1EelKatDoes anyone in this group have a blog? I love to read blogs, and I'd love to see what the folks here have to talk about. Kind of to see if we have more in common than just books! LOL! Well I'm starting this topic so you guys can post a link to your blog here, so we can all get together and read each others blogs. I love to blog, I love it so much that I have 12 blogs. I might post them all here later but for now Star Log is the one I post on the most, it's my personal blog, where I talk about anything that intersts me, but 9 times out of 10 that means I'm giving advice to new writers, how-to write, why to write, how I write, why I write, you know the drill... here it is EK's Star Log ~~EK 2ScaryguyI don't blog too often - my than likely any writing I'm doing is work. But I do post to my homepage at www.michaelgibb.com. 3bookishbunnyI, too, only put in a rare entry when the feeling moves me. But I'm glad I have it. I don't have any "writer" stuff on it. Just contimplations. http://klystrona.blogspot.com/ 4jchinesMost days, I post at least once ... usually about writing-related subjects. http://jimhines.livejournal.com 5krasiviye.slovaI post reasonably often at my blog -- mostly about theology and religion. lostintheunderground.blogspot.com 6siewmy website address is my name - Writings within the Margins. I blog about books that I've read, bookish stuff in the media, and I'm starting to post stuff I've written, starting with bits and pieces from my thesis. I like to read widely, especially writings from African countries, or about Africa. 8iamrazorwingI'm also ambivalent about how worthwhile the thing is, but as long as I'm having fun with it, I don't see any reason to give it up. iamrazorwing.livejournal.com 9ChristineStefanitsis First MessageI have a blog and find it a worthwhile exercise; I use it as my scratch pad for my work in progress. Although, lately most of my entires have been posted in the EPHEMERA category - a catch all for diversions. You can find me at http://www.chicken-scratch.ca 11pdxwomanMy blog isn't related to the writing I do -- it's just me talking about my life, books, movies, fat, weird things people do...if you're a voyeur (like me!), I also have pics of my house, bookshelves, etc... www.pdxwoman.blogspot.com or www.pdxwoman.wordpress.com 13pdxwomanjensview: terrific -- loved the blog on the lecture you attended about what we can do to save Earth -- I didn't realize my cell phone charger was such a culprit in energy consumption just sitting there plugged in without the phone being charged! 14pdxwomanQuestion: do you worry about putting your *real* writing on your blog? Ramifications for possible publication later on? Someone stealing your work? Something else I haven't thought of? 16jensview#14 I am new to "blogging" and fairly new to writing but yes that has crossed my mind. I have not yet put any of my *real* writing on the world wide web. I have posted on a couple of critique sites however. How about you? (Your blog is great BTW. I hope you kept the *bookmark*!) 17pdxwoman16> I haven't put any real writing up, either. Most of what I've done is short stories and character sketch work, which is easy to filch. If I posted a couple pages here and there out of a longer piece I don't think I'd be as concerned. Thanks for the positive reinforcement! That's a gift I can always use :-) If, by bookmark, you mean the c-note, I have to admit I gave it back to Rudy... points in heaven? 18kperfettoRe: real writing on your blog I haven't, not really. The closest I've come to posting "real" writing is a few excerpts from my NaNoWriMo story. It was closer to performance art than any real writing I may have done. 19Jakeofalltradeshttp://teenauthorsqb.blogspot.com/ This is my blog, it has various posts I put onto it, including an article I wrote about a talk Terry Pratchett gave in a children's bookshop in Sydney, Australia. Other than that it has information about random pop culture such as reviews of movies I've seen, as well as how my illustration of my first book is going. 20skiegazer3I have a spirituality blog, focused on nature-reverence and creative arts, meditation and personal ritual as praxis: http://meadowsweet-myrrh.blogspot.com/ 21WorldMakerMy blog is a hodge podge of topics ranging from tech things that I'm interested in/working on to the fact that I do post what little prose I actually finish (currently I'm serializing my story "Pirates of the Eastern Standard Tribe"). I post about just about all "real" writing I do, so I'd love to answer any questions you guys have on that topic. Basically, publishing your writing to the web is just as binding as publishing it in a book. Be sure to keep your copyright notice on the website and because the writing is yours (you own the copyright to it) you are free to republish it should a nice book offer come along. It's your right. Another thing to consider is that Copyright (All Rights Reserved) is very restrictive and if you trust your blog users or just want to make sure that in this digital era the cool stuff you write is useful for other people, I would suggest looking into a Creative Commons License (Some Rights Reserved). For instance, I mostly use a license that requires people to acknowledge the work is from me if they republish it somewhere else, to only republish if its for non-commercial use, and allow them to make derivatives (remix, rewrite, edit) my stuff as long as they release it under the same license. 22TheresaWilliams First MessageI blog fairly regularly about living a creative life. I teach creative writing at Bowling Green State University. I have several videos of my students posted at the blog. My URL is: http://theresawilliams-author.blogspot.com/ 23d.homsherWe have just started a cooperative blog, www.yesterdayrevisitedhere.blogspot.com. Talking about historical fiction, written by six historical-fiction authors. Susan Higginbotham Carla Nayland Deborah Homsher Frances Hunter Pauline Montagna Sheri Vangen-Ratcliffe . Visitors welcome! 24EelKat{quote} Message 14: pdxwoman Question: do you worry about putting your *real* writing on your blog? Ramifications for possible publication later on? Someone stealing your work? Something else I haven't thought of? {/quote} yep, all the time, that's why I never post any of my works in progress online anywhere, blog or otherwise also, most editors feel that if you have posted your work on a blog/forum/website to be read publicly, that you HAVE published it already (which in fact is correct), the result is that IF they do choose to publish it in their print editions, than they will treat it as a reprint or second edition and not a first edition. That means that you most likely will not get paid, as very few mags pay money/cash for reprints (I'm an editor, so I know this to be a true fact) what this poster said is true: {QUOTE}I post about just about all "real" writing I do, so I'd love to answer any questions you guys have on that topic. It's your right.{/QUOTE} you are a published writer, even if you only publish on your blog. (an added bonus is that you can tell people you are a published writer; sad part of it is you don't get to hold book signings and autograph a print copy for your fans) stealing your work... yep, I've had that problem; only just last month, I found that a post I had written on my blog (including copyrighted photographs taken by me, for the cover of one of my books!) has been copied and posted on about a dozen or so other blogs, without my permission, and without any back links to my blog, and without any acknowledgement that I was the author of the post or the copyright holder of the photo! (a personal family photo, I might add!)... it seems to be just one person doing this, but as yet, I have been unsuccessful in my attempt at contacting them I've also added this tag to all my blog posts. Well, most of them, I only started adding it this week, so my old posts don't have it. 25BiblioBuffetI don't have a blog, but I do have a web site with (currently) six writers and two in the making. It's called BiblioBuffet, and its motto is "Writing Worth Reading, Reading Worth Writing About." We focus on book reviews, commentary, essays, humor, profiles, interviews, and will even use short stories (though none have been submitted to date) and poetry. As long as it has to do with books, reading or related subjects we love to write about it. http://www.bibliobuffet.com/ 26kperfettoalso, most editors feel that if you have posted your work on a blog/forum/website to be read publicly, that you HAVE published it already (which in fact is correct), the result is that IF they do choose to publish it in their print editions, than they will treat it as a reprint or second edition and not a first edition. Yep. Actually, I learned that doing NaNoWriMo last year. A number of people were posting their novel's progress on their blogs. Re: stealing I haven't had any writing stolen (I don't think), but I have had pictures taken without my permission. (Chagrined -I'll have to accept that I'm more in demand as a photog than a writer, I guess.) I have a Creative Commons license on my work. 27CherylSwansonOkay...eelkat and everyone When you get a minute and can set aside your latest opus, visit our group blog at Ten Mad Authors. Here's the link. www.madten.wordpress.com We're published novelists from various countries. (Mostly U.S., but two Canadians, Belgium, Hong Kong...) Check us out; we try to keep it snappy and helpful and do lots of contests for free books. If any of you would like to do a guest post, leave a note in a comment to one of us. (Be sure to visit and put down your website/blog address in the comment. We're totally happy to let others promote themselves--but try to make a relevant comment as well. Cheryl Swanson, My recent chillerthriller is Death Game 28Heather19I have two blogs, the one on MySpace that I update more-or-less regularly http://www.myspace.com/writerchickr and the one at diaryland (my first ever online-diary, and I just can't let go of it) that I post in roughly twice a month http://anapride.diaryland.com The MySpace blog is where I mention my writing, but I don't post any of it... the only place I post any writings are at members-only forums. Still, there are very few things that I've written that I'd ever try to publish (for various reasons), so I've been toying around with the idea of making a new blog just for posting some of my stuff. 29disembedded First MessageI have a blog that's been around for a while. It's an eclectic and eccentric blog that attracts a fairly large, wide-ranging international audience of readers. Postings and articles on news, political, social and cultural events/issues. Also, humor, photography, photographic and multimedia slideshows, audio, music audio and videos. The site is Et Cetera: Publick and Privat Curiosities: Et Cetera: Publick and Privat Curiosities 31CliffBurnsErm...I was told by the Sf Readers forum that even to ALLUDE to my blog was "pimping". That pissed me off big time but I'll mention my site, which deals with not only my writings but also a whole lot of themes relating to the writing life. It's called "Beautiful Desolation" and it's found at cliffjburns.wordpress.com. Addendum: If I ever run into those SF geeks that called me a pimp, I'll rip their ****ing lungs out. 33ricgerace First MessageI blog at these sites: http://grumpysquirrel.wordpress.com http://grumpylion.wordpress.com http://grumpytiger.wordpress.com http://grumpypanther.wordpress.com http://todayshoroscope.wordpress.com The Squirrel is... humorous. The Lion gets daily entries, mostly reactions to what I'm reading in the newspaper. Decidedly liberal. The Tiger comprises longer, satirical or humorous pieces. The Panther is nicer, but more arcane. Todayshoroscope is a goof. 34saradI do. Sometimes it's about writing. If it's not primarily, there's usually something writing related. http://saradennis.blogspot.com 37Jenson_AKA_DLI have a website and a myspace blog. A lot of my blog has to do with my writing but there is some other stuff thrown in too. I had some writing posted but took that down. On my website I have tried to make it interesting with reviews, recommendations, games, previews, deleted scenes and artwork info. since I couldn't find what I was talking about in my initial post I've taken it out My blog website 38TriciaFoster First MessageLike many others here, I do blog. It began as a daily writing exercise and as a way to work through some ideas for my graduate thesis. http://modernmatriarch.wordpress.com 39Ferox First MessageI do. Actually I have two blogs I use publicly and somewhat often. Everything is linked from here: http://afrayedquill.blogspot.com/ I just revamped the blogspot one so there's not much there yet. Gearing up for Nano (again) and trying to get back into some other writings which have been neglected for all kinds of reasons this past year. 40talltricksterI have a spiritually oriented blog on my website http://www.soundofyoursoul.com I've been been writing articles for on-line sites and submitting articles to magazines and responses to PRleads, so I don't write as much as I'd like to. My book is slated to be published later this fall, so I'm busy setting up links to other sites like librarything.com to hook readers up with the books I quote/refer. 