I understand that we won't be able to actually sing here (which is a good thing as Hogwarts would have to be evacuated if I were singing!), but we can discuss songs that we like - posting links to YouTube so we can all see what we like. :)
As I am a girl of Gothic inclinations, I love me my Goth music. You ever need a depressing song playlist, ask me - I'm full of them. This song is by Within Temptation, a Dutch band, and it's called "The Howling." Whenever I hear it I think of the Hunger Games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOZvjVyYYqk&feature=related
How about you guys?
Whoa, I really like the music!!! Plus, the girl looks really scary...
I would also recommend this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B28e4zPx3o
Mind you, the best part of this song is the intro:)
Yeah, you don't mess with her. :)
Epic intro for that song! I've never heard of them, so I will have to check them out some more. I dig awesome guitar music!
Here's another song, a remake of a Nightmare Before Christmas song by Amy Lee (lead singer of Evanescence!!!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQj2iOEx-V8 - wonderfully depressing.
Well...I like pop songs the most. You know, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, Miranda Cosgrove, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Jason Mraz, Ke$ha...And some of those might not be pop, actually. Just giving you an idea of what kind of songs I like.
Recently, my friends danced to a song for a school competition. The song they chose was 'I Am The Best' by 2NE1. It's not really my style; I find it just okay, okay. But it's stuck in my head. XP Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7_lSP8Vc3o
Also, I found an English version sang by someone else! Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU1zkIb5HEQ ^_^
Do any of you have Garageband?
You might want to skip to 0:30 on the last one.
Nope, but I don't have much of anything on my PC (I'm holding out for Windows Live Movie Maker, because I want to try stop motion animation, but we'll see...). Do you, Fob?
4-I can see how that'd get stuck in your head... But I kinda liked it.
5-Those are pretty cool!
My all-time favorite song is Breakaway:
(Okay, I kinda have a lot of favorites, But this one is right now.)
I also like Britt Nicole:
Have any of you heard of her?
It's not bad for electronically made music! I'm kinda allergic to music made in studios and not with instruments, but that's some pretty nifty stuff to do with a computer - it's amazing what we can do with technology nowadays. :) Now that I think of it, there is one song I like that was probably made mostly in a studio; here it is, in all it's epic, dragon slaying, sword waving glory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRLdhFVzqt4
Love that song by Kelly Clarkson - the album it's from was one of the first albums I bought!
I've never heard of Britt Nicole, but she's not bad! I like the second song, especially. :) Have you heard this song by Francesca Battistelli? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbCfyZHSQbE&ob=av3n
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! May I be thankful for what I do have and stop complaining about what I haven't got. God bless you, my fellow Hogwarts students!
I just wanted to share another song (I know I am obsessedly responding to this thread, but oh well, I do like music!) and this one is by another symphonic metal/Goth/hard rock (I am honestly not good at classifying songs) band that is a little more popular in the United States than Within Temptation: EVANESCENCE!!!!! They just had their new album come out and this song is off of it.
The reason I want you to care about this song is because I have decided that it is the theme song of my protagonist in my forthcoming book, "The Shards." Whenever I hear this song, I hear my character in my head, wailing her agony, loneliness, love and longing - the lyrics are her thoughts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0p0tvMpTOc
What do you think? :)
Aww.....when I clicked on the link, the box where the video is supposed to show had a message:
This video contains content from EMI, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.
Sorry about that.
Wahhhhhhhhhh! Hold on, let me see if I can find another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cChO-MVu0_o
Is that better?
how about it will rain by bruno mars or someone like you by adele?
and i wish we could sing virtually, becuz i would ;)
Thank you, Fob. Honestly, you are very kind and Hufflepuffish, even to a Slytherin like me! :)
aw, come on! I promise I wont earn any points next semester! pleeeaaaaassseeeeee! I deserve it!
Just in case any of you wondered why Eris is the way Eris is, let one of my theme songs explain it to you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnzHtm1jhL4&feature=player_embedded
Hehe. Oh, is that an ambulance outside my house? Hmmm. I wonder why.
