Currently, I am reading 1776 by David McCullough for May. This is a challenging book for me because my knowledge of history is embarrassingly poor. So I am continually searching the internet looking for information about the revolution. I, thought, while I was at it I would try to find some interesting information about the book and the author...

Although I am a very active "talker" in my book group I am usually a passive "starter" - I do a lot of responding to topics that others bring up. I have also never been the discussion moderator/facilitator (it is on a voluntary basis and I never volunteered).

Other than the typical "discussion guides" for the typical book club books - where do you guys find information for starting great discussions. In particular, for a book like 1776, that isn't a typical book club book where there is no discussion guide I can find, what do you all do?

As an aside, anybody have any good websites for American Revolution information - particularly maps of battles.

I usually try to have sticky notes of some sort handy when I am reading something for book club. I mark the page and sometimes even take notes on it so if I want to discuss it later it doesn't take me tons of time to find it again. I do this with library books as well and then transfer my notes here to LT or my paper journal which eventually ends up on LT.

There are some great general resources for book discussions...

edited to fix links, but still looks goofy--code is the same for all links I don't know why it isn't working