41rosinalippiI have been keeping an author's weblog since 2003. In addition to updates about my books in print, I post a lot about the writing process and the publishing business. Once in a while I also run a virtual workshop -- no cost involved, ever -- and give away books and other things of use to readers and writers. Right now there's a drawing for a manuscript review -- I'll pick one name at random and that person sends me up to 8,000 words of a manuscript for detailed feedback. Stop by sometime. There's a good group of regulars. 42AnthonyGWilliamsYes, I maintain a blog on Science Fiction & Fantasy - it mainly consists of book reviews - at http://sciencefictionfantasy.blogspot.com/ My main reason is marketing my own novels, but I'm finding writing posts for my blog a good discipline! 43jugglingpaynesI blog regularly. It's a new toy for me, I've been doing it since last September. http://jugglingpaynes.blogspot.com/ I know there's a way to make it link, but I'm too tired to figure it out right now. It's mainly about my life as a homeschooling mom and the random thoughts that pop out of my head. I also write a comic strip about homeschooling. My hope is to someday publish a collection of my strips, if only as a keepsake for friends and family. I post the comics because I thrive on the feedback. It encourages me to sit down and work on a few each week for my small but loyal following. It's also a form of therapy for me. It helps me find the humor in the day to day frustrations. And my kids are much better behaved when they know their actions might end up in the comics. 44SimonHaynesI maintain a blog which is mostly about my writing: halspacejock.blogspot.com I also mirror it to halspacejock.livejournal.com. 45detailmuse First MessageHi, mine is Detail Muse (http://www.detailmuse.blogspot.com): Drawing Creative Inspiration from the Everyday Details of Life. It’s a playground where I try to look differently at everyday things and notice what sparks my curiosity ... a mix of photos/anecdotes to inspire story ideas, plus snippets from my writing practice. (edited to clean up link) 46charlottegI blog the books I read on my MySpace page. It is the only blog that I have. http://www.myspace.com/charlottesweb93 47Marva First MessageI'm on MySpace, LiveJournal, and I have my own blog. I mostly use MS and LJ for interaction with other writers and I post interviews, book reviews, and news about my own writing on my blog. I'm open to interviewing other authors if I can think of some intelligent questions. Check the blog and leave a comment if you'd like to talk about an interview or book review. http://mgddasef.blogspot.com/ Friend me on MySpace or LiveJournal: http://www.myspace.com/mdasef http://marvad.livejournal.com/ 49PensiveCatI've got a blog, though mostly I write about tea. Sometimes I review a book or post pics, but I try to stick to the tea theme as much as possible: http://queengata.blogspot.com 50warrick1830After years of not blogging (all my blogs ended up being the same. Me whining about stuff that I shouldn't care about), I've decided to take up a blog with purpose. http://missionobjective.blogspot.com I'm doing something called Mission 101. It's a challenge to do 101 things in 1001 days to change/improve your life/current situation. So I'm trying to use the blog as a means of chronicling my success & failures with it and try to also use it as a more "professional" type blog. But I find that the actual tone I use on an everyday conversational aspect (which is how I write when I blog) is the farthest thing from professional. 51KeithStrohm First MessageI have a blog where I talk about writing, sf, fantasy, current events, life in Chicago, the role of the artist, and other goofier things. You can see it at www.keithstrohm.com. Keith 52JDpirate5I have a blog where I disuss new books, books in my library, books news, and anything interesting I come across :) CrimsonCloudNine.blogspot.com 53kathmandauI am moving into blogging. It seems every trade publication is speaking of the variant future of publishing, relying much more on digital delivery. As a novelist, I am uneasy with how to produce extended concepts through installment.....but it has been done, and will be again. I have "Into The Mist" on my own website, where I mostly answer specific metaphysical questions: http://www.cgwalters.com/into_the_mist.htm I am also working in specific communities such as Yahoo 360 http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-szr4WtI6erLNdV30RDcbWTcm;_ylt=AodwqDsTPl3J3GU8kI7... It was not what I expected once I decided to publish, but it is writing, it is connecting with others through that writing, and it may be the way of things in the time before us. 54rathacat First MessageI'm new to LibraryThing and I am an author who has an Amazon Connect blog for my Ratha series (Ratha's Creature, Clan Ground and sequels.) Since the characters are big prehistoric cats, and the series is set 20 million years ago in the Miocene period, I blog about the research I did for the series, including all the prehistoric creatures that are in the book. I have a website, www.rathascourage.com, a site blog, www.rathascourage.com/scratchlog and I'm on LiveJournal as rathacat. 55moonbridgeI blog at http://moonbridgeblog.blogspot.com/ because all authors are supposed to blog! Blogs help potential readers get to know you and your style of writing better so they may be encouraged to buy your book. Hopefully your blog has a theme that has to do with your books and will offer readers something of interest and use, other than misc ramblings or pushy promo. My blog is about sharing lives to bond with family and friends, and otherwise make a difference in the lives of others. I just started a MySpace account the other day and am just slightly lost in space! I'm at http://www.myspace.com/moonbridge. 56zetteI have one blog that is mostly dedicated to writing called Joyously Prolific. I do post there at least once a week and usually twice. On Fridays, I take part in the Friday Snippets group, so I post sections of something I'm writing or editing. If you plan to read the snippets, remember that the newest ones are the lastest in the book. http://zette.blogspot.com/ The pictures and artwork are all my own s well. 58AlexandraKittyI have two blogs. This is the one where I talk about the books I am writing: http://alexandrakitty.com/blog and this is for the Internet news site I started called Chaser Investigative News Services. This blog talks about me, my thoughts, and each step I go through when I research and write an article: http://chaser-news.com/blog 60whyle First MessageHello fellow writers and bloggers. I hope I'm putting this in the right place. I'm a working writer, living in Johannesburg, South Africa. It's only the internet..." *Click* -Alex 64MokahI blog. Check me out at http://lissasnew411.blogspot.com Make sure to leave comments on your thoughts - you don't have to sign up for blogspot to leave a comment. 65jbhensleyI just started blogging publicly again after years of doing it in private. Here is my blog. http://muuzyq.blogspot.com/ 66JanaOliver First MessageI have blogged for a few years. Mine is a mixture of "here's what an author's life is like" mixed in with some political commentary and answering questions from the local entertainment marketing class at a State Univ. http://www.janaoliver.blogspot.com 67guidebookauthorI began two blogs about a month ago. One is called www.writersandpublishers@blogspot.com and the other is www.travelwritingnandpublishing@blogspot.com. Don't know how to get a blogroll--they only seem to have them on wordpress, not blogspot. Would like to mention other blogs about writing, particularly travel writing, on my blog. 68TeacherDadhttp://quitmyjob-nowwhat.blogspot.com/ I've already checked out a few of the above listed blogs, there is some very interesting and well written blogs up there! 69carpelibris First MessageI love blogging. It got me to stop being afraid to write, and now I blog as a warm-up. I've got two, but the second is very new with only three postings so far. They're http://the-mommy-spot.blogspot.com and http://carpelibris.blogspot.com. 70PolenthI tend to prefer traditional websites for my non-fiction writing, as it's much easier to organise stuff. I do put an occassional blog post up on MySpace though. http://www.myspace.com/polenth 71nmelcherOkay, so I already posted my blog in this thread around six weeks ago, but I have a new series of posts this week with my thoughts on successfully applying to a Creative Writing MFA program and I thought I'd send you that way. The first post is here, and I also mentioned this blog series in its own LT thread. -Nate 72kassetraoh I forgot to post my blog in this group too. oops. I blog about writing, reading, cooking, science and programming... and sometimes just about weirdness. My Sweet Ruby Life 74lketchersidI blog at Dusk Before the Dawn about history, martial arts, science fiction, technology, travel...anything the voices in my head tell me to write. 75BKB First MessageI started blogging a few months ago about children's literature and parenting. My blog is at http://beeskneesbooks.blogspot.com/ I love to write and blogging is a quick way to get down my thoughts. 76quotesqueen First MessageI comment on favorite quotations at http://quotesqueen.wordpress.com. I started it as a way to have a writing practice, because I had been blocked for so long. Hope you'll consider commenting! 78timjonesI have a blog at http://timjonesbooks.blogspot.com. It's mainly about writing and books - mine and others'. It links to my website. 79dgbryantI lampoon the news at http://sawbriar.blogspot.com/. It may not accomplish anything, but it's therapeutic. 80PSheehy First MessageI've started blogging but feel like it's all lost in cyberspace. Not quite sure how people find you and if they're interested. Please check out my blogs: patriciasheehy.blogspot.com givingwithmeaning.blogspot.com I'd love to hear any comments back and what would make either blog more interesting to readers. Thanks — ps 81ostromMusings on poetry, poets, and other topics: http://poetsmusings-muser.blogspot.com/ Good luck with your blog. 84hoshikaze First Messagehttp://hoshikaze.livejournal.com/ I try to post once a week at least, and most of my posts are related to my writing. And the cats make their way in there from time to time. 85CliffBurnsThis isn't my blog but my friend Ron was good enough to tell me about it, a site aptly named http://101reasonstostopwriting.com/ --and here's a short interview with the chap who put it together, a smart lad with wit to burn: http://www.jossip.com/jossiping-with-sean-lindsay-20080108/ I don't add many people to my blog roll but this guy just made the cut. Not for wannabes or the faint of heart. Everybody else will laugh themselves silly... 87CliffBurnsGlad ya liked it, John. I can see a lot of working authors I know, nodding their heads in agreement, pumping their fists in the air... 88adeptmagicI've been a huge fan of Sean Lindsay's for years. I particularly enjoy his "demotivators." http://101reasonstostopwriting.com/category/demotivator/ 89CliffBurnsThanks Adept: I read these and howled. My favorite "demotivator" is this one: "GENEROSITY: Don’t give copies of your book to your friends or family. You’ll halve your market." Sorry, just reading it again...I can't...hahahahahaha... 90adeptmagicI think my favorite is patience ( http://101reasonstostopwriting.com/uploads/2008/01/patiencedemotivatorjun07_n.jp... ), but at various points in my writing, I've had other favorites. Both of the "slushpile" ones are good. 91CliffBurns#90 This is BRILLIANT. I laughed and laughed. I'll get you for this, Adept. It really is hilarious--I hope Mr. Sunseri pops in for a look. 92john_sunseriOh, don't worry, Mr. Burns--I've been working through the blog and all its concomitant wonderworks all day (in between a few thousand words of the new story, which I'm afraid will have to be cut tomorrow when I get to the next section) and I caught 'Patience' a while ago. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. But I wonder... I've been reading the thing, enjoying it, chuckling at the plight of all those poor saps Lindsay's talking about. But--EVERYONE'S probably reading it that way. What makes me think he's not talking about ME? Ah well--back to work on the story. (and have you read reason #14 ((or whatever number it is)) about Dan Brown? If not, look it up posthaste...) 93adeptmagicWhat can I say? They appeal to me on a very sick level. He does have a Cafe Press store, but there's not much there. I'd love to have the ability to buy all the demotivators as coffee mugs--I'd buy a variety of sets for various people I know. If you don't know where they come from, he makes them using a "demotivator maker" from http://www.despair.com, originators of the demotivators. They've been around for years, and if you've ever worked in an office environment where you had to put up with "motivational literature," they'll make you weep with laughter. We put a bunch of the posters up in our academic computing lab and I don't think any of the administrators even noticed they weren't the standard fare. Some of my faves: http://despair.com/incompetence.html http://despair.com/mis24x30prin.html http://despair.com/propaganda.html And...last but not least http://despair.com/stup24x30pri.html 94CliffBurnsOkay, I've gone through the DeMotivators and if Sean doesn't get some kind of prize for hitting the nail on the head more consistently than anyone I can think of, there is no justice. This one....this one is the masterpiece, the creme de la creme: "NaNoWriMo Anyone can be a writer, if you set the bar low enough." I want the t-shirt, mug and poster. John: if you think he's talking about you, then he's probably not. Wannabes are too delusional to recognize themselves for what they are. Kind of like crazy people that way... 95CliffBurnsAdept: ...and now I've gone and clicked on the links in #93 and will be useless for the rest of the morning. I HAVE to stay away from this site. It's got the kind of cruel, honest humour I revere. Like a Bill Hicks punchline--POW! Many, many thanks... 