terribly out of date. Hasn't been touched much since they came out. 4rsterlingYou can make any page a HelpThing page by adding {{HelpThing}} at the top. And actually, Collections already is. 5rsterlingBy the way, what's out of date on Collections? Has the feature changed, or are there other features that have changed in ways that affect Collections? 6Aerrin99Well, that depends on what we mean by HelpThing page. It has the template, but it's not in the HelpThing namespace, meaning it doesn't search/narrow like a HelpThing page. I'd have to take a closer look at it - I just noticed awhile ago that bits felt out of date. I seem to recall that it reads like a new feature guide and should be (IMO) tightened up now that it's not new. I'll take a closer look next week if no one else has. 7brightcopyJust to add an clarify. One or more of the following things are sometimes meant when people say "HelpThing page": 1) Pages linked to by the Help link on the top-right 2) Pages with {{HelpThing}} at the top, which are searched by the sitewide search under the HelpThing 3) Pages in the HelpThing namespace, which are returned when you click the HelpThing namespace on the wiki search Did I cover them all? 8jjwilson616> Did you miss the announcement that HelpThing and WikiThing pages are now included in the main LT search? 9Aerrin99No, sorry - let me clarify. If it does /not/ live in the 'HelpThing' namespace, you can still search for it, but it won't show up if you've limited you search. So basically, if you tell the global search 'I just want to search help topics, not the whole wiki', stuff that isn't in the namespace - like Collections - won't show up. This to me is the biggest argument for actually having a separate namespace and for moving things into it (as we're talking about here). So I just read brightcopy's list more carefully above and I see that the search is /not/ using the wiki parameters (meaning my rambling about limiting only applies to an in-wiki search, not the site-wide search), so my desire becomes a little less firm! I left the struck out stuff in case anyone was desperate to know where my confusion came from. I think I will go talk about this more in the other thread so as not to derail this one more. Sorry! 10brightcopy9> No problem. The conversations we had on that thread yesterday were very helpful in figuring things out. I had some assumptions that didn't quite fit with reality, either. I'm posting a recap on that thread just to avoid derailing this one. | Group: HelpThing and WikiThing9 members 170 messages AboutThis topic is not marked as primarily about any work, author or other topic.
