Blog post: http://www.librarything.com/blogs/librarything/2011/08/import-your-livingsocialv...

I'm not expecting this thread to get much play—almost by definition the people who want this aren't members yet.

As a reminder, LivingSocial users with file-upload problems should email me (tim @ librarything.com).

Why do they get free lifetime membership just for importing 25 books?

Maybe as encouragement to test and/or to come over here?

Have to admit I'm tempted just to create an account to import it over here and get the free account.

Do we get anything if we point out to Tim that his use of the @ in his email points to a deleted profile account? :)

Yes, they get such an account.

You could too, for $1. When you go to pay, it's pay-what-you-want, and has been for some years.

Yes. You get a free lifetime account to LibraryThing-for-perfume, when we launch it.

Wow, that was easy! I imported my books from LivingSocial and it was a breeze! And I can be technologically challenged. Thanks for the heads up and the step-by-step instructions!

The lifetime doesn't go down that low, just the annual. Lifetime only goes down to $19.

I don't think so. When did you get it? Can you try again?

Confirmed.

I've received a 504 gateway Timeout error twice. First time around 4:50pm EST, second time about 5 minutes later. I'm going to try it 1 or 2 more times before waiting until later tonight or tomorrow.

Follow up to my post from a few minutes ago. I went to my home page, and the books are being added even though I had received a 504 gateway timeout when I tried to import the file. I'll assume that they will all show up in my library, but I'm confused...

Tell me what page it's happening after?

I think it was happening after you answered the various questions and was caused by the page taking too long to generate. If so, I have fixed the problem.

Thanks, Tim. That sounds like the point where it happened.