Okay, fine, I'm feeling sorry for you. How about something happy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v35fWf1CWFQ
I actually think that song is more frightening than the other one. *pukes*
All right, here's another video, significantly better than the two I previously shared - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Febr_t_qa9U&feature=related starring two of my favorite men, James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti. Somehow the combination of soul and opera makes my heart start to sing. :)
My friend just showed me this last night and I love it!!
Okay, here's a music video that just blew my mind! It's a pretty good tune also. It's a combination of creepy, cheerful, and strange:
here is my video- watch it. i want it for my ringtone :-)
Okay, here's my song - respect to Roma! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clntM9qyISo
that arthur one is stuck in my head!!!
jekyll jekyll hyde jekyll hyde hyde jekyll
jekyll jekyll hyde jekyll hyde!
Yeah, it was pretty catchy. That's why I ran away screaming! I'm trying to get my homework, and the last thing I need to be writing is "Jekyll Jekyll Hyde Jekyll Hyde Hyde Jekyll" when I'm supposed to be talking about the Hepburn Act and Teddy Rosevelt. :P
Here's 100 Gypsy Violins, one of the awesomest orchestras evah, playing Czardas, one of my favorite songs evah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqvsBA9UKjI
I adore violins, mostly because I haven't an ounce of musical talent in me. Have you ever tried playing Czardas?
No but I love David Garrett's version. I listen to his arrangements a lot. I try to play it, but it wouldn't sound very good...
*looking up David Garret* Very nice! I like it! Germany and Hungary FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!
I play the piano and I like it very much! I'm taking my Grade 4 practical exam next year. O.o
Well, I live in Malaysia, so mine might differ from yours. See, we have grades in piano. You know, Grade 1, Grade 2 and so on. A practical exam is the exam on the piano with pieces and scales while a theory exam is...an exam in theory. ^_^
wow... Malaysia... What's it like? (sorry for the weird question but i'm interested!)
Just thought I would post another song that I love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSnkVAAs_l4&ob=av2e It was inspired by Wuthering Heights (one of my favorite books) and it really captures of the passion of Heathcliff and Cathy. Gawd, I love that book.
I just thought this was the best thread to put this in, but I'm about to leave to perform in a chorus concert and I really don't wanna... Wish me luck.
This is the perfect place, Ginny. Good luck and I hope you pull it off, despite your reservations. We're rooting for you. :)
Well the girl next to me passed out at the end of our last song so I got her out a back door and got her to the principle and made it back in time for the exit. She's fine, but it was really scary. it's a good thing we were in the back row, she would've fallen off.
I'm glad she's all right - sounds like your chorus concert was pretty eventful.
Yeah... it was really awkward though. She just collapsed and my friend was on the other side of her and I'm thinking, "Oh, she must be fixing her shoe." then her face is like beet red. We all just kinda panicked. So at the end of the song EVERYONE is string except our director (she's sooo brilliant) and I had an opening in the risers behind me and so i got her off and her face turned a reallllyyy ghostly white. Then when I got back everyone was still staring at me. THEN when we were all leaving everybody wanted to know what happened.
I love performing too I would be scared out of my mind if my friend passed out
I hate performing! Well, I don't hate it, I just hate when people look at me. So if the entire audience looks the other way it'd be really fun!. It's just my face turns really red and I shake and everyone is just waiting for you to mess up... And when she passed out, even more people stared at me so I kinda froze up.
I hear you on that one, Ginny. I hate that. My hands start shaking and my mind goes blank. Grrrr.
I especially hate it when you have everything planned out and then you forget everything and then totally embarrass yourself. That's me right there. =|
Just wanted to post another song. It's "Coming Home, Part II", by Skylar Grey. I love it a helluva lot better than Diddy's rap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82S0njtGYvU
Haha I just it an iPod touch so I have an entire collection of songs in here! I have to say, I really like Adele
YES!!!!!!!!! ADELE IS AWESOME! Even my mom likes her, and she doesn't like anything!
