Looks like he was 73 and died from cancer. I hope it was it was peacefully (though, I know, cancer...) We all have to go sometime, and 73 is a pretty nice old age to live to these days. So we'll just have to make do with the time he shared with us. 5iansalesI loved his design work for "Dune" with Jodorowsky, and The Incal, the bande desinée they eventually salvaged from the project. 6DugsBooksThis is my most memorial Moebius, from the back page of Sept. 1977 Heavy Metal. If a link to the image is preferable let me know - any smaller would lose a lot detail IMOHO. ![]() 8dukedom_enoughAnd there's the look of the movie "The Fifth Element" - the future New York City, especially. Did he get a credit in the titles for that? 10dukedom_enoughInteresting. Of those films I've seen, only "The Fifth Element" really jumped out at me, at first viewing, as "Moebius!", though. 11artturnerjr>9 Thanks for that. I thought I remembered seeing that he had worked on ALIEN; although not as pronounced as H.R. Giger 's contribution, his aesthetic sensibilty is still very clearly present there. 12DugsBooksI knew I had seen the Modoshawan Ship in Fifth Element before, or very similar, in Heavy Metal ![]() 13RobertDayI caught 'Alien' last night on network tv, and was gratified to see Moebius in the credits. 14artturnerjr>13 Coincidentally, I picked that one up on DVD a couple of weeks ago as part of a two-disc set (along with ALIENS). I think it's due for a rewatch. 15DugsBooksOne last graphic that I saw for the first time {& felt would be appreciated here, thanks for the tip #7 Papiervisje!} at a link posted in "Literary snobs" by CliffBurns Great link, it has over 100 pages of Moebius evidently. ![]() Join to post | Touchstones |
