Am I the only one who laughs out loud every darn time I see this under LibraryThing News?
Nothing to see here. Move along.
I just really enjoy the sense of humor of the LT staff with their postings. They crack me up.
Me too. Along with "room full of monkeys working on your problem," and inflatable rhinos. I knew the very first day I was on to something unusual and special. I looked at the TOS and it said simply, "Be nice."
The bit about giving my book reviews to street gangs was what caught my attention.
Speaking of monkey errors, doesn't the "rampaging elephant" one instruct the user to go hide the peanuts?
"To receive a copy of these Rules and Conditions, print them out, put them in a self-addressed stamped envelope and mail them to yourself, or to a friend willing to take part in such madness." - Early Reviewer rules
How did I miss the rampaging elephant?! Or, for that matter, the street gangs?
The street gangs are under Account Settings on the Edit Profile page. I don't think I've encountered the elephant.
It's an error message, like the roomful of monkeys. You may just have been lucky.
I think "hide the peanuts..." is "to my mind" the best so far.
Please tell me how to generate that error!
ETA. Oh on so many levels.
I've seen the rampaging elephants several times. Usually a strange error has happened to LT, and I have to exit the website.
I just ran into this error at youtube:
500 Internal Server Error
Sorry, something went wrong.
A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation.
If you see them, show them this information:
(a few more pages of encoded data)
I think the encoded data might be the works of Shakespeare. Would save the poor fellows so much time.
I've seen the monkey error message, but I didn't get told to give them anything if I saw them.
17> Here, or on YouTube? Here, the monkeys are just working. The info for them is a YouTube error message. Neat that the highly trained monkeys are spreading...
Sorry, there was an error generating this page. It might be a passing thing; please try again in a moment.

Also, you might want to consider upgrading, since paying members get half as many errors.
I haven't seen the elephants around for a while. Must be because I'm out of peanuts.
Yeah, paying members should get to see the elephants more often, not less!
I want elephants too!
ETA: Not that I don't like the monkeys. I like them very much. I just think paying members should have access to all the wild life. I wonder if there are more animals that we aren't seeing...?
> 23: Buy more peanuts.
Seriously though. The elephants error happened when server couldn't handle the demand. Glad I haven't seen it in a while.
Had to hunt this down on the hard drive and then upload it to LT since sharing it from Facebook wouldn't work.