My favorite songs of her's is "Set Fire to the Rain" and "Chasing Pavements." God, I love her!
I found this music video on youtube and thought it was really sweet. Tell me what you think. :)
Oh wow that is really sweet :) but it looked kinda fake.. Still a nice idea. Like pay it forward! Anyon seen that movie?
And who was that song by?
My new must- hear is Paradise by coldplay. They could literally rule the whole freaking world.
This song is real: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIbepKZC7Po
"And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt."
That is Johnny Cash. :) I adore him. I've listened to him since I was a little girl, and I listened to the song "Ballad of a Teenage Queen."
Sarah, just look up Johnny Cash - Hurt, lyrics (the music video doesn't have good quality sound).
So I have to learn all these songs for my district orchestra and I'm kinda freaking out.
These are the only three I have the music to so far.
Good luck Ginny!
I am singing in a talent show in early February... Here's the song(s) http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=OHtPMOpPCx4
Wah. It won't show. What is the song title so I can look it up on YouTube?
nice!! I am singing this song for my next audition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl75wWQwwfU
and I am almost as good as her!! ( if I do say so myself)
It might be too much to hope for that Sarah will be singing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSZkVsEkQ9M
Your video didn't work misguided child!! (can I still call u eris?)
And if you search glee Adele mash up it should be there
And wow flan u must be amazingggg :) im not lea Michele or a soprano so I can't do that song...
Wah. Just look up "O, Fortuna." And sure you can call MisguidedChild Eris. I have way too many pseudonyms, so when in doubt simplify. :)
misguidedchild was you Eris I kneeeeew it!
and thanks sarah! I'll try to post a youtube vid of me singing that, but sometimes my voice comes out weird on vid... just warning
Yeah, you might want to be a tad careful, Flan. You've got your location, first name, and pictures of you and your siblings all posted on the internet. Now, I doubt that anyone is going to trudge out to your city to hunt you down, but still - you might want to be careful with what you put out there. The internet is forever, and there are a crapload of creeps out there.
It's funny to think, the code name "Fob" may just save my life one day... :P But yeah Flan you should be cautious.
thanks guys... I know that. Thats why I don't have a facebook or anything, but I thought librarything was reasonably safe. AAAAAANNND... believe it or not, there are multiple girls my age name flannery in duluth!!
Yeah. But anyone can view your profile and the groups. LibraryThing is better than Facebook, in my opinion, but still - it is more open than Facebook.
But you don't have to put your E-mail. Plus LT is not a social networking site. So chances are that people who come to the website will not find out as much about you as they would on Facebook.
Hmm yeah haha if you google sarafirr (one of my many nicknames lol) my instagram account comes up :) its ridiculous how connected the world is
thats awesome... Here, Ill google my name:
never mind... all of them are me, but since I have been so accurately warned by my pals, the all carry truthful info about me or my family or my ( many) accomplishments,
so I won't.
*coughs* Maybe we shouldn't ask, as her telling us might narrow the results in a search engine by a pervert. Sorry for being paranoid, it's just the crap that goes down in the internet is sometimes not pretty.
thanks, and let me assure you sarah, there are many!!! (jk)
I'll bet that all of us Harry Potter fanatics know this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMv2vm6D-9w
It's beautiful. I love rock.
I am obsessed with this song, because I feel like such a badass when I listen to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpKoW824QAs
How do I find such awesome songs, or are you asking how to look up the awesome song that I just posted, because your i-pod thingey cannot go to the link as we have different computers? I think you meant the latter, so just look up: "Sherlock Welcome to London" and the first result will be the video I posted. :)
Oh, and this is just hysterical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXoYK4b_q24 My Little Ponies FTW!
I meeeeeeaaaannnnn... ow do you find the SONGS!!! and I don't have an iPod thingy!!!
