here's where we can post who we think should play characters in the catching fire movie and mockingjay

anyone got any ideas for finnick?

Tom Felton. And not just because I think he's the hottest thing since God invented volcanoes, but he honestly would fit the role! Slightly cocky, gorgeous voice, incredibly good looking...

Nov 26, 2011, 6:36 pm

Isn't he a little old for it though??
How old is finnick in the books??

5ErisofDiscord
Nov 26, 2011, 6:37 pm

Finnick was 24 and had bronze hair, which Tom's natural hair color is. Tom Felton is also 24. :)

Oh ok.
I thought finnick and tom were a lot older than that.
My mistake.

>13 mrmcfluff: yes he is! what do you think? does he look like a finnick?

>14 mrmcfluff: he is wierd looking. no offense. he has a tiny chin...or something. is that mean to say?

16mrmcfluff
Nov 29, 2011, 10:10 pm

The gryffindor guy is okay, he would have to die his hair really blond to pull it off.

Jack Gleeson is in game of thrones. I don't know if you guys have ever seen.

so far i like the first guy best. i love tom felton, but i dont know if he could be as intense as the role would require him to be.

18mrmcfluff
Nov 30, 2011, 6:03 pm

Jack Gleeson is very intense on game of thrones. But your right Sarah I like the first one the best too.

Alex Pettyfer seems very close to the image i had of Finnick myself. I'm a bit annoyed that Catching fire won't appear until autumn 2013, though.

21mrmcfluff
Dec 2, 2011, 7:22 pm

I would rather have a good second movie instead of one that is sooner. Bit your right waiting for the second one will be agony.

I thought of Ryan gosling for finnick. Maybe not the perfect guy but he's not bad.

How about Jamie Campbell Bower? He could always dye his hair blonder, like they did for Tom Felton (because, let's face it - how many actors have natural, extremly light blonde hair?). http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Gellert_Grindelwald

And another picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/JamieCampbellBowerCCJuly09.jp... (He looks a tiny bit like a girl in this one, in my opinion, but hey, we all have our moments of bad cameras)

Oh, by the way, interesting tidbit: the girl who plays Ginny Weasley, Bonnie Wright, is engaged to Bower.

24mrmcfluff
Dec 3, 2011, 7:08 pm

He seems a bit to... Intense for me. I think finnick should be rather easy going yet strong spirited.

25Mariah7
Dec 3, 2011, 11:30 pm

gosling is too old in my opinion.
and yea i agree with you, mrmcfluff.

26sarahy
Dec 5, 2011, 6:16 pm

still like the first guy best

27mrmcfluff
Dec 5, 2011, 7:19 pm

Maybe we should vote on it. Vote who the best finnick would be out of the guys we have shown pictures of.

28Mariah7
Dec 6, 2011, 12:03 am

first guy!

Dec 6, 2011, 6:53 pm

Oh, wait! I have an idea for who plays President Snow! It should be Malcolm McDowell! :)

Dec 8, 2011, 2:34 pm

I like the Griffindor guy. But the first one is good too. I always pictured him as being really tan with dark hair, more like the guy whos playing Gale.

Vote: Who thinks first picture guy (alex pettyfer) should play Finnink in catching fire?

Current tally: Yes 4, No 0, Undecided 1

Thank you Sarah for making an official voting system.

Yeah, he's a country singer that contributed music to the movie Footloose. If you want Finnick to have a Southern accent, he's perfect.

35mrmcfluff
Dec 11, 2011, 11:53 pm

Wouldn't that be so cool!!

lol. not an actor though....might not work out too well.

hmm he doesn't look quite right to me...

I think its time we started to discuss another character for the cast.
Who is the perfect Mags in your eyes? Remember Mags is the spunky 80 year old previous hunger games victor.

I think Rita Davies should play her. She played the blind, elderly woman in the Sherlock episode "The Great Game." The top, lefthand picture of this search is her: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=rita+davies+sherlock&FORM=BIFD#x0y0

It should be her, or Judi Dench.

40Mariah7
Feb 4, 2012, 7:31 pm

really any old woman would do. but rita looks good.

41ErisofDiscord
Feb 4, 2012, 7:32 pm

She was really heartbreaking to watch in "The Great Game," so that's why I suggested her.

42Fob45
Feb 5, 2012, 10:05 am

This is gonna sound stupid and you'll all probably hate this suggestion, but what about Cloris Leachman? :P

43mrmcfluff
Feb 5, 2012, 11:01 am

I googled her so everyone can see what she looks like.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9e/ClorisLeachmanJune09.jp...
She not a bad choice fob.

44ErisofDiscord
Feb 5, 2012, 12:56 pm

Huh. Not bad. What roles as she been in? Because believe it or not, all old ladies are not created equal - her acting skills must come into play, rather than just what she looks like.

45mrmcfluff
Feb 5, 2012, 2:05 pm

She is the grandma on "Raising Hope". Its pretty funny and she is funny. I don't know what else she is in though.

46Fob45
Feb 5, 2012, 2:20 pm

Here's her wikipedia article. It shows everything she's been in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloris_Leachman

47ErisofDiscord
Feb 5, 2012, 2:39 pm

She was in Young Frankenstein! I didn't know that.

I don't think she'd be a good match, however. She's more of a comedic actress, not drama. She's the right age and she looks the part, but I don't think that the directors would be looking for someone who is mostly known for comedy.

48Fob45
Feb 5, 2012, 2:56 pm

I agree. It was just the first thing that popped into my mind. :P

49ErisofDiscord
Feb 5, 2012, 3:06 pm

Maybe Judi Dench? But she doesn't do frail very easily, which is what Mags was described as in Catching Fire. Dench is just so... intimidating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judi_dench

50Fob45
Feb 5, 2012, 3:25 pm

Hmmm. Maybe. But I liked your suggestion of Rita Davies better.

51ErisofDiscord
Feb 5, 2012, 3:39 pm

I do, too. :) Judi is too imposing - Mags has to be more subtle. Plus Rita Davies broke my heart when she, er, (SHERLOCK SPOILERS!) exploded.

52GinnyW
Feb 6, 2012, 9:11 pm

I think Rita Davies is perfect.

53mrmcfluff

I was also thinking about Helen Miren. But maybe she is to "put together"??

54ErisofDiscord
Feb 8, 2012, 6:07 pm

She looks too strong, and as you said, "put together." Mags needs to be frailer.
