My name is Aidan and I'm a fantasy author from Ireland. I've had my YA fantasy novel, "The Zargothian Tales: Return of the Son of Hamorin" - www.thezargothiantales.com, published and it is the first book of a trilogy. I wrote it while recovering from a car accident and I'm currently working on book 2 of the series. You can actually read the entire first chapter of book 1 at: www.thezargothiantales.com/samplechapter.html
Here's a little bit about me: I'm 30, from County Kerry, Ireland and I've been writing since 2002. My journey as a writer began after I had a religious experience back in '02. Since then, I've been writing non-stop and from 2004 onwards, a number of my short stories and articles have appeared in many magazines and e-zines and some of my poetry has been featured in some international anthologies. My favourite authors are: William W. Johnstone, Tom Clancy and Francesca Brown. There are others but I really can't think of them now. lol. My favourite types of books to read are: fantasy, horror, espionage, autobiographical and most recently, mind/body/spirit books. I can't get enough of books on angels! When I'm not working on my trilogy, I also like to write songs and last year, I became a qualified Reiki practitioner. I hope to someday open up my own clinic or at least get some work as a Reiki practitioner and also to be able to be a full-time writer. For those of you interested in angel card readings, I also specialise in those too but you will have to PM (Private message) me about details on those. I don't want to break the rules of the group.
Thanks for your time in reading this post. I look forward to hearing from people on LT. Have a great evening.
Aidan: Welcome! Your life and spiritual journeys will certainly give you a foundation for your writing. Have you read Angelology, by Danielle Trussoni? I've got it on my list to be read.
I am actually an Episcopal clergywoman - a deacon. I'm finishing up sabbatical and then will be assigned to a vicarage two blocks from my home in Berkeley, California. I do a lot of social justice, pastoral care and liturgical ministry - and my area of speciality is church history, which I'll be teaching to our catechumens. The novels I write are historical fiction and contemporary literary fiction, the latest has a touch of fantasy.
I love Thomas Hardy, Dorothy Dunnett, Sharon Kay Penman, Ernest Hemingway, Jane Austen, Suzanne Collins, Elizabeth Chadwick, James Patterson, Charles Dickens.
Right now I'm reading Hilary Mantel's "Wolf Hall."
Thank you so much for your message. Yes, I did read some of "Angelology" and while Danielle is a great writer, I just could not get into her story. I read about 100 pages or so and just had to stop. That book wasn't for me, unfortunately.
Wow, you're a deacon? Cool. I am very much into spirituality, and love healing people using Reiki. lol. I also think though that in the second half of this year (and I'm not sure why), we will see an increase in people turning to spirituality and become more and more interested in angels. I love talking about angels and I'm currently working on a book about them.