Oh, mea culpa! Sorry, Flan, I thought that you mentioned once that you had an i-pod that gets internet. My bad. :(
How do I find these songs? Well, the "Welcome to London" song is a medley of two different songs that came from the BBC "Sherlock" TV show. I liked the songs very much so I looked them up on YouTube. I am an addicted music lover and I am always searching for new music to feed my addiction.
Here's another one! :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R828rFd2aI I love Hans Zimmer.
88- I always figured Fob was short for Fabian. Guess not.
I like my user name cause it's a nickname but nothing like my real name.
Eris- I love the spider pig song!!
everyone else- I HATE my username... i wasn't really thinking when I made it
right now i'm listening to my disney soundtrack: name ANY disney song and I can sing it all da way through baby!
Go to 'Edit Profile' and instead of changing your profile, look at the list of options to the left. There will be a link that says 'Change or Delete.' Click on it and it will give you the option of changing your password, username, or deleting your account. What you want to do is send in a request to change your username, and it is the second option on that page.
You will have to write in your new username and password, then check if it is available. If it is, then just submit. It takes about a day or two for the LibraryThing people to get to it, so keep checking into the website under your old username. If you can't access your account through the name "flanreader101" then you know that your username has been changed.
Hope that helps!
I believe that is has been that for around a day. Correct, Fob?
I don't know, probably. I just logged on after school and it had changed.
o, does it change every time that you have posted what name that you posted from? because I looked at all of you previous posts... :)
It changes! All your old posts written by you will bear your new name.
You send in a request to the LibraryThing officials to change your username, and as long as it isn't offensive or already taken, you can change your username to whatever you want.
I am really tempted right now to go and request a truly offensive name... *snicker*
Yep. Our sweet little Flan will be the baddest mofa in LibraryThing. ;)
What new name are you considering?
Umm, any particular characters from Greek mythology that you're fond of? That's how I got my name.
we'll, i'd like to stick to something close to my name... just so everyone knows to keep calling me flan...
When I changed my name on another account from QueenNemesis to MisguidedChild, it took a couple of days, although it sometimes takes only a day.
hey Flan how come it didn't all come up I thought you were doing Flan_Is_Not_Just_a_Dessert not Flan_Is_Not_Just_a_D.
Unfortunately, you can only use so many letters for your username. Sigh. Maybe you can try "FlanIsNotJustDessert"?
ya, they only let you use 20 characters. I am trying different variations, and what eris said is one possible way
Here's a video of bored Marines! Beware of the giant caterpillars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPrZIWrD2Rk
so am I! Unfortunately it isn't complete. It's supposed to day Flan Is Not Just A Dessert...
whoops, my username is supposed to be Flan Is Not Just A Dessert
OOH! OOH! since im not on my ipod i can post videos here! heres the song my friend and i were going to sing for a talent show, but then... i got mono :/
i was the someone like you part she was the rumour has it part... it is out of my range a little but i was working on it
nice!!! I sang that for my audition!!! That is my go-to emergency song!!
how cool would it be to all be able to meet in person??? I know how dangerous it is ( don't start lecturing me Eris), but I think I trust all of you not to be stalkers! I mean really, what stalker joins Librarything???????
that depends. I have a nano, but not a touch. Why do u ask?
oh well theres an app called kik which you can text people but just with their usernames not any numbers so its really non-personal.
Behold! I am such a hopeless Sherlock fan, that I am listening to this all day today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGXhfGPTqew
Hey Sarah, I know you're a big Sherlock Holmes fan - have you watched the BBC "Sherlock" series?
I. Love. It. And I am speaking as a persnickety Sherlockian who is picky about my adaptations.
"Sherlock" is set in contemporary times, and although this modern Sherlock Holmes has the reasoning and thinking skills of the original Sherlock Holmes, he is a completely modernized, using a cell phone, internet, and science to his advantage. Oh, and instead of being called "Holmes" all the time by his peers, he's known as "Sherlock."
Here's the first scene that we see of Sherlock, something that was only mentioned in the books: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaO-acc6NLY
I adore this show.
