Can't add March book, "Beyond Grimm" to libraryJoin LibraryThing to post. This topic is currently marked as "dormant"—the last message is more than 90 days old. You can revive it by posting a reply. 1daisy32Apr 7, 2012, 3:40pm
Something's amiss... whenever I try to add "Beyond Grimm" to my library, I get stuck in a loop where the book can no longer be found. There's a record, with one review, here: http://www.librarything.com/work/12340904but attempts to "Add This Book" create a search where the book itself isn't found. Can't review a book I can't add... help! 2lilithcatEdited: Apr 7, 2012, 3:46pm
You can add the book manually if you can't find it in any of the databases.
ETA: I gather from looking at the catalog records of the other people who have entered the book that that is what they have done. As it's an ebook, I doubt you'll find it in any of the data sources. 3daisy32Apr 7, 2012, 9:15pm
Hmmm. I suppose, but won't that just mean multiple manual entries? Sloppy cataloging. 4daisy32Apr 7, 2012, 9:15pm
I've added other ebooks from ER before, and not had this problem. 5 jbd1Apr 7, 2012, 9:32pm
Not so long as the entry you add combines in (or is combined in) with the other entries, no. For eBooks not available via Amazon, often manual entry is the only way to get them in the system. 6nordieMay 2, 2012, 6:24am
I've had the same problem with the "Kindred Spirits" book that I got as part of the March batch. I was able to add to my "Goodreads" library - which recognised it as an ebook. However, no matter how I attempt to add, including using the ISBN for the ebook loaded into Goodreads it wont come up.
I did add manually into my librarything shelf, read it, and reviewed it. However, I've won another book for April, and in checking my shelf it says I have still to review Kindred Spirits and that I need to add it. Which I have done, a month ago. I'm now worried that I may be "penalised" for the system not recognising that I have done what I am supposed to do, after not allowing me to do what it should! 7 jbd1Edited: May 4, 2012, 8:09pm
>6 - Yours wasn't combined with the main entry; I've done that now, and when the script which checks for ER reviews runs next, it'll grab it. You're all set.
I've been having the same problem adding Beyond Grimm to my library. It's very annoying that the "Add to your library" button in the "Early Reviewer Books you've won" page doesn't work. This is the first book I've gotten through the Early Reviewers, and it seems to be more of a pain than a pleasure, not sure I'll bother asking for more. 9 jbd1May 4, 2012, 8:11pm
>8 - A thorough redo of the entire "add books" process is in the plans, but for now we have what we have. The "Add to your library" button on that page simply takes you to where you can add the book. In this particular case, the book needs to be added manually. | 43,481 messages This group does not accept members.