98MurmursOnce you start reading these you can't stop! Another hour or two wasted. :-) http://www.despair.com/un.html 99CliffBurnsI can't get enough of this kind of humour... You're right, I could spend ALL DAY trolling through it, although my stomach would ache so bad I'd end up emptying the Tums jar. Damnit, folks, stop pointing this stuff out to me... 102TeacherDadNot my blog but one I read often and laugh hysterically often. Don't know if she even reads books, but she sure can write... and it's also for a good cause, please check it out! 103writingwoman First MessageHi, of course, I'm a blogger. It's important for writers to be in contact with their readers. I'm blogging in German (with a few english posts), for I'm living in Berlin, but I'm sure, some of you understand German, too. So enjoy reading daily posts of Petra A. Bauer on http://www.autorenblog.writingwoman.de :-) 104john_sunseriWilkommen, Petra. Ich habe drei jahre Deutsche gehlernt--zwanzig jahre zeit. So English might just work best! In any case, welcome aboard. 106belleyangHi, I just started blogging for the first time a few weeks ago. On this new website, www.redroom.com, I am surprised to find that every other new entry is a statement by an author about the strangeness of being a first time blogger. Some people blog with the question, "Why should I blog?" I've found that blogging gives me room to be silly with doodles and stray thoughts, all unlinked and unrelated. It's a great way place to put the trinkets and geegaws that book writing may not allow. I get to post my doodles and cartoons. Cliff, your blog pictures of your studio is really interesting. It is indeed a sanctuary. 107Clueless#76 I like the format of your blog. I do find that simple quotes bring me back into focus. Thanks! 108CliffBurnsbelleyang: Thanks for the comment on my writing space. It is definitely and defiantly MINE, like an externalization of my mind. I've been very happy with the WordPress people, who host my site. Always helpful and quick to respond to questions and problems. Plus they've just upped their limit to 3GB of memory so there's lot of room to grow my blog. Fortunate, because "Beautiful Desolation" will hit 20,000 visits in a very short while (and that's in less than a year). The end of March I'll be posting a full-length novel on my site and I'm very much looking forward to that (though the intensive edits are killing me)... 109belleyangHi, Cliff--I'm enjoying blogging because I get to be so wicked. http://www.redroom.com/blog/belle-yang/slut 110CliffBurnsLooks like fun over there at Redroom. Love the chatty tone of your postings, the immediate familiarity one feels. Nice job! 111zodiacdebI'm glad to know there are people who actually read blogs! I write one for our local paper, but I wonder sometimes if it's worth it. It pretty much mirrors my blog on myspace. http://www.baxterbulletin.com/news/blogs/blog22/index.html I guess I don't know how to make a link. Sorry. The thing I worry about with blogging is that it's by nature casual and I want to write what I really think, but I write for kids, and writing what I really think about some things would not be good for my image. Urrr. 112shananorrisI blog over at http://shanawrites.livejournal.com/ I blog about writing, things I'm reading or watching, and random things that happen to pop into my head. 113JackFrostI blog about writing, mostly about random story ideas or rejection slips or small press stuff, over at http://www.jessicarbrown.blogspot.com. I was away from writing for a long time, most of my 20s actually, and I'm just getting back into the old habits and obsessions I used to really adore. 115readdvdtvHere is a blog about publishing short scary stories: http://shortscarystories.blogspot.com/ The publisher of www.wrongworld.com adds publishing news, reviews, and information about WRONG WORLD (comments etc.). This is a pro writers market paying 7 1/2 cents per word and is looking for scary (horror, thriller, supernatural, fantasy, science fiction) in the tradition of the Twilight Zone - speculative. I am the submissions editor and am interested in your feedback on this blog. 119CliffBurnsReaddvdtv (#115): It's great there are still markets for old style, "Twilight Zone"-ish stories. Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont were big early influences on my work. Thanks for keeping the torch burning. JackFrost: Keep putting one word ahead of the next. Good luck with your literary (ad)ventures. 120LunatykMine is about various random stuff, I organise it by tags though so content one might be interested in can be easily found... http://vampir5.livejournal.com 121LindsaygWhat a cool thread! I love finding new blogs. Here is mine. I post monthly book reviews and weekly links to my "one picture a day" project: http://lindsaygail.livejournal.com 122reademwritemThis is my Amazon Friends blog. It was suggested to me by another indie, though I think it is hard to find. I link to it from my home page, www.waronthemargins.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/ANOKWN2GWBHQ0/ref=cm_pdp_profile_changeview... I finally figured out how to edit my Kindle ms, so a nice clean copy is uploaded and the edited first chapter is on the blog. The paperback should be out soon! Libby Cone War on the Margins 123MinaKellyI decided I needed a portfolio site, and added a blog to go with it. I'm trying to stick to just posting writing related things there; I have a livejournal for more mundane stuff. I hope to post in the blog every few days, but I suspect that's a resolution I'll break, sooner or later. 124whyleWhen it comes to photographs Patricia J DeLois, author of Bufflehead Sisters, is as elusive as a Salinger. When I suggested that an image, even of someone else, might be useful for marketing purposes. DeLois, if only briefly, considered her friend Joan... http://www.redroom.com/blog/james-whyle/channelling-sophie-interview-patricia-j-... 125MinaKellyI /had/ a blog, but I've killed it and my website. I don't know how. Even though I've now taken it off the site, the site's not working. I just... Karma for pimping it, I guess! 127MinaKellyI've fixed my site by removing the blog, so it's now here: http://significantkinks.blogspot.com 128gwerninMy blogsite is http://tregwernin.blogspot.com/ where I post about writing, medieval Wales, cats, gardening, and anything else that strikes my fancy. 131davedonelsonI'm a bloggin' fool. I've long maintained websites for my books and clips for editors to read when I'm pitching a magazine article to someone who doesn't know my work, but I got into blogging this year to promote my new novel. Then I became addicted. You may be sorry you asked, but here's my list of blogs (so far): Heart of Diamonds - Themes from the Novel Heart of Diamonds - Life in Africa Dave Donelson on Kunati Books Dave Donelson on Amazon OutTakes Travel With Dave Donelson Tee To Green Toonland Dave Donelson on Red Room Dave Donelson on MySpace (Hope I got all the html tags correct) BTW, I WELCOME comments! 132kvanuskaI blog about books I'm reading, responses to book reviews and journal articles that I read, and writing-related topics. My blog is at http://karenvanuska.livejournal.com/. 133eyescorpEven though I usually write poetry and fiction, I blog creative non-fiction here: http://www.eyescorpion.blogspot.com/ And photographs here: http://threeriversfoureyes.blogspot.com/ 134Naos_Ben_DavidI have a blog. It's called The Aspie Diaries and can be reached at www.worldhead.blogspot.com. 135farmershatMy blog is http://burburandfriendsblog.com Bur Bur and Friends is a cast of multicultural characters who educate kids about sports, outdoor exploration and active play. The blog covers news topics, reflections on writing, being a mom, etc. I welcome anyone to stop by and say hello!! 136netvenWriters that don't promote don't want to sell. I believe it was Dan Poynton who said that bookstores were a terrible place to sell books. Everything is Internet now. So, with that introduction, my list includes: Website: Brain Injury Survivors Guide Squidoo: Brain Injury Guide MySpace: Brain Injury Survivors Guide Blogger: Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors And we have three videos on YouTube, Google, and several other video sites. 137hermit_9Oh gods! With so many interesting blogs to catch up on, how will I ever get back to writing? Oh well, my boss used to tell me, “Sleep is highly overrated.” I guess that validtates Truman Capote’s definition of boss. Let me add to the distraction: The Hermitage. I treat it mostly as an online diary that includes bits of family life. I recently started including book and album reviews. Not much about writing. I started another blog for writing but abandoned it after only a few entries. The comment about putting writing on a blog being an act of publication caught my attention. I used a blog format to get my first novel to test readers. It was an invitation-only blog, theoretically inaccessible to anyone not specifically invited to read it. I’m wondering now if that was a mistake. 139davedonelsonHuman Rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of Congo are a major theme in my novel, Heart of Diamonds, so I wrote about them on many of my blogs as part of the Bloggers Unite for Human Rights event sponsored by Amnesty International. I write historical fiction and have a blog, Writing the Renaissance. Please stop by for a visit! I look forward to checking out your blogs as well. 141elleveeI started a new blog of reviews of TV, movies, books, trailers, comics, etc: http://fangirlreview.blogspot.com/ I only have a few so far, but I'm open to suggestions on what I should review/a new title for said blog. 142GillyPI have my blog at live journal: http://gillyp.livejournal.com/ It's sometimes about my writing. More often it's not. 143thekoolaidmomI just finally broke down and started blogging my reading. I found the set up here on LT to be too constricting to give the reviews I really wanted because I felt people click to the book's page to find out quickly if they'll like it. To stick a 700 word review on it, at least IMO, is like saying, "Look at me!! Look at me!!" So I created In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I also just started using my redroom blog specifically about writing. And I've got my work on Booksie. I list all my links at I want more KOOL-AID!, which is a page on the Mt. TBR blog. 144iansalesBeen blogging for a year or more at It Doesn't Have To Be Right... It Just Has To Sound Plausible. 145Z-RyanI've been blogging for a while. Some months activity is high, around thirty posts, sometimes it hovers around eight or so (like right now). The Blog of the Realm 146RobinReardonDefinitely! In fact, I've introduced a series of monthly installments that present the rationale behind my second novel, THINKING STRAIGHT. The book is about a gay teen whose parents send him to a summer camp designed to straighten him out. You can read more about the book, including an excerpt from Chapter One, on my Web site (www.robinreardon.com). The story is positive and inclusive. Not only does it respect religious belief, but also it takes a step toward creating a safe place for people of all sexual orientations within the religion called Christianity. The series is written from the point of view of a gay man—which I am not—so I'm labeling it as a fictional open letter to humanity, addressed to anyone who will read it and consider its points. My hope is that it will further understanding and acceptance. The objective is to demonstrate that the only thing wrong with being gay is how some people treat you when they find out. I invite comment. If anyone would be willing to read and comment, please do so! The blog is at www.robinreardon.blogspot.com. Thanks! 