It's a TV show about a bunch of high-schoolers who are in a glee club, which is basically a singing and dancing club (I guess that's what it is) and it's also about the drama in their lives. My best friend is in to it, but I don't really like it. It's like a soap opera, and soap operas bore me. Give me British telly, please!
It's no totally a soap opera. Maybe a drama perhaps. I just like it for the music and the actors.
Just posting another piece of music. Want to see a tough Slytherin who wants to be a Marine cry? Play this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miLV0o4AhE4
It has kind of become a soap opera a little more but I still love it !! Omg flan did u c last week? It was so intense!!!!
And how are we expected to wait until April for a new one? Well I guess I'm going to be very busy... Tech week in 2 weeks... Then OPENING WEEKEND FOR THE WIZARD OF OZ
Woohoo! Good luck with that, Sarah. May you have hordes of male fans flinging themselves at your feet after you are through with your performance!
Will you have an accompanying moustache? Or just the sideburns?
Oh God, I just looked at the picture... good Lord in Heaven
Okay, Sarah, I guess that was a low blow. Peace offering? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM8erHpNJ2Q
I adore every single minute of this music, but the part that rips my heart out begins at 05:37.
OOOOOOOOOOH MMYYYYYYYY GOOOOOODD ERIS!!! I JUST HAD A HEART ATTACK!!! *panting*
OH MY GOSH HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS?!?!?!?!?!
if you haven't you must.
Man. I just watched all 30 min of it and it was pretty intense. Are you going to get the box with all the stuff?
since danielle said it was a half hour I didn't watch. Whats it about?
Look up "Kony 2012" on Google or Bing. That should give you the basics.
I like this documentary, too, as it talks about the slaughter of millions of people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y2KsU_dhwI
It's so easy to have blinders on when we're not immersed in a conflict of our own
Helpz, please! I need to choose a song to sing(a few months later XD), but I can't choose! I'm down to these 4 songs:
The Story of Us - Taylor Swift
Crazier - Taylor Swift
Mean - Taylor Swift
Last Christmas - Taylor Swift
Opinions? Ratings? And yes, I know all of them are sung by Taylor Swift. She's my favourite singer, see. :)
When I get home I'll listen to all of them and give you my opinion :)
T. Swift is great! I think you should sing either "The Story of Us" or "Mean."
Although, have you thought about singing "Safe and Sound?"
Crazier would be my choice if you are singing acapella. Are you? What are you trying out for?
Holy moly! Eris, we're more and more a like...same house...same songs....match made in harry potter heaven
We Slytherins get along magnificently. :)
And here's a song that I'd like to share. I want this song to be played at my funeral: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhJp0W0ku2w I'm an Irish girl at heart.
You should add tap dancing to that too. Like, tap dancing with bag pipes and all :P
Too much for me. Surprisingly, I don't go for old guys in skirts ( even if they are kilts)
I'd just like to say how much I love this song:
This is a musical place. So... I just played in our district music festival and now I'm REALLY hyper and I don't know what to do.
this is my favorite song, btw the video is kinda weird
Wow, that video sure is weird, Sophie... ME LIKEY! :D
Here's one of my favorite songs - I think of Sherlock Holmes or Tom Riddle every time I hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYtsSYq4Vi4&feature=related
that song is _ _ _ _ ing amazing.
here are some other really good songs(the first one is kinda inappropriate)
I've never really heard Good Charlotte before, but they are really good and right up my alley! I really like hearing new stuff, so thanks, Sophie. ^_^
This song has become one of my anthems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l76unGjRtBs
I intensely dislike pop, but I have to admit, this song is irrestibly catchy. Plus the dancing is good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhseD2tRLUY
Of course I don't like pop! I can understand why people do, as I once listened to it, but I've grown out of it. Rock and soundtrack music are my main squeezes now.
I like pop. And singers like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, Taio Cruz, etc, etc...
The concert was good. But since we only had two rehearsals it could've been better. And has anyone ever heard of... well I can't remember the name of the group but I guess it like 4 cellos and... I just need help remembering.
