Yo peeps

I joined this site a while ago but had problems sorting my books out for some reason. Been a Stephen King fan for a whopping 18 years or so now. I am yet to burst my Hunger Games and/or Harry Potter bubbles; so far those volumes remained untouched by me.

I have written and self-published four books, the first three of which are available for free on Amazon US and Smashwords. My latest book, Shades of Grey, is a collection of three short stories and has had some jolly spiffing reviews by all and sundry.

Welcome to LibraryThing.

A word to the wise - a lot of members don't want to see much self-promotion by authors so a group was created for them to talk about their work AND to talk to each other. Try posting about your books at

http://www.librarything.com/groups/hobnobwithauthors

Readers keep up with the group as well.

Cheers.

I have been looking around in the various groups actually and it is all very different to how I am used to on Goodreads.

I suppose it's all in what you're accustomed to. I started here, and GoodReads seems foreign, odd, and not welcoming to me.

Give it a bit; I'd like to know if you become a convert.

Beware, there are a lot of ghastly people here

A lot? Really? I've encountered maybe a couple of people who are occasionally unpleasant or abrasive, but I'd say 98% of those I encounter, or whose posts I read, are perfectly civil and normal.

Me too. I love it here. Lots of book discussion, lots of nonsense, lots of friends.

Pish tosh. Put those people on ignore, and it's as if they don't exist. Magical, really.

Right. This is essentially a site for book lovers, not for people trying to vend their books. But it's mostly friendly.