147clangillMy blog is www.calangill.wordpress.com. I keep the in-depth personal turmoil for my journal. The blog is mostly day-to-day life kind of stuff...stuff about my dog, my girlfriend, my house, etc. Christine 148mamakatsMy blog is more an exercise (or exorcise) in mamaness, i thelps keep my adult add (teehee) in check for my writing projects these days... I'm a recovering academic, now working on freelance writing when I can snatch the time from parenting. My personal blog is: http://www.lilysea.blogs.com 150JaneSmithI've posted here a couple of times, but not recently. I blog about the publishing business, and often take a close view of the many related misconceptions that I read online. It's here: http://howpublishingreallyworks.blogspot.com/ Comments welcome. Jane 151bnavtaI'm relatively new here, but I do blog. Not always about writing and books, but I blog. http://howlingnsilence.blogspot.com 152WolfspiritI've had so many blogs and online diaries but the latest one I've started is at this one: inkedtruths.blogspot.com 154DaviddotI am very new here. I am a writer and have been so for all of my career though I have now decided to write something of bookish length. And what a struggle it is proving. I do blog. It can be a bit of a distraction, on the other hand, it is useful to keep writing and proves an outlet for my frustrated urge to create. Drop by, introduce yourself, have a look at my blog links most of which are other writers, published or not. http://westpierwords.blogspot.com/ 155WhitmelBI also blog but mainly about military things and thoughts. Address: fighterwing.blogspot.com 156rathacatI'm Clare Bell, the author of the Ratha series about a clan of intelligent big cats struggling towards civilization. I have posted here once before, but that was a while back. I did my own website, containing research for the series, artwork, recorded author interviews, video, and other items. See it at http://www.rathascourage.com I also have The Scratching Log blog via Blogger http://www.rathascourage.com/scratchlog.htm where I write about my books, the research behind them, the progress of getting the new one, Ratha's Courage to publication and the various prehistoric creatures, including Ratha herself (Dinaelurus illumina sapiens) and her people, the Clan of the Named. Recently I have started using Twitter, and am running a little Twit-fic prequel to Ratha's Courage in dialog. To see the ClanChirps, follow me at http://twitter.com/rathacat I have also started a forum on Invisionfree for fans of my work and I use that to interact with readers via posts and role-playing. http://z11.invisionfree.com/Ratha_Series_Forum/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=06 Those who saw the previous post might like to know that Ratha's Courage, available now as an E-Book, will be published in print by Imaginator Press. My blog and website: http://jaynepupek.blogspot.com/ www.jaynepupek.com 160hangenOh so glad you asked (laughing). I post maybe six times a month on my blog, terragarden.blogspot.com Favorite subjects are gardening, herbs, flowers, veggies, recipes, my cats, bits about my journey as a Christian writer, book reviews by me and book giveaways by me with books supplied by writers and publishers (once a month). My own book has its very own blog on all things Christmasy at scrapbookofchristmasfirsts.blogspot.com Come on over and say hi, and I promise to visit your blog. I really enjoyed it, but found it hard to keep up while working full time and also trying to work on longer writing projects. Benjamin Orbach author of Live from Jordan www.benjaminorbach.com www.benjaminorbach.blogspot.com 165kelskelsI do have a blog. It's kinda new and still trying to get on its feet. But mostly it's book reviews and a wannabe writer's perspective on what she reads, writes, etc. http://norwegianstrawberry.wordpress.com p.s. I'm in the middle of a thunderstorm and LOVE it! 166hermit_9I have been blogging about Instructional Design for a while. I decided to mention it here because ID and technical writing are closely related fields. The blog is Central Texas Instructional Design. 167SpyGirl116Mine's supposed to be about my life as a writer trying to finish my first novel. But there's lots of random stuff in there including book review, adorable shoes, British period movies, running... It's http://acvollers.blogspot.com 168kamigrayI blog about how not to be so fat. I'm not really that irreverent. It's got helpful information about common sense eating told from a regular person whose been there...fat that is. I created the blog to support my book that will be released this coming spring by New World Library, called, The List: Sixteen Simple Lifelong Habits for a Smaller You (and a Healthier Planet). It's got humor, stories, and a real plan to get your body back on track. http://blog.thelistbykamigray.com/ 169gabeblazeI started a blog recently that is mostly book/story reviews for things I've read for class so I can keep them all straight. I have plans to move it beyond that, I'm working on it. http://dailylitmajor.blogspot.com/ 170robbieg_422http://robingregory.blogspot.com/ Just whatever happens to come to mind. I have a website where I post my blogs about parenting and I have some movie reviews posted there as well. I have one chapter of the non-fiction book that I have written posted also. Don't have any of my fiction works posted. http://www.nateflix.net/nateflixhome.html Enjoy! I'll be checking out as many of the blogs and sites posted here that I can. 180BHenricksenI blog at the Lost Hills Books website. I keep the focus on books (many are book reviews) and on book events in my region. Visit http://losthillsbooks.com/blog/ 181MaryNovikI blog at my website, http://www.marynovik.com The blog begins on my home page and continues inside. That's the way the British website developer set it up for me, but now I'm wondering if it might have been better to go with blogspot or something. Anyway, it's an eclectic blog about literary things, e.g. festivals I've attended, writers I've met, books I've read, my writing group, gossip, and any breaking news about my novel Conceit, which is about the daughter, Pegge, of the English poet, John Donne. My most recent blogs have been about the Pierre-Narcisse Guerin painting on Conceit's cover, which is also being used by the Louvre this season to advertise its youth pass. 182megwaiteclaytonI host a blog, 1st Books: Stories of How Writers Get Started, that is mostly guest posts from authors about writing and breaking into print. It's on my author site (http://www.thewednesdaysisters.com) or you can reach it directly at http://www.megwaiteclayton.com/1stbooks. The authors who guest blog sometimes contribute books for giveaways, too - so free books! There are three up for grabs there now. 183Seeker4I blog with a group of Young Adult writers at http://yaedge.blogspot.com We blog at least 3 times a week on various topics regarding writing/books/life, etc. We'll be holding author interviews, challenges (one going on now for November) and contests (also in November). We're new to the group blog world so come by and check us out! 184elleveeI blog about movies, books, politics, my life, and my attempts to get published. And, on Election Day, I'm doing hour-by-hour coverage of the election. I'm updating CONSTANTLY. And obsessively. So go read it, and watch my descent into madness, and read some really interesting/funny facts about the election, and one girl's perspective on the election that will change everything. http://fearandloathingny.blogspot.com/ /shameless plug 185LaurieSandersI have two blogs actually. Unfortunately I do not post on either as often as I would like to...the price of being very busy editing, publishing, and writing books I suppose. The first blog is the main Black Velvet Seductions blog. It is primarily for readers of romantic fiction as that is what we publish at Black Velvet Seductions. You can find it at: http://www.blackvelvetseductions.com/wordpress%20blog My second blog is part of Black Velvet Seductions' sister site bvs-romance-writer-u.com which is a site dedicated to authors of romantic fiction. I post information of use to authors on the this blog. Today's post was about the top mistake that authors make in writing query letters. It's based on my experience as an editor reading them. You can find that blog at: http://bvs-romance-writer-u.com/blog/ 186JaneSmithI have a couple of blogs: my blog about publishing which I've mentioned here before (I used to be a full-time editor, now I write and edit): http://howpublishingreallyworks.blogspot.com/ And my newish review site, where I look at self-published books from the point of view of a mainstream publisher's editor: http://theselfpublishingreview.blogspot.com/ I'm always happy to read comments and to receive requests for reviews at the second one, so do ask via email if you're interested. 187davedonelsonI'm blogging today for "Bloggers Unite for Refugees." You can read my contribution to this worldwide effort to draw attention to the many people displaced by war, civil conflict, and natural disasters at my Heart of Diamonds blog and elsewhere: http://heartofdiamonds.blogspot.com 188unknown_zoso05www.bohoinparadise.blogspot.com I am an infrequent blogger but I love it! My blog is mostly about how my bohemianism influences my outlook on every day events. 189thesmellofbooksI do blog a bit. My latest post is an interview with the artist who did the cover of my book--Maggie V. Jones. She is awesome! http://cjunewolfden.blogspot.com/ Casey 190Gina-Collia-SuzukiI have a blog, and I love to read other people's. Mine's about Japanese art, and I make a concerted effort to update it regularly. http://www.blog.utamarorevealed.com 192writemegI blog about a little bit of everything! Books (talk and reviews), delicious food, writing, recipes, random stuff I like. It's sort of a catch-all for my active imagination. http://writemeg.wordpress.com Feel free to visit me :) 194MaryNovikI'm now blogging about the TV series, The Tudors, since it is somewhat relevant to my own novel, Conceit, and a lot of fun to boot! I've been especially enjoying spotting the anachronisms. I'll also be blogging Canada Reads, March 2-6, 2009, since my writing partner, Jen Sookfong Lee, will be championing Fruit: A Novel About a Boy and His Nipples. My blog begins on my homepage at http://www.marynovik.com 195lilystrangeI actually have a lot of blogs, but probably the one that people here would be most likely to be interested in is the Creative Crabbing blog at http://amoeboidfungus.blogspot.com 196lilystrangeOh yeah...duh...also the blog that contains chapters from my book (as well as a bunch of blather and muckity-muck) at http://lostbeneaththesurface.blogspot.com 197jcbaggotti'm julianna baggott, novelist and poet, but i also write under N.E. I've been trying to broaden my reading horizons as well as return to beloved books I haven't read in over a decade, and I'm enjoying putting it all down in words for other people to read over. I'm not sure anyone else really is reading it, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. 202hangenYes, I blog at http://terragarden.blogspot.com and my book has its own blog at http://scrapbookofchristmasfirsts.blogspot.com (about celebrating Christmas and starting easy family traditions) My own blog is about lots o' things; garden topics, pix of my cats, writing, book reviews, book giveaways of books publishers send me, deep thoughts and silly thoughts, etc. I post about twice a week. Come over and say hi. 203kitsapgalOn my unexpected snow vacation last week I started a blog and have had so much fun with it. I haven't written for several years and this is a bit like keeping a journal but trying to be just a bit funnier and more interesting. Mine is http://sanddollarscholar.blogspot.com 204kitsapgalBecky, I'm enjoying your blog and have subscribed; your reviews are just the type I like to read! Keep writing. Please come check it out and don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know what you think! http://imlostinbooks.blogspot.com Hope everyone has a good weekend! :) 209EricCGibsonI am on my 3rd blog. I retired the others, they vexed me. My new blog is http://www.ninelords.com I am kind of using it as a place to start off my memoirs as a field archaeologist, as well as post chapters of the 2 fiction books I am currently working on, but must confess that often I feel like it distracts me from focusing on one book at a time. For awhile it drifted into the realm of sports, but that became a complete distraction, and not a good idea. Secondarily, it is a platform to introduce people to my novel Nine Lords of the Night. Free copies are available until the end of January, if you agree to write a review, but that is not its' primary function. 211WilfGehlenTruly edifying to see a topic with this activity and longevity. I guess I am part of the trend of "blogging at a snail's pace," reported in http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/23/fashion/23slowblog.html, though when I started, I didn't even know this category existed. Thus, I post as something moves me, and not as the calendar moves. I write about philosophical novels that move me, as described by Camus: "A novel is never anything but a philosophy expressed in images. And in a good novel the philosophy has disappeared into the images. But the philosophy need only spill over into the characters and action for it to stick out like a sore thumb, the plot to lose its authenticity, and the novel its life." http://massolit-gehlen.blogspot.com/ 212TeacherDadwow, Wilf, that's quite a post-- but what is "the next Great Cycle" ??? just curious, looks like it's getting close... 213WilfGehlen>212 The next Great Cycle of the Maya Calendar (see the link in my Welcome to the Neighborhood). Some say the world will end in fire / Some say in ice... and Not with a bang, but a whimper. Some forecast the end of the world in 2012, not me. The Maya calendar runs out of dates, but they'll just roll the calendar stone over and start all over again. (The royal "they," that is). 