How is the syntax to add polls to a topic? Thanks for any help in advance!
<vote> Your poll question here </vote>
Current tally: Yes 7, No 1, Undecided 2
One further point, you can have multiple polls in a topic/thread, but you can only have one poll per message/post.
These votes are dual choice only. Is it possible to have multiple choice as:
Translate foobar to a) foo, b) bar, c) blabla etc. ?
Is it possible to have multiple choice
No, the only way available is shown in the example in message 2 - Vote: Yes | No | Undecided
I was thinking at making queries about priorities as used by http://www.timesystem.com/ .
RSI and bug topics might be classified as having:
Prio A: "both important and urgent"
Prio B: "not important but urgent"
Prio C: "not urgent but important"
What is neither important nor urgent has no priority.
I do think it would be useful to have ways of prioritizing RSIs, though not necessarily via the poll system. I keep hoping that bugs at least will eventually be sufficiently under control that any new ones will just be addressed promptly without prioritization, but that may be overly optimistic.
I must confess I have never been enamoured with "polls",
What do they prove? A very small sub-set of a tiny sub-set of one group has an immediare opinion.
ETA. I do use them for Humour, but nothing else.
Vote: Is Voting Good
Current tally: Yes 1, No 4, Undecided 5
Or could I rephrase my question:
Vote: What is voting good for?
Current tally: Yes 2, No 1, Undecided 7
The problem with prioritizing RSIs by vote is that, except possibly for some programmers, most of us have no idea whether a proposed RSI is easy or difficult to implement, whether it is dependent on other changes in the site, etc.
Voting wouldn't solely determine the order of implementation. Obviously there would be a combination of "how important is this for users?" with "how easy is this to implement?"
Annix is mainly translating the user interface into Esperanto while I try to involve more people (both users, authors and librarians) here inviting contacts from Wikipedia, Facebook, Esperanto organizations etc. At a moment in time we might need to get feedback about the usage of synonyms, upper / lowercase writing and other language specific things.
Our main language group Esperanto! seems to be orphaned. The language code is "English" because that language code "Esperanto" was not available in the past. It would be a good idea to demonstrate via a poll that this request is important. This would be a topic for a more general "LT Site support" group.
It would be necessary to make a poll about who could administrate or co-administrate an orphaned group for the next five years.
Other issues addressed in non language specific groups relate to technical questions where a feedback from a wider audience is requested / useful.
