Note: Please don't mess with this example, trying to fix it. It's important that LT staff be able to look into it.

I've ran into something quite weird that I don't remember seeing any bug reports about.

I have this book:

http://www.librarything.com/work/book/84035690

(Well, I don't really have it. I added it for the cover to test something.)

My book info is
Dominion
by C. S. Friedman
and if you look at the work details, it shows
Work details
Dominion by C. S. Friedman
That's all correct. However, whenever I click on a link to a different work, it goes to this book. The work is Black Sun Rising by C. S. Friedman:

http://www.librarything.com/work/35805

When I go to that url, here's what I see:
Dominion by C. S. Friedman

(...)

Your other editions
Black Sun Rising by C S Friedman; Daw Books, Inc. (1991), Hardcover, 489 pages

Work details
Black Sun Rising by C. S. Friedman (1991)
For some reason, it is linking my book from the other work with this one. If I log in using another account, clicking on the Black Sun Rising work link takes me to the right work. So it's specifically my brightcopy account where it's getting gummed up. LT staff will need to log in as me to see the same result.

It seems like no coincidence that this is a title I did some testing on. I took my original separate Dominion book and gave it an ISBN of the Black Sun Rising book. I was testing to make sure that would pull my edition out of the Dominion work and stick it in the Black Sun Rising work. It did. Then I removed the ISBN from the Dominion book and it went back with the Dominion work.

I'm wondering if there is a flaw in the process that handles moving editions back and forth. I haven't clicked "Recalculate editions" because I want LT staff to see this. Most users aren't going to know about "Recalculate editions" and so there's probably more books out there that are messed up.

Where do you click on the book from? Your catalog? Somewhere else?

#2 by AnnieMod> Anywhere. Like the post above. Or on a series page. Or on a touchstone. Or just pasting the 35805 work link above directly into a location box in the browser.

Damn strange, really.

More info:

Notice how on the series page, it doesn't put a checkmark next to Dominion, even though it's in my catalog.

And on the stats Series page, it only lists Dominion and not Dominion and Black Sun Rising, since it thinks my Dominion is actually BSR.

This seems to be working now. Want to weigh in on what the problem was or what fixed it?

Sorry. I am not sure. I'll put this in "needs discussion" for a while in case it resurfaces.