215sylviawrigleyI have a handwritten blog that is "mostly" about writing. http://backspace.blog.me.uk/ 217DianneAscroftI started a blog, Ascroft, eh? not long after I released my first novel (only novel so far, by the way). I have to admit I'm not a frequent blogger - I get caught up in the rest of my writing and don't get to the blog as often as I should. It's not remotely readable yet and I hope to be getting it into some shape over the next few weeks. Basically it'll be about my efforts to write. I'm not entirely sure yet how far it will prove to be a help or a distraction, so it may be that it falls by the wayside before then. We'll see. 227megwaiteclaytonI've got some great new guest blogs on http://megwaiteclayton.com/1stbooks, including a wonderful post by Jamie Ford, author of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. 230netvenWe've found blogging to be effective. Of course we also have two websites we maintain to support our book (and they get more traffic than the blog. Blogging, however, allows our updates to show on our book page on Amazon which lets prospective buyers know we're still very active in the information they seek. http://blog.brain-injury-online.com/ 231Jo-AnneVandermeulenTURNING NIGHTMARES INTO PLEASANT DREAMS and CREATING A BUZZzzzz YOU can…“Conquer All Obstacles” PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT NETWORK FOR WRITERS I have posted two new topics this week: 1.) I started the blog -- www.baltimoresun.com/readstreet -- because the Sun was reducing its print coverage of books, and I wanted to create an online alternative. Every day we post general news and opinion about books, with a special focus on Baltimore's literary scene. If you're in the area, there's a monthly calendar of readings and other events. 233HanabiI do write and I have a lot of blogs going right now covering a lot of topics. They are my online journals. My most active right now is a blog about law school. - Cannot Survive Law School: http://categorical.blogspot.com This is another blog about my digital library. I will be posting excerpts from books that I use in my writing, insights for decision-making and just for reference purposes. - Cannot Read 10,000 Books: http://repertory.blogspot.com 234thewordygeckoI have a blog at http://thewordygecko.wordpress.com, which is mainly my snippets of memoir writing, along with a few other stories and what have you. I have another blog which is a record of what I read and what I think of it, but I'm thinking of deleting it or at least changing it somehow: http://geckoreading.blogspot.com. I like blogging, but do find it quite time-consuming. That is, it could take up inordinate amounts of time that I should be using to do other things (like writing or reading!) so I have to be strict. Which means that it sometimes isn't updated as regularly as it should be to keep it interesting. 235KetaDiabloCan we say LIPS? Keta Blogs all the time time. I have three blogs and do a lot of blogging FOR some popular romance sites. Here's one of MY favorite blogs, Keta's Keep. Stop by and say hi, and hey, follow me so you can read all about what' happening in my little corner of the world. Keta's Keep: http://ketaskeep.blogspot.com Be there or be square! (Target is the end of 2009.) The idea is that it will work as a written record of any targets I set for myself, thoughts that occur to me, problems I encounter and how I deal with them. When things are tough, maybe going back and reading what I wrote when I was in the groove will help. I chose to put it online rather than keep it in a private file on my laptop partly because the software is designed for journalling, and partly because in the unlikely event of anyone turning up and reading it, their knowing about my goals may encourage me to stick to them! So please feel free to drop by and leave a comment or two: http://eruntane.wordpress.com. 240masterkidderminster#239. Very much the same intentions of my blog, which is patchy because in order for it to do the job assigned to it I must only work on it when I'm not on form enough to do anything "more constructive". I tend to flit from one thing to another and have new ideas come up and distracting me all the time, so I'm hoping any readers who come along may help me keep on track. I'm using monthly polls to have readers tell me if I deserve a forfeit for flitting around and not working on-target. http://wardogara.wordpress.com/ 241LindsaygI recently ditched my Livejournal and started a new library/books-related blog on blogspot: http://librarynotebook.blogspot.com 242jbhensleyI just started keeping a blog about the books I am writing. I am writing a mystery series and I have one book I have self-published. It is an e-book. Here is my blog: http://mmunfortunatesleuth.blogspot.com/ 243digitalDARWINHi fellow authors, here is my contribution: http://www.analogDARWIN.com I felt confined with only one blog because I like to write on lots of different topics. But not everyone that follows my posts on writing cares about the holiday photos of my kids. So I've created seven blogs in one that can be subscribed to individually or collectively (SuperFeed). Behind the scenes, these are seven separate blogs but in combination they appear as one website with six sections: home | design | happiness | humanity | meaning | spirit | story Check it out and e-mail me if you want to know how I set this up technically. I find this is a great way for me to segment my musings and still cater to specific audiences. darwin 244masterkidderminsterSomeone has just maliciously deleted my blog! I've been locked out of my Googlemail account and my blog now reads "the author's have deleted this blog"! From what I read, I can't get any of the content back. It has become my only means of expressing myself. I write, and I'm making slow progress. I felt that my blog could become a way of communicating with people, since I don't do a good job of that in the real world. I was feeling that everybody I know is against me somehow. And now this. Both accounts shared the same password. I once wrote it out for someone I was close to. The only person I was close to who I had left. She left me. And now this! 245Heather19244: *hugs!* That's horrible!! Before thinking the worst, though, do you have any children around/visiting/etc that may have gotten on the computer and accidentally deleted it? (happens all too often on another forum I'm on) 246wid_getI tend to blog to think out loud - well, in a public forum, and it appears it's easier for me to get back to and reread a blog than it is for me to read a word file or notebook. I write longhand to begin with and then edit and enter into word. Ideas I thought were fabulous come back ignored by readers and those I believed mediocre receive accolades. Just goes to show I don't have a clue what others want to read and as long as I write for me, I may never get to where the story wants me to be! 247Jo-AnneVandermeulenWant to know more about marketing and promoting? I post bi-weekly posts at: http://www.gr5mom2.wordpress.com. You are more than welcome. Blessings. 248kswolffI post book reviews at my blog, "The Driftless Area" (check my profile). Also, if you want to send me review copies, email me @ driftlessarea1hotmail.com and I can send you the address to mail it. Karl 250PSC159Yeah, I have a blog. I make games with free programs so my team and I made a blog based website. Here you go: http://mcproductions.bobhoil.com/ 252MEStatonHello All, I too blog, at the moment just musings on writing and networking and struggling to get published. The occaisional review as well. It also hosts information about my writing group in London and links to my reviews at other web sites. http://resurrection-cola.com 253daberryI have a blog called A Deepened Hunger~A Vampire's Journal... many of my readers love the book and wanted to know more about Lucian, a 400-year old vampire... so I started blogging his journal every Sunday evening... here is the link... https://daberryauthor.wordpress.com/ Donna A. Berry, author A Deepened Hunger 254CharlesBoydI started a writing blog in January. I don't post as often as I'd like, but they're all on writing. I usually post a photograph as well. I'd be happy to have new people read my blog and post comments. My blog: http://writingprocess-charles.blogspot.com/ Here's a link to a short story I had published in the online magazine "In Posse Review." The story you're looking for (I hope) is "A Little Piece of Another Life." http://webdelsol.com/InPosse/23_a_index.htm It's listed under Mystery-Crime-Science Fiction I'd be happy to get comments on the story too. 255K.J.I tend not to spend much time with the blogs that I have, and I usually just post updates, thoughts of the moment, or a response to a current topic. Although I try to stay with humour in my blogs, life's particulars do challenge that ideal, on occasion. My Web blog: http://www.kristophe.com http://kjsbooks.blogspot.com/ My MySpace blog: http://www.myspace.com/kjsbooks 256FallellaMy blog is: http://fallella-spiralstatic.blogspot.com/ I don't know about anyone else, but I'm writing a blog because at the moment I don't have much time to write creatively and do what I want. I've always been told to write a little bit every day which I try to do. I publish a blog occasionally as well to get feedback about my general writing style. I'm going to try and read other blogs as well because I've not read many before. 257ASparrowI just started a book blog. What really makes a blog go, though is commenting, and I'm still waiting for that ice to break. http://asparrow.weebly.com 258K.J.257> I get plenty of email messages and notes on MySpace, but no one has ever commented on my primary blog, nor have most of the visitors to my primary website ever posted a comment in the Guestbook. I think they have an aversion to those two choices, and email just seems to work better for them. Perhaps it is having their words shared for all eternity, for others to see? 259MinaKellySomeone once told me the average blog takes 2 years to get any serious traffic. It grows exponentially, so though you may only have one follower for a year and a half, when they link it to a friend, and that friend links it, and their friends link it... You can go from 1 to 100 in a single post. Other blog tips I've picked up: You've got to post regularly to stay on the top of the Google searches, and it's got to be novel and unusual to attract attention and to rank anywhere high enough to see! Comment on other people's blog, leaving links to your own where relevant. Guest post (not work safe! Unless you're a very specific kind of Roman Archeaologist...). Link back to other blogs regularly (especially good if they have pingback set up). Ask questions to get people to comment on your posts. Answer questions people ask on theirs. (and pimp it like mad. Like, say, http://significantkinks.solelyfictional.org. Recent posts include a review of the Bram Stoker Film Festival, seasonal jams, and the latest anthology I have work in.) Honestly, the most use my blog has ever been is when I've submitted something and then gone on holiday. When the editor couldn't get hold of me they googled my name, found my blog, and realised I wasn't just ignoring or spam filtering them! 261megwaiteclaytonJust did a very short post on the importance of reading poetry to write prose (thanks to Nabakov): http://megwaiteclayton.com/1stbooks/?p=1084 262olliesmith160oh, i just started a thread about this... should have read down first! I have a blog of short stories here: http://www.theluckydipescapade.blogspot.com/ have only posted three so far but will be using it more frequently from now... 263juleswellesleyHurray for shameless self-promotion! My blog is situated at http://juleswellesley.blogspot.com and you're all welcome to stop by for a heaping helping of your favorite empty-calorie pop-culture goodness, with side orders of zesty pseudo-profound pomposity. Enjoy! Jules 264K.J.259> My MySpace page comes up at the top of the Google search, so I make sure both blogs are up to date. It's never a bad thing to have a back up. 266SLHobbshttp://stefwithnf.livejournal.com/ The above is my blog. I try to post at least twice a month, if not more often. Please come visit. I talk about a lot of things writing and life related. I think it is important for authors to have a web-presence, whether hosted or domained. (hosted = livejournal, blogspot, etc.) Hosted blogs take less web-develpment time for those of us without in-house web-gurus. :D 267shanelloydI'm new to the whole blog thing and have just recently published an Autobiography after spending 5 years in 9 jails including 7 Spanish penitenciaies. http://champagneshane.wordpress.com/ www.champagneshane.com 268jhedlundI am a little over a week into my new blog, in which I'm chronicling my transition from my "real" career to trying to become a full-time writer. So far I've posted almost every day. Come visit me at http://writeupmylife.wordpress.com. :-) 269KoeniginderNachtMy blog covers writing topics that happen to be on my mind at the time, my personal writing experiences and goals, and things that come up from my reading. http://lizzieslitlog.blogspot.com/ 270DavidHFearsI've often wondered--if everyone online blogged, WHO would have the time to read the blogs? 