Do they play traditional classical music, or is it also instrumental? I'm asking because I know of one group called "Bond" that my friend is keen on, and there are four cello playing ladies in it. I'm not sure if that's what you're thinking of, though.
Metallica? I don't think they do cellos. I think you're thinking of Apocalyptica.
man, not many posts on weekends here, where is everybody?
Not like us poor unfortunate souls. We have no lives. *weeps bitterly*
I'm feeling moody right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19bBGxf5k6k
Eris, you post an astonishing amount of links to youtube, you know.. ( not that I'm complaining, I do love music)
I know! It's one of my bad habits - I listen to too much music, especially on YouTube, as none of my local radio stations play any of the music that I like.
I hear you. It seems like every other station is a pop station. Which is great if you listen to that, but I don't. And my area has only one rock station, but they don't play the rock that I like. Blah. It'll always be YouTube for me.
Youtube is great
this is what I'm listening to now, its a new song thats strangely addictive and has a super cool sound :
I think even you would like it Eris!
I know about that! This song is one I keep replaying like an idiot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRsiwBoUQPM Sorry, choirs get me every time, especially when they're singing in a foreign language.
that's a cool sound. I love listening to the power of so many voices at once
oh! We're doing this REALLY pretty song in chorus called She Sings! it's on Youtube and I LOVE it!
#244 - Wow. I looked up the song on YouTube and it is beautiful! You're so lucky that you get to sing pretty things. :) Oh, by the way, has your choir ever considered doing this song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcWo1hKHu40 I get chills every time I listen to it, especially at the 1:41 mark. It's such an undescribable song.
Sorry for posting again for the second time in a row, but I just watched a video on YouTube that makes me jaw drop, it is so creepily accurate. I answered yes to 70% of the questions... how does he know me so well? O.O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kes6KVbbeyo&list=UU0jIctUPBK6lHw4AYnGHvCA&...
Huh...Well I only answered yes to the book reading one. Guess I'm not a home schooler....oh wait, I'm really not a home schooler.
For anybody that's interested, here's what I said yes to:
1. I do indeed read more books in a month than my public-schooled friends do in a year.
2. I have said "Mom, can I take a break from school?"
3. I do work on school during the summer (only fun classes though - I'm going to be working on Latin during the summer and I am so excited!).
4. Dad used to help me with science when he got home. Now I'm not taking any science, thank God.
5. My friends have (on occasion) why I don't go to "real school."
6. WHO CAN NOT KNOW WHAT THE SILMARILLION IS??????? It's the Elf Bible, baby!
7. All I need to have fun is a library card. ^_^
8. Mom taught me language, and Dad handled the math. Mostly, however, I am self educated.
9. I didn't watch Power Rangers, mostly because my parents forbade (and still forbid) TV in our house. I don't think I miss anything, though.
10. Gluten-free is indeed the way to be! The whole family is allergic to gluten, so homeschooling helps us to keep the diet.
11. I can quote The Princess Bride muthabucka! Have fun storming the castle!
12. I don't eat fast food. ^_^
13. I always could solve the Encyclopedia Brown mysteries faster than he could when I was a crumbcruncher.
14. I finished the video. Bwahahaha!
I am definitely homeschooled. Even a stranger on YouTube who I've never met could tell. O_O
I love this song
(Eris, I think you will love this)
me too! I love alt- rock-acoustic- oldies ( the kind of stuff that your mom, depending on how old you are, listens to. At least, mine does.) I'm a solid John Mayer, Bob Marley, Coldplay fan. My favorite station is Cities 97. If you Google "Minnesota Cities 97" it will show you the kind of stuff that I like to listen to. Eris,f you like that stuff, our interests are not so different.
