Is someone celebrating Dickens' birthday by trying to fix these pages? or is this a bug I should report elsewhere? The page I'm trying to go to is: http://www.librarything.com/combine.php?author=dickenscharles which I think I got to via the combine/separate link from the dickens author page connected to one of my books . . . I saw there was a big Combiners brew-ha-ha related to Dickens last year, but perhaps the birthday celebration is time to get things more fixed?? 2keristarsDickens is troublesome because there are so many works, it takes forever to load the combine/separate page. Have you tried going to the editions page for your copy of Sketches by Boz to c/s from there? 3rsterlingI had to force the helpers log back a long time, but I found on January 10 that someone "combined Charles Dickens Library Set of 18: Vol. 1, Sketches by Boz by Charles Dickens, Sketches of Boz & Other Early Papers by Charles Dickens, Sketches by Boz by Charles Dickens (see work)" Do some copies of the Dickens Library Set have "other early papers" in volume 1? The problem now is going to be figuring out exactly what editions are just Sketches of Boz and exactly which ones have other stuff. 4rsterlingOk, so there are 2 canonical titles, which means the "and other early papers" canonical title was originally on another work that was combined in. So, searching CK for part of that canonical title, I get not only the current work page, but also a work page with a hyperlink containing work number 10956463. That hyperlink now redirects to the combined page, but I was able to get a google cache of the 10956463/editions page pre-combination: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:vjTRRF8QfhwJ:www.librarythi... It only had one edition in it: The Works of Charles Dickens. Standard Edition. Complete 20 volume set Vol 1 Sketches of Boz & Other Early Papers So, perhaps the 20 volume set and the 18 volume set are different? Anyway, should be pretty easy to find and separate that one edition, from the editions page of the combined work: http://www.librarything.com/work/19637/editions/ Then all that will be needed is to delete that second and incorrect canonical title. 5LucindaLibriThanks everyone! keristars . . . when I go to editions from my book page (thanks for that suggestion, much faster!) it lists all the Sketches by Boz without the "other early papers" yet the work is still titled as including the "other papers" . . . so I'm guessing it now has to do with what rsterling is pointing out about canonical title . . . but can't seem to find where to fix that (and worried I'll mess everything up) . . . I'm guessing part of the problem is that my set has no ISBN so somehow got lumped inappropriately . . . (BTW, in my set SoB is Volume XI ) | AboutThis topic is not marked as primarily about any work, author or other topic. TouchstonesNo touchstones |