272jhedlundAlthough I don't blog exclusively about reading (or writing for that matter), I did summarize my reading year in 2009 at http://writeupmylife.com/2010/01/05/to-all-the-books-i-read-last-year/ Happy New Year everyone! 273MinaKelly@ DavidHFears Ah, but according to top blogs on how to blog in order to drive traffic to your blog, you need to comment on other people's, and to know what to talk about, you need to link other people's. Therefore, most of the people writing blogs are desperately reading them too, in order to have something to blog about! More seriously, blogging is a form of social networking like facebook or twitter, so you often find most stand-alone bloggers (as opposed to those linked to newspapers or larger websites) read a lot of other blogs, and form little networks and communities as a result. I've pimped mine here before, but a little update to it now: having spent a year find and compiling historical recipes, I have officially gone nuts (try drizzling with a little honey and serving with homemade ice-cream, made the Victorian way!) and decided to preserve (most fruits glut in autumn; try using apple peel or similar for pectin to help berry-based jams and preserves to set) my sanity and I've shifted to links instead. I may still post recipes occasionally, but I've posted well over a hundred and I wasn't sure I could think of about twelve themes I actually know enough about to make it worth doing. This year, I'm posting a selection of links that fall into four categories - Publishing, Interet-Piquing, InsPiring and Procrastion - for Monday Motivation. http://significantkink.solelyfictional.org 274iansalesI moved my blogs recently - got annoyed with blogger.com, so now I'm on wordpress.com. It Doesn't Have To Be Right... - my normal blog - writing, sf, books, films, etc. A Book About Space About Books - reviews of books about spaceflight sferse - sf poetry 275amymyoungYep - Anarchia Artifex (Latin for Creative Anarchy). It's what's on my mind, sometimes excerpts of what I'm working on (writing or otherwise). 276jhedlundI was fortunate to hear Jane Yolen speak in person a few days ago. She left us with her 20 rules of writing. I found them very helpful. I blogged about it if anyone is interested. http://writeupmylife.com/2010/02/02/jane-yolens-20-rules-of-writing/ 277LindsaygHaving killed my Livejournal since I linked to it here, I thought I'd post my new blog: http://librarynotebook.blogspot.com It's mostly book related. 278emperorsclothesHello, I've just joined this group. I'm an author and I've got a blog: http://helensmithblog.blogspot.com Come and take a look and say hello. Helen 279LauraJWRyanMy blog "Upstate Girl" is about my writing process and progress, it's a journal of observations, I talk about books I'm reading, authors who inspire me, and it's usually illustrated with photographs from the acre that I've snapped that week, and occasionally one of my drawings or paintings will spill over from my art related blog... the addy is: http://upstategirl-laurajwryan.blogspot.com/ Stop by for a look-see! 280MarlissaMy live journal is here, at "The Plague Documents". I don't post very frequently, but I use it to record any sales or publication notices. I mostly write short stories: science fiction/fantasy/horror, often in historical settings. 281purplepen79Hi EelKat and everyone else-- Wow. In reading these posts, it seems like everyone's blogs are very individualized with many different purposes. I'm getting some great ideas of what to do with my blog--thanks all. I've sort of stumbled into blogging. I've never kept diaries or personal journals well. It seems like all my friends have given me these beautiful diaries to write in--I like to write, right?--and it's really sad--all these beautiful journals are blank except for a few pages at the beginning where I tried to keep a diary and then soon gave up. The only one I consistently write in is my dream journal. That said, I have posted in my blog on occasion, random observations about Wolverine, my dream group, Taoism and Wallace Stevens . . . a strange stew indeed. The link is http://www.karennilsen.com/ 282TeaWrenMy blog - http://teawren.blogspot.com/ "Writing. In small, friendly bits. Thoughts, ideas, stuff learned, things written." Basically, little bitesize chunks of all sorts, mostly writing-related, because folks are busy, and it takes me long enough sometimes as it is. ALSO, coming soon, I'll be publishing a short story series online at.... http://sallycarter.blogspot.com/ "Investigating Deaths and Other Mysteries caused by Magical Means...." 283ShawnLambhttp://allonbooks-thekingdomofallon.blogspot.com/ I dipped my toe into blogging when my book was published and I discuss about my book, writing and happenings connected with it, but I did take time to acknowledge my 25th wedding anniversary. :-) 284Teck-LohWell yes I do have a blog! I created a blog to help promote my upcoming book. It is loaded with samples of what to expect from my book. To cut a long introduction short, the book will be a collection of stories based on my real life experience as a mall cop. Tentatively titled 'Mall Cop Diary'. So check out my blog: http://mallcopdiary.wordpress.com/ PS: I have a contest set up there right now. 2 artists have sent in their entries and the winning entry will be used as the cover design for my book. The artist will also become my Illustrator. 285MillieHennessyhttp://whyshouldigrowup.blogspot.com/ I try to update regularly...it's where I post my writing/art/school projects. I hope to add a lot more writing and art this summer, once college is done sucking up all my creative energy. 286ccourtlandHi, I'm Charlie Courtland author of 'Dandelions In The Garden,' historical fiction novel about the Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory. My blog is "What's Charlie Talking About?" at http://www.charliecourtland.com This is a place where I discuss current events or ideas from a writer's perspective. I'm always watching, learning, listening and wondering how I can use what I see and hear as a creative writer. I have a 'networked blog' section. So feel free to add your blogs to the roll and also don't forget to 'follow.' I always return the favor. I also have a facebook fan 'like' page. http://www.facebook.com/charliecourtland 287MCliffordAuthorHi everyone, I'm M. Clifford, author of The Book (won't touchstone - here's the link: http://www.librarything.com/work/9812591) and also The Muse of Edouard Manet. I do blog, sometimes about what I think and sometimes my entries are updates about what's going on with me as an author. I also keep my facebook author page very updated. Here are my links! 'Fan' me, 'follow' me or 'like' me and I'll do the same to you! http://mcliffordauthor.blogspot.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/M-Clifford/330111742567 Thanks!! M. Clifford 288megwaiteclaytonI had guest poets blogging all April in celebration of National Poetry Month, and now have a post by Leah Stewart, whose third novel, Husband and Wife, is just out. All at http://www.megwaiteclayton.com/1stbooks 290mcglynnSo many blogs to check out in this wee thread. I can be found here: http://jonathonmoxon.blogspot.com. I document my life as a series of humbling moments. 291AlgoraMortisI have a personal blog which I used to update almost everyday but lately I've been rather inactive: http://fairygarland.livejournal.com 292gregdaweHi, I have a new site/blog - not much on it right now but I'm about to have my first novel published so it should contain some writer's journey stuff soon. http://gregdawe.com/ 293MinaKelly292> That is an absolutely stunning cover. I'd wish you the best of luck, but that looks like it'll fly of the shelves with no luck needed! 294dlwarnerI blog weekly. Sometimes it's actually about writing or what I'm reading. Mostly about a writer's life in Los Angeles and the projects I'm working. The blog has been useful for marketing books and the reders don't seem to mind its evolution. You can find it at: http://dlwarner.blogspot.com 295QuiteTheHumanDoesnt everyone blog these days? :P I once had a marginally successful blog about random everything for about a year and then in a fit of irritability, I deleted it. I've recently started a new one, and am just sort of in the process of figuring out it's flavour. So far, it's sort of a feministlesbyoptimistgenerallifejournyslashhappine type...thing:P Only a half dozen posts so far, two of which are bits of an ED recovery serial/partial memoir. What I've realized by skimming over it just now, is that I haven't made near enough fun of myself yet. Anyhow, if youre interested: http://somecleverthing.wordpress.com/ 296lisagibsonWow, apparently ALOT of people blog here. ;) Me too. I'm at http://lisadgibson.blogspot.com 297CliffScovellI blog as regularly as I can about writing, reading, life in general. I started just before my first book was released in January of this year. Check me out at http://prisonearth.wordpress.com. Cliff Scovell www.prison-earth.com 298MinaKelly@ CliffScovell This might look a bit nit-picky, but there's a typo in the subheading of your blog. Should be "an alien species' criminals" rather than "an alien specie's criminals". Thought you might want to know! 299CarolineLeavittI love to blog! I also regularly interview writers on my blog (I've had Dan Chaon, Gail Godwin, Jennifer Gilmore and more on my blog.) And I like to talk about the writing process, too. Hope you will come visit! http://carolineleavittville.blogspot.com/ 300MarysGirlI just got into the blogging game after my novel Selene of Alexandria came out. I have an extensive website that I've built over the years (http://www.faithljustice.com) but it wasn't as flexible as I needed, so I added the blog. I post interviews with historical fiction authors, "reel vs. real" discussions on movies and TV shows set in historical times, essays on historical topics and history/archaeology in the news. I also started "guest blogging" on other peoples' sites. Come visit my "Historian's Notebook" at http://faithljustice.wordpress.com/. My most recent is a series of posts on the historical events and characters depicted in the new movie Agora starring Rachel Weisz as Hypatia, the famed mathematician/philosopher of 5C Alexandria. Comments welcome! 301Phlox72Just started blogging recently and actually I had just finished a new post before I saw this thread. My blog so far is about books I've read, though i'm not sure how it may evolve. You can read it here: http://phlox72.blogspot.com/ 302theseus75Honestly, even if someone did take your work, unless you're posting high-quality, timely work on your blog (which is rare) that odds that anyone is making anything off your work is infinitesimally small. I've had www.piracyhappens.net and www.theautomaton.com for some time, and it's made a whopping $6 in pay-per-click adverts, so I figure that's about how much someone else could make off it as well. Just a thought. 303patrickdjoyceI blog mostly to reflect on books I'm reading. But blogging also lets me think out loud about writing. It's a little like exorcism, getting those demons out of your head. http://praevaricator.com/ 304CarolineLeavittI blog about writing and angst and I have author interviews (Dan Chaon, Gail Godwin, Dani Shapiro)--please come by! http://carolineleavittville.blogspot.com/ 306mmarkelThe name of my blog, Fears of a First-Time Novelist, tells you my theme. I'd appreciate a visit, and of course I'd love to be a guest blogger for someone who takes in guests: http://mikemarkel.blogspot.com. Thanks. 307MinaKelly@305 It depends on how stuck in you want to get. I've tried various platforms, and I've settled on WordPress (though I also have a livejournal that I use mainly to stay in touch with friends and for personal posts) Livejournal (and the other journal sites such as Dreamwidth, Insanejournal and Journalfen) offer a kind of blog/social networking tool, with a high level of interaction between blogs and communities and the ability to follow many other journals on a single friends page. It also has filtering, so you can make semi-private posts as well as public ones. Blogspot offers a good starter blog, for people who just want to shout into the void until they get commenters. I used it for a while, but I found I wanted something more flexible and intergrated with my own site. It has an option for integration, but after a few months it stopped working and going through the help forums showed I wasn't the only one with this problem. Wordpress do a good starter package as well, though they also offer a much more hands-on option where you can upload a blog to your own webspace and basically build a website around it. I've been experimenting with it for a while, and I still haven't got quite what I want, but I love the flexibility of it. If you'd already paid for webspace, and it has a SQL server option, it's a great way to make a very intergrated blog without too much effort (since you can base it on the style sheets you already have). I've also seen people using tumblr for blogging, though I haven't really got my head around that yet. 309Ex_Lit_ProfI am an Ex Lit Prof who hightailed it from academia, because I wanted to rediscover reading and writing for pleasure and self-discovery. In my blog, I am most interested in the novels that have uplifted and inspired me at crisis points in my life. As you read about my turbulent search for a new career and journey toward happiness, I hope you will share your favourite novels and how they have helped you deal with the emotional highs and lows of life. Read about my journey at: www.the-reading-list.com 310JPWickwireI have a blog with reviews, literary links and (soon) book giveaways! It's fairly new, so there isn't too much up, but I update at least three times a week. :D ETA: Forgot the link. :p http://www.dailymonocle.blogspot.com -J. P. 311oldstickWow - I thought I was brave, coming on Librarything. Now I have been told to blog. Which is the simplest to join- Wordpress or Blogspot? I'm scared to try, especially as I looked at one of yours and was impressed by the design. My website was designed by someone else and is static. Should I twitter instead...HELP! oldstick. 