Sophie - That's actually a pretty good song! I'm surprised, since I usually don't like Green Day, but it has good vocals, a nice chorus, and it's rock! :D
Flan - I've never really listened to Mayer or Bob Marley, although I do love the songs "Cemeteries of London" and "Viva La Vida" from Coldplay. :)
By the way, a reason I don't listen to pop - they try to be catchy through autotune and repitition, and it just rubs me wrong, since I've listened to far more beautiful, catchy songs my whole life. This song, in my opinion, wipes every single Rihanna, Lady Gaga or Britney Spears song off the planet (it makes me want to dance, dance, dance!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtM2WSFv4UI&feature=related Be sure to turn on the Closed Captioning button in the corner of the video, by the way - the lyrics are beautiful and they sum up my feelings about God.
Oh, and that's one of my favorite films, too. I cry every single bloody time I watch it.
This song makes my heart hurt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW4LTcQxD2k
I know Im kind of changing the topic, but for the few of the people who live near Gorham, Maine, there is usmcc University of Southern Maine Childrens Choir (Not really children) in Gorham Maine. It is the best choir Ever :^) Im in it.
Cool zebrapants! I am Kate. I sing in a childrens chior too, but its no where near Maine! What kind of music to you sing? My chior sings a little of everything, but mostly simple choral arangments. Recently we did an opera kind of thing called Camena Barana (excuse my spelling, I sounded it out the best that I could)!!!
Ah, Carmina Burana! Such an epic, medieval-inspired symphony! Good on you and your choir for doing it.
btw everyone, Kate is an amazing singer ( almost as good as me)
I go to a sort of choir tuition, but I'll be switching to solo soon and my school recently started a school choir. I'm in, yay! We're singing a Malay song called 'Digarhayu Tanah Airku'. I'm a Soprano 1. :)
Geesh, what is it with all of these songstresses at Hogwarts Castle? I am a scrub jay amongst a forest of nightingales! Well, I am happy that you guys are making beautiful songs with your voices. :)
Thxs eris! That sounds cool Lilly!!!
I wish we could hear eachother sing.
maybe we could record and post it here???
I suppose I could record my singing on youtube. I won't share my face unless there's a crowd, though. I like my anonymity.
Well, saying that I already HAVE pictures of me up, I would be okay with it. But I don't want it to seem like I'm showing off or whatever
My voice has taken a nose-dive, and with two consecutive concerts starting tomorrow. :(
all right, I have to wait until I'm alone in my house, then I'll post a vid
Awesome! Until then, who wants to listen to the music that Eris plays when she feels like being a jerk to her neighbors? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIvXxU7aqf4
Can we say major head banging music!
Yep. Something about German lends itself very nicely to metal! :D
All right y'all, you asked for it. Please note though, this is probably the worst I have ever done because, as you can probably see in the video, I am suffering from a cold. Note the red nose and weary expression.
I AM SUCH A DORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. You are very pretty! I'm sorry about your cold, though - I hope you get better.
2. Dang, you can sing! Hooray for altos! :D I think you did a good job on the song, even with your cold.
Nice Flan! You should hear her in person...she is awesome!!! When did u get an utube account?
WOW!! YOU GUYS!!! I'M GRINNING SO WIDE RIGHT NOW!!! AWWWWWW!!! THANKS!!!!
I got my account a while ago, just so I can make comments and stuff on vids. Thanks for the compliments and--Oh, yea... ALTOS RULE!!!
Now it's someone else's turn!
Hehe, don't ask me! :D I sound like a cat jumping off the Empire State Building. Instead, I'll post a drawing I'm working on (it's of a flapper girl):
I don't sing, but here's a beautiful song - have you ever heard it, Flan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcHI2uNHrvQ
Oh, and by the way, Flan, it said on your YouTube account that you're nineteen - wow, really?
Nope... whoopsy daisy :D
no I have never herd that song but I love it!!
And Eris, you could probably sing this:
OMG, and Holy Crapperdoodles!!
I am in awe!! have you ever considered sending your work to a magazine?
Haha, funny song! Maybe I could handle that. ^_^ That or this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSEST-oQH68
Nah, I'm too lazy to send my stuff to a magazine. Besides, I prefer my writing to art, especially since my mom is much better at it than me (she's an artist)!
