Hi all! This has been a tough year again (I myself was laid off in August and am still looking) but I have been lucky enough to have a bit extra this season. So many others have not been as fortunate as I am so I would like to sponsor a couple of my LT family with a SantaThing gift. I can’t afford Amazon, but I can give a couple of small gifts. If you are interested send me a PM, and thanks to klarasu who started this tradition way back in the day!

ETA: Both of my sponsorships have been taken, I hope everyone has a happy holiday season!

Edited: Nov 30, 2011, 10:36am Top

Me too! I was sponsored in 2009 and would like to pay it forward now that I can spare a little bit myself. I can sponsor two people at the $15 level (which means you'd be able to pick from Powell’s Books, Harvard Book Store or BookDepository.com). Send me a private message if you're interested.

ETA: Both of mine have been taken; thanks folks! I hope everyone who wants to play is able to; if I could sponsor everyone I would!

Edited: Nov 28, 2011, 1:06pm Top

I would also be more than happy to sponsor two people at the $15 level. If you need a sponsor, please send me a private message.

ETA: Both my sponsorships are taken. Merry Christmas!

I'm also willing to sponsor people. I'm just not sure the best way to do it. Ideally I'd like to throw in $100 and let people choose themselves - either 3x$30 plus one $10, or 10x$10.

Please pm me, and I'll try and keep a running total here.

Just as a warning, I'm about 13 hours ahead of US EST, so am on here at strange hours, also as of Sunday I'm on a business trip, so may not be as available.

ETA: $10 is still available

I am offering two $20 sponsorships. First PM first served.

Nov 27, 2011, 2:54pm Top

I sent Scorbet a private message, but then I saw the "business trip as of Sunday" so I thought to post this here as well just in case, given the late date:

I was sponsored last year and had hoped to be able to afford to sponsor someone else this year, but 2011 has been more unkind than 2010. Actually, my baby daughter was sponsored via me; I only asked for age-appropriate books for her. This year I am cheekily asking for books for both my now 15-month-old daughter (16 months by the holidays) and myself because frankly it would be nice to have something to read that I get to keep.

Someone has already sponsored my daughter (via Bookmooching) at the $30 amount, and I saw that you had room left for sponsorships... may I cheekily ask for you to sponsor me, at any amount?

I am more than happy to sponsor a couple of readers. 2 $30 sponsorships . As Theo says: First PM first served.

My little man got sponsored :) Thank you MarryMary so much.

You're so welcome. I still have one left.

My sponsorships are gone. But there are more here. Merry Christmas

I think I am going to be fine, looking forward to see what my son Samuel gets through SantaThing this year. :) Look forward to reading to him.

Exactly how have people been doing this? Do we just pay and then give the paypal number to the person we sponsor?

Nov 28, 2011, 10:55pm Top

>11 seldombites: Yup, that is how my lovely sponsor did it.

Edited: Nov 30, 2011, 1:48am Top

>12 KarenElissa: Awesome. Thanks for the info.

I have a $15 sponsorship to give away. First to PM gets it.

Sorry, this has been taken.

I will be willing to give out 2 $20 sponsorships to anyone needing it. PM me if interested. :) Happy Holidays!!!

UPDATE: one left

Having recently moved to a house that needs a lot of work, I'm afraid I can't afford to sponsor anyone, but then, I am also lucky enough to not need a sponsor. Thank you so much to all the generous people who do sponsor -- such a kind and lovely thing to do!

Nov 29, 2011, 12:05pm Top

I would love to be able to participate this year. However, in order to do so I would need sponsorship. I would love to get some new books myself since almost all of my books are second hand (or third of fourth lol), but instead would use the sponsorship for my 13 year old daughter. She has actually asked for a couple of books for Christmas this year, and I would love to be able to get them for her, and possibly a book for my 3 yr old son with special needs.
If there is someone that would like to sponsor my family, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Check your PMs. :)

Hi all, please if someone is still willing to sponsor me, I would be so thrilled. If not, choosing is my favourite part anyway, so I can still leave comments! Thanks.

Edited: Thankyou!!!!

I was going to sponsor but I don't get a paycheck that I can use until the 3rd and can't cash it until the 5th so I guess I'm out.

Edited: Nov 30, 2011, 1:44am Top

So far I have PM'd 2 people asking if they still need a sponsor, but no response. Does nobody want my $15 sponsorship? It is currently 2pm Wednesday 30 Nov where I am. If I don't get any PM's by tomorrow morning, I'll just randomly pick another LT user...

Edited to add that this has been taken.

Nov 30, 2011, 4:25am Top

I wouldn't mind a $15.00 sponsorship, that would be very nice.

Nov 30, 2011, 5:58am Top

I'm sorry, but the sponsorship has been taken. Apologies to those who missed out. I wish I could help everybody!

Nov 30, 2011, 8:12am Top

I would love to sponsor a book-lover (preferably un/under-employed or involuntarily retired) at the $30 amazon.com level. Please PM me at LT. I am especially interested in someone who enjoys "regular" fiction or non-fiction as I have no understanding of books in the fantasy, sci-fi, or supernatural genres.

Edit: So strange that it wouldn't let me post my last message, that was really weird but I explained to you in PM.

Nov 30, 2011, 8:11pm Top

I wish someone would sponsor me, as I simply can't do it this year and was hoping to as otherwise there won't be much Christmas in the house this year (husband and brother-in-law got laid off, and my job barely pays the rent). But if not that is okay.

(It was going to be one $30 SantaThing for the two of us, as we read and like the same stuff and it was going to be a joint Christmas gift to ourselves, but we just can't manage it this year.)

I'd like to sponsor 3 people at the $15 level. Please leave a PM on my page (instead of replying on the thread). I've been sponsored myself- two years age I believe, and would like to pat it forward :)
Thanks- Jen