312CharlesBoydoldstick: I'm 60 and I found blogspot pretty easy. It would also help if a family member or friend helped you the first time or two. 314iansalesWordpress is better than blogspot. I used to be on blogspot, but they kept on randomly locking my blog because their bot mistakenly identified it as a spam blog. Then you have to pretty much beg them to unlock it. They treat you as if it's your fault the bot locked your blog. Use Wordpress. 315MyneWhitmanBlogspot is easier with lots of free functions like uploading images and access to widgets. But you can use Wordpress.org, the hosted blog if you're more serious with your blogging. www.mynewhitmanwrites.com 316RobertLloydRussellI am a Christian author who is new to LibraryThing. My genre is mystery/suspense. I have two books out presently, The Gifts, A Jacody Ives Mystery and Sacred Secrets, A Jacody Ives Mystery. Both are available on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords. 322MenshevixenMy blog: http://nomdebiro.blogspot.com I talk about books plenty, as expected; also movies, heavy metal, science fiction, fantasy, and comics, a meme every now and then, and I've also started posting a new story in chunks. 323LisaMPNice to "meet" all of you. I blog at http://virginsheets.blogspot.com about writing and being the mom of a teen and tween. Occasionally I throw a book review in the mix too. Can't wait to check out your blogs! Drop by and join the fun! 325maryawritesHi, I am new to librarything and can't figure out why it has taken me so long. Anyway, I have a blog as well. It's http://maryawrites.wordpress.com/ Cheers :) 328PJWetzelSo ... is it OK for authors to post links to their self-promotional blogs on this thread? Just searching for the balance here. Really, just asking. If I'm going to be a law-abiding citizen here, I need a little help understanding the 'law'. Posts identical to >324, (just to pick out one recent example on this thread - there are many more) just got flagged into oblivion on the "Are you a published author?" thread. Within the last 36 hours that thread went from a quiet backwater with no flags to a blood-red battlefield. Is this thread next? Was that hoard of abuse-flaggers a group of vigilantes or an honorable group of respected citizens? 329Heather19328: As others have already explained to you, authors promoting their books *will* be flagged outside of the groups specifically for that purpose. I looked through the thread you cited; It's a discussion group, not an invitation to promote books. Also, most of the ones that had been flagged were authors that had catalogued no books and had very obviously joined just to promote their book... Well-established members who happen to be authors will not be met with such wariness. 331somermooreI don't post often enough, and none of these have to do with my officially published writings, but I have several blogs. One for personal thoughts, one for books that I would like to see adapted to screenplays, one for language policy news and research data and one for folk music news and commentary. 332StacyJubaMy blog is http://stacyjuba.com/blog/blog/ . I regularly host guest authors (or their characters) answering the question What were you doing 25 years ago? as a tie-in to my mystery novel Twenty-Five Years Ago Today. As a tie-in to my new mystery Sink or Swim, I'm also launching a new feature where authors can have their characters complete a contest application interview for my fictional reality show Sink or Swim. Many authors also give away print books or e-books in conjunction with their posts. 334IronMikere: 24 eelKat: You say we should put a copyright notice on our blogs. Where do we find such a notice? I recently found that some group from my old college had copied and pasted a large portion of one of my blog posts. I use a pseudonym on my blog so I can't be identified, but I mentioned the name of my college in a blog and they put my stuff on their website to see if anyone could identify me so they could get in touch with me. They did this quite nicely...edited it a bit...but it still disturbs me. I assume they hope to do some fundraising, in which I don't wish to oblige them. Thanks, Mike and yes, I have a blog. It's mostly my book reviews. It started out as a kind of private thing. I only told 2 people about it. Now I'm getting all sorts of "hits." So I guess my blog is out of the bag, so to speak. I'm at http://www.crowdedonavelvetcushion.com. 335Ex_Lit_ProfI am an ex lif prof, writer, reader and blogger at www.the-reading-list.com As I furiously write to finish my memoir THE READING LIST: LITERATURE, LOVE, AND BACK AGAIN by my April deadline, I like to blog as a diversion to my more introspective writing, about whatever novels are providing fodder for my imagination, about the writing process, about my personal life. My short story "A Japanese Custom" was recently published in the online journal MTLS. It's based on my memories of my eccentric grandmother who was anything but a traditional Japanese lady.... The story can be read through www.the-reading-list.com 336Grace_ElliotMy this is quite a long list now - I wonder if anyone will see my entry? Still, I'm an eternal optimist so here goes. My blog can be found at http://graceelliot-author.blogspot.com It is a mix of history, romance and cats (odd I know but then perhaps that's me?!) I'd love you to pop over and say hello. Routinuely I update twice a week - mainly historical trivia and interesting snippets about cats - as well as host guest authors, competitions et.c From Feb 8th - 13th I'm currently holding a prize draw with a $20 Amazon voucher on offer as part of the Love Giveaways Blog Hop. See you there. Grace x 337egtalbotWell, late to the party, but I do blog posts on my web site anywhere from every day or two to once a month. Usually either on writing topics or reviews of other authors (usually thrillers), with announcements of my own stuff sprinkled in there: http://www.edwardgtalbot.com/drupal64/index.php?q=taxonomy/term/2 338vapplerleeI, also, have a blog. I am a theatre maker and am currently on a Fulbright fellowship to write a play. I am blogging about my experiences, which mostly become pictures of castles, food, and recipes. Not so much about the play. Maybe a little on the research. We'll see how it goes... It is: http://particleparticulars.blogspot.com V PS - any other playwrights in this group?? 339danpetrosiniHello, New to the group but did start a blog recently and love expressing my thoughts www.danpetrosini.wordpress.com check it out and comment thx! 342BirdybooksForgive my last two fails... I also do critiques for synopses! http://www.beckah-rah.blogspot.com/ 348TheamwriterI blog as well. I mostly do book reviews with a little of a "In my mailbox" type of thing every once in a while, or talking about writing in general. But I can be found at http://Theamwriter.blogspot.com 349RobertCollinsI blog about once a week. I write about my book events, my writing, life, and I post the occasional review. Nice to read about your interesting blogs. I have a poetry blog, Poets of the Caribbean, http://poetsofthecaribbean.blogspot.com 358ThresherBased on this thread I've made notes to check out web hosting with Wordpress, Blogspot, and LiveJournal. Does anyone have good or bad experiences with web hosting, with those hosts or others, to share? I write about whatever strikes me at the time. http://www.tamikidd.com 361S.K.Hi! I'm totally new here, but I also love to read author blogs! My sister (fellow author J. Leigh Bralick) and I write a blog together called SisterMuses - http://sistermuses.wordpress.com. We're going to be doing some awesome stuff for NaNoWriMo, so I hope everyone comes over and checks it out! Peace, S.K. Valenzuela 362tamikiddLooks like a great site. Just subscribed. Good luck with Nano this year! This will be my second year. 363LynneMarie-AuthorHi, I'm a new author to this site and I've just concluded a course on webpages and social networking. I found myself in deeeep trouble when I published on Amazon and my Kindle sales zoomed.... And I didn't have a webpage! Never saw that coming! But I'm Polish, so I'm used to doing things bass-ackwards! Anyway, here's my bog page - http://LynneMarieAuthor.com/blog Still learning and trying to get the hang of it. 364hjensenI blog about my writing and my books but I'm starting to incorporate other parts of my life into the blog. You can find it at my website at www.heatherjensen.info . 365CivilWarWriterIt's a new, small blog, not ready for prime time. But for what it's worth: http://CivilWarWriter.blogspot.com 368Tootsweet89I have a blog that mainly features the love of books that all of us writers and readers share. I even reflect on some of my teaching along the way and on my self publishing experiences. If you want to check it out, here it is: http://teacherwritebookaholicohmy.blogspot.com 370DeusExLibrusI'm currently in the process of rebooting the blog I used to use for book reviews, but never did much with. Will definitely post here when Its ready to go. 371DeusExLibrusUpdate! There's really nothing there of note at the moment, but you can find my blog at http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com. I should have the first "official" post up sometime late next week. Until then, I'll be posting occasional updates on the reboot. 372DeusExLibrusJust put up the inaugural article on my blog. Check it out at: http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/halloween-and-stranger-danger/ 373MarysGirlFor history buffs, my most recent post is "Hypatia: Great Mathematician or Geometry Teacher?" http://faithljustice.wordpress.com/2011/11/09/hypatia-mathematician-or-teacher/ 374DeusExLibrusI've got a new post up, check it out: http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com/2011/11/10/this-post-brought-to-you-by-the... 376WillyMammothHere comes the shameless plug: My new book blog can be found at http://readabookonce.blogspot.com. It's a place for book reviews, author profiles, and armchair literary criticism... and maybe a really bad joke or two. Please check it out if you get a chance. 378MaryChaseI started a blog in October to see if I could overcome writers block. I did, but now I find writing my blog keeps me from writing my next book! You can't win! nulla-mary.blogspot.com 379NefTwinkI do: http://neftwink.wordpress.com/ When I started the blog I was blogging excerpts of my memoir as I was writing it. Well, I self-published that last March, and then I layed off the blogging for awhile. These days I'll blog a book review, a cool pic and a quote that grabs me. :) 380Tootsweet89I sure do: http://teacherwritebookaholicohmy.blogspot.com I just reviewed Switched by Amanda Hocking and I have a giveaway currently underway for Panty Raid @ Zombie High and Ushers, Inc by Rusty Fischer. Check my blog on how to enter! I started my blog to record my journey through the self publishing industry and to let some unknown authors known. They are some fantastic authors out there that never get the chance to shine because they are not on the bestsellers list, so I figured that while I was publishing my own books, I might as well put some reviews of the books I hold near and dead. Little did I know that it would be such a wonderful way to keep in touch with the writing community. Getting free books is always a plus! :D 381RSchiverIt's hit or miss with me, I'll post when I have time, and it's not always about writing. My most recent post is a brief trip down memory lane from my service in West Germany in the mid-seventies. http://rschiver.blogspot.com 382JonathanGarrettI don't have much on my blog right now, just started it up about a week ago, but I've been keeping track of everything I'm writing and working on at present: http://jonathanagarrett.wordpress.com/ 383MaryChaseI am using blogger.com to release a new book (Jane Austen sequel) one chapter at a time -- as I write it. A big challenge to keep up with one chapter a week, but good for me and my tendency toward procrastination. http://maryandkitty.blogspot.com/ 384peajayarI have a blog about reading and writing and publishing my novel as an ebook. It's called "out there" and is at http://peajayar.blogspot.co.nz 387SusanOleksiwI started a blog on my own, separate from my website, because I wanted to be able to manage it myself. My webmaster is a fabulous writer and webmaven but I always felt uncomfortable making a list of things to ask about. It seemed easier to do something simple that I could manage. So, I blog almost regularly and think I'm getting the hang of it. I write about all sorts of things, but they have to relate to my writing. My only worry is that I'll start to enjoy this too much and slack off on the novel I'm trying to finish. http://susansblogbits.blogspot.com 388DeusExLibrusIn addition to m3 (Modern Monkey Mind) I've got a blog in the works that will be a dedicated book review blog. There's nothing up at the moment, but check out shelfofwonders.wordpress.com. Should have something up relatively soon. (think couple days to a week). 