Thats neat that your mom is an artist! Your house must be cool then!!
It is - it's filled to the brim with her artwork! My mom is one of those artists who can paint or draw in any medium, except for charcoal (she hates it - too messy) and oil pastels (which she dislikes on principle, as they're quite harmful). Other than that she isn't afraid of anything! Heck, in high-school, she was quite the master of stained glass.
(I love my mom. ^_^)
this is one of the weirdest songs i've ever heard
Hehe, it's not the weirdest song I've ever heard. This song, my dears, takes the cake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgCk3bnvO5Y&feature=related
Because, you know, I want my great love to be compared to a couple of squirrels screwing each other. Listen long enough and you'll get to hear the squeaking!
Or this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRAs5rs54z4
That song is actually the official backwards version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnzHtm1jhL4&feature=related
"Muskrat Love" or "They're Coming to Take me Away?" To be honest, I think "Muskrat Love" is nightmare inducing.
here is another really scarring video
i know, the first time i saw it i was eating gummy bears and i had to throw them out cause i was afraid they would start dancing.
heres the english version for those of us who don't speak French
Ah, yes. My life is now completed because I can understand what the hell it was saying.
No, wait, don't kill me! This should wipe that obscentity out of my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6EcvwysyoU&feature=g-trend
i need to see that
i also need to see this
I'm not a huge Spiderman fan, but I hope that movie does well. It looks pretty good!
I'm also super excited for this film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4EZULqhP2E Oh, yeah, we Celtic girls are badass!
2012 is going to be such a good year for movies. I'm also too excited for The Hobbit! I can't wait for the next trailer to come out.
The prettiness! I can't take it anymore! *runs around screaming*
Choirs have always been a weakness of mine. Thanks for showing that, Rozax! Really beautiful singing.
very nice Rozax! i love chiors that appreciate and sing true music!!!
I'm happy to share! The other two uploads following this one are incomplete, but I don't know what the technical difficulty was, there. I'll see about getting my husband to record the next concert.
#303 - As far as I can tell, anyone 18 and up can join. Somewhat unfortunately, the majority of this choir is over 50, so we're lacking a certain balance. I think it has something to do with 20-somethings trying to figure out what the hell we're doing with our lives (present tense), let alone trying to figure what we want to do with it (future tense). I'm trying to convince my husband and a few of his coworkers to join. Once I get to know my new coworkers (as I am the new one), I'll probably pester them a little, too.
Im sorry, I haven't been on here in a while, shame on me, but I sing different languages all the time. I even got to play my ukelele in a song called ahe lau makani. Did I mention that this song is from hawaii?
I sing in some different languages too, but i have never completely learned one. I have done spanish latin and multiple african ones!!! (All with my childrens chior)
Yeah, almost every song we do is in a different language. South african, german, latin, and lots of other stuff. Adele rocks!! Honestly, I am more of an alto
I have this friend who loves adele so much she writes adele's name on her music books. Anyway, I would love to hear your choir sing.
P.S. What state do you live in?
hey eris, i think you would like this:
That's pretty good, Sophie! I don't go for alternative rock most of the time, but that song was nice. Plus I really liked the hairstyle on the drummer. It's like mine! :D
I am really obsessed with this song right now - it's so beautiful (yes, I heard it on Doctor Who, but I think even you non-fans will like it!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05C2g6bTjyo
OMG! I AM A PUBLISHED MUSICIAN! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wFtBskBZN8&feature=plcp
Fob, what are those hooting noises in the song??
and BTW: IT WAS SOOO COOL!!
There's supposed to be a cymbal clash at one point, but for some reason you can't hear it.
THis song will be stuck in your head for days. (Just skip the first 2 minutes)
It was a wakey wakey song at workcamp. They blast it over the PA system at 630 in the morning
i literally cannot stop listening to Ronan Parke. This was him in 2011. watch it then tell me hes not amazing :D
That's why I love the internet - it allows us to do nifty, beautiful things like that. Thanks, Rozax!
