I recently joined a Japanese language meet-up group here in New York City. The first meeting I went to was a Japanese street fair in Astoria, a newly developing area for Japanese to live. I enjoyed the fair but couldn't find any members of the group. Seeing American young people there in Lolita and Bleach costumes was interesting and the okonomiyaki was good but it would have been better to meet someone. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of group?