389JenniferWagnerI actually started off by blogging. My blog, Connect with your Teens through Pop Culture and Technology http://www.connectwithyourteens.net/ is now 4 years old. I just published my first book, a few weeks ago, an ebook about the benefits of video games. I wanted to write a nonfiction book that would relate to my blog and give me more credibility as a blogger. 391Leticia_AlanizHello, I started a blog about a year ago. The topics are varied on Culture, History, Films, and Food. It has been a lot of fun for me and all of these topics are a passion. http://www.leticiaalaniz.blogspot.com 392adrianyekkesHi - you are very welcome to visit my blog. I write about travel (recent posts on Istanbul, Eritrea, Uzbekistan), arts (recent posts on Dutch and Austrian design from the 1930's, theatre, etc) and about different parts of London. All visitors welcome as is feedback. Thanks very much! Adrian http://adrianyekkes.blogspot.com 393LuciaPowersMy blog is http://duo2.net, about an eBook "He Mind Reading & My Love". In 2011, a dying high-tech innovator’s love via Real-time streaming Mind Reading. Like to hear your review. email me, I can provide free reading. Fong Soon 394RSchiverI have a blog where I try to post regularly, but most times life and writing get in the way. If you're interested in the ramblings of an old man I can be found at http://rschiver.blogspot.com I don't blog about anything specific, just whatever strikes my fancy at a given moment. 396VictorDLopezThanks for the opportunity to list our blogs. I do not blog as often as I would like as it is hard to keep all of the plates spinning as is, but you will find some of my poetry and thoughts on various topics including law, ethics and politics at http://victordlopez.wordpress.com/ as well as at http://www.victordlopez.com. 397AlbertoGiuseppeAs Victor stated, thanks for letting us list our blogs. I, and a couple others for now, started a mostly lightly-toned blog this winter on flavor, mostly of books and food but not only, called Reading The Flavor: http://readingtheflavor.blogspot.it/. 398randyattwoodPerhaps most interesting blogpost of mine for this group would be: http://www.randyattwood.blogspot.com/2011/08/reflections-from-aging-writer.html 399LadyClareJust started a blog. I think it's aim is to make me look like a proper writer. Any thoughts, comments or advice gratefully received. http://theshadowsaremoving.blogspot.co.uk/ 400KarenAWyleI have a somewhat neglected blog, Looking Around, at http://looking-around.blogspot.com. I do the occasional author interview, discuss politics and legal issues, seek advice on book covers, profile members of my family . . . whatever feels right at the time. 401MTMcGuireCool if anyone wants to look my blog is at http://www.hamgee.co.uk/blog none of you will have heard of me, I write humorous fantasy fiction although my blog is just me wittering on really. And some of the funnier things McMini has come up with. Cheers MTM 402MarkJacobsFinally came into the 21st century and just started up my own website/blog, which will eventually consist of excerpts from my novels, articles accumulated during my time as a professional journalist, commentaries on martial arts, and other assorted rubric. Check it out under the May 3 entry. http://www.writingfighting.wordpress.com 412MaryChaseA little writing advice and some reflections: Writing What you Don't Know http://nulla-mary.blogspot.com/2012/04/writing-what-you-dont-know.html 413DeusExLibrusA bit late posting this, but take a look: http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com/2012/05/04/friday-faves-learning-universal... I've got a couple good articles, tend to post a lot of "I worked on this for a day or two" type stuff. Need to fix that. "Halloween and Stranger Danger" and "Self-Discipline" are probably my best posts thus far. 414MaryChaseMy blog is now on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Nulla-Dies-Sine-Linea/dp/B008105TTI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&... Has anyone else tried this? 416MaryChaseIt's not all that easy to find on the amazon website -- best to go to Google and search Kindle Publishing for Blogs. Then it is very easy -- I'm not quite sure how to promote sales though. Readers subscribe at 99 cents a month and the author gets 30%. 417SusanOleksiwI'm new to this group, so I hope it's all right if I jump right on. I do like finding blogs that offer something interesting. I have a blog http://www.susansblogbits.blogspot.com and contribute to others as well http://www.authorexpressions.blogspot.com. I recently posted a piece on the challenges of revising your old work. 419randyattwoodThanks for asking: Randyattwood.blogspot.com Here's my most read post http://randyattwood.blogspot.com/2011/09/note-from-walker-percy-about-41st.html 420DeusExLibrusFriday Faves from last week: http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com/2012/05/11/friday-faves-how-to-live-well-o... Great place, looking forward to learning more about it. Just published seven books representing 22 years of work. My blog is at: http://shadowfirebooks.com/ I try to update it daily. Thanks! 424rithebardI'm new here, I have three blogs and read a lot of them :) http://rithebard.blogspot.com/ http://adviseontravel.blogspot.com/ http://rismovieblog.blogspot.com/ 425Mary.Hutchings.ReedFor writers, and particularly for writers in transition, such as lawyers who want to be writers http://maryhutchingsreed.com/blog 426rithebardHi, I have three blogs. My main one is a writers blog; http://rithebard.blogspot.com/ I have a movie blog; http://rismovieblog.blogspot.com/ and a travel blog; http://adviseontravel.blogspot.com/ Let me know what you think :) 427DeusExLibrusWell, m3, is going through a bit of transition as I figure out what I want to do with it. Essentially, I'm intending it to be about healthy living, aimed at people my age (ie, younger adults). There will be stuff about books, but it won't be the only thing. Check out the about page here: http://modernmonkeymind.wordpress.com/about-2/ Still fine tuning it, can't seem to get it to say quite what I want, but wanted to get SOMETHING written. 428randyattwoodIt's interesting. That post http://randyattwood.blogspot.com/2011/09/note-from-walker-percy-about-41st.html is my most read post, but it has resulted in zero sales of the novel. I thought Percy fans would be interested, but I also think I'm dealing with people who haven't accepted the reality of self-publishing through ebooks and probably still look down their noses at it. 429CharlesBoydSelf-publishing has had a bad name for a long time. It used to be called "vanity press." It will take time for that to change. I got a self-published book (not an e-book) free through member give away and it was pretty bad. I suspect most are, certainly more self-published books are likely to be awful than books that go the traditional route, i.e. having a publishing company buy the rights to one's book. That's not to say your book is bad, the note from Percy would seem to indicate it is not. Anyway, good luck with the novel and your writing. 430MaryChaseCharles I agree that some self-pubs are awful, I suspect because many who are new to publishing don't understand the importance of revision and outside input from a good editor or writing group. However, many are great, especially those from writers who have been traditionally published in the past and are tired of jumping through hoops and earning 6% or less from mainstream print publishers and their marketing departments. The book world is changing quickly, that's for sure. Mary http://nulla-mary.blogspot.com/ 431DeniseMorelandI have a blog at http://denisemoreland.wordpress.com/. I write romances that are available on Amazon KDP (I believe them to be not too bad, the comments I have had so far bear this out, and I edit and proof-read well before publishing). My blog is on: http://deborahfenwick99.blogspot.de/ And also on Goodreads.com under my author page. HowHighShouldIJump.Wordpress.com 444MaryChaseI began my blog just over a year ago, and see it evolving in ways I never expected. I always tell my students that writing is a "process of discovery" Donald M. Murray, but I've never seen it in my own writing as markedly as in my blog. Granted, in my fiction, characters take over when I don't expect it and endings sort themselves out differently than anticipated, but my blog never fails to surprise me. What about the rest of you? Do you find yourself discovering thoughts you didn't know you had? nulla-mary.blogspot.com 445NathanDaniels75This was my last blog for "The Real Supermum" If you have a moment... check it out, and let me know what you think. GG 452hailandclimbFunny thing, I found that writing my blog was something I was most reluctant about. Now that I've got it going, I'm actually really loving it. It's still in its infancy, but it has been fun to actually hear from readers and connect with them that way. It's called Coins in the Well: http://coinsinthewell.wordpress.com You'll have to visit my blog to find out why I named it that... interesting story. 453RSchiverI have a little blog at http://rschiver.blogspot.com I'm bringing back my weekly interview feature where I ask a different author each week the same five questions. Last year I had writers such as WF Nolan, Scott Nicholson, Robert Dunbar, and Rick Hautala, as well as a host of other lesser known writers participate. I've been blogging for a year now and I'm really starting to feel like I'm getting a handle on what I'm doing, but I'm still an amateur. My posts cover my own writing in general, from book covers to storytelling. I also like to explore concepts such as ancient aliens and the power of belief. And I sometimes delve into the hard numbers like my self publishing comparison of the costs and charges of going with Authorhouse versus Createspace. Come take a look 454AMZoltaiI blog Monday > Friday about Reading, Writing, and Publishing. Come on over: http://nfaa.wordpress.com :-) 455tajohnsonBeen a quite busy to post lately but here is my Blog and Twitter link. My blogging and Tweets our mostly related to Leadership, Motivation, Project Management. http://tajkreativesolutions.wordpress.com/ https://twitter.com/DrTAJohnson 456oldstickI read your blog 454 and went to comment on it but chickened out when it asked for my password. I wasn't sure which one they wanted and was reluctant to put my e-mail one as I have been hacked by twitter before. Perhaps if you go to juliecround in wordpress I can find a way to have you in my reader list. Otherwise I will miss all that useful discussion. I know I'm a coward! 457AMZoltaioldstick, I don't have my blog set up to need "passwords"---but it does need an email address... Perhaps, you weren't logged into your own wordpress account? 458BarbaraBlackcinderAMZoltai, do you need mine: barbarablackcinder@wordpress.com. For those unfamiliar with my blog, I don't chat on it, I post my writing on it instead. I hope I write better than I chat. 460oldstick#457, I have your comment on wordpress. Now all I have to do is find you. So far you are still'pending' for security reasons. Goodness only knows why. I'll keep trying. You are right, I was reading your stuff from Bing. 461AMZoltaioldstick, I can see that my comment is "awaiting moderation"---you need to go to your Wordpress dashboard and click on Comments on the left side-bar---then, click "approve" for mine. I'm going over to my blog now to add your blog to my BlogRoll :-) 462brokeartistI blog, but it's mostly about my current work and writing. Have not blogged much lately as I'm preoccupied with a novel right now. Will pick it up again soon though. http://broke-artist.com/ 463PaulaCappaI have a fiction short story blog, Tuesday's Tale of Terror. Every week I write a short commentary on a classic short story and post a free link to the story online. Most stories are by 19th century writers like Lovecraft, Hawthorne, Poe, Dickens, AC Doyle, Amelia Edwards, etc. This week in honor of Women in Horror month, I have Mary's Shelley's The Mortal Immortal. A chilling short read! http://paulacappa.wordpress.com/ 464quintin.overockerI just started blogging a bit ago, mostly about the trials and tribulations of trying to get my book out there. http://quintinoverocker.wordpress.com/ 465oldstickWelcome Quintin. Do put some more books in your library, then we will know more about you. 466Philip.SchubertI've not been a blogger but this week discovered Faiza Iqbal Butt's great site. She invited me to be a guest blogger which I gladly accepted. See: http://bookrepository.blogspot.ca/2013/05/letters-to-granddaughter-story-of_15.h... 467katjevanloonI blog mainly at http://katjevanloon.com, though you can also find me on LJ under the username katjevanloon.
