Okay...so I am going to give this another shot this year. I kind of fell off the radar last year after some financial/job/health issues. So I am determined to make this a better year and reach 75 books (and I promise not to add all the children's books I read at the first part of this year). :)

I have read about 15 books already this year so I will get them cataloged and entered on here this week. It will be a fun project. :)

1: Last Known Victim by Erica Spindler
2: How Do You Hug A Porcupine? (children's book)
3: Pretend (children's book)
4: Epossumondas (children's book)
5: Good Boy, Fergus! (children's book)
6: 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz

I've starred this thread, and am looking forward to your reads.

Why don't you want to list the children's books you read this year? They are books, right?

I like deep books, but I also enjoy escaping into books geared toward the younger set. :)

Hi damejennylynn--

I see you're a mystery fan. Have you found the May Murder & Mayhem thread yet?

Thanks for starring me. :) That made my day...who knew it was that easy. :)

streamsong: I have not looked at that thread. I will have to check it out. I read mostly murder mystery/thriller books. :)

fuzzi: I guess I can add the children's books that I have read. One of my best friends (and former co-worker) is the Children's coordinator at our local library. I am always reading books for her when she is choosing books for story time days. I love being a kid again and reading those fun books. :)

I love reading GOOD children's books, or youth books. I enjoy the stories and characters, without having to wade through violence and sex, which I really don't want to read about...

There are plenty of us who 1. love childrens books, and 2. post them as part of our challenges, and even more so, 3. like to read about ones that are good which we might miss otherwise. Do tell us what you are reading. My toddler buddies will thank you, right after I do.

Thanks, Maggie! I am working on getting my reviews written for the few I have already read this year. I hope to get them all posted before the end of the week. :)

I just discovered your thread and starred it. We share a love of mysteries. I read a variety of books but I always go to a mystery when I want to kick back and relax. I'm not familiar with most of your authors but I'm always looking for new ones. Happy reading!

I have you starred. Don't worry about posting children's books. I have a few on my list as well. Thanks for the tips lol. My little guy likes when I read to him.

I read a lot of mysteries, too, so I'll star your thread!

1: Last Known Victim

This is the first Erica Spindler book that I have read. I found it was a fast paced book. It was an easy read and the author continued the suspense throughout the book. There were quite a few character to keep track of and I have a feeling if I had read previous books that the characters would have meant more to me. Overall this book has me interested in more Erica Spindler books as quick and entertaining reads.

(Please note that this is not my most well written review. The first part of this year my reviews were lacking but they are getting better as the year is going along.)

2: How Do You Hug A Porcupine

This was a cute children's book. The end is kind of predictable but the lead up to the end is cute. I loved the illustrations throughout this book.

3: Pretend

This is another cute children's book. I love that the father sits and plays with his son and encourages him to use his imagination. It brought back fun memories as a child and using my imagination to entertain myself. I hope it ignites more children to use their imaginations.

4: Epossumondas

I found myself smiling throughout this children's book. You cannot help but feel better after reading this book. Even on a really bad day, this book could make you smile. I also enjoyed the illustrations within this book.

5: Good Boy, Fergus!

The illustrations make this story come to life. If you have ever had a dog, you will see some of your dog within the story. I was given this book to read shortly after our dog passed away and it reminded of all the fun, silly times we had with our dog. This is a fun book for young children.

6: 77 Shadow Street

I was initially intrigued with this book. I started reading and was sucked into the story line. But after a bit, I was disenchanted with the story. I found myself not caring if I finished the book. I continued to try to fight through it and finish the book. I did get it finished but I felt let down and I kind of regretted reading it. Dean Kootz has definitely written better books in the past and I hope he comes out with a better book in the near future.
