How often do your ER books just not come?

I got both of my wins, but one of them didn't come for three months. Which got me wondering how often do books never come or not come for a long time.

Over the years (since 2007!) I've won 38 books and 8 of them never came. I think it's a larger percentage than usual because I live at an FPO address, so even though the postage may not be more (if sent media mail), the publisher has to fill out a customs form, which some publishers are not willing to bother with.

The statistics on my page don't match this information because I've sometimes read the books that didn't come (library books, borrowed from friends, etc.) and they automatically get marked as received when I put them into my library.

I don't think I've ever had a book not eventually arrive of the 32 I've "won" over the past five years , although some have taken a very long time to get here (one took fourteen months to show up!).

 

All 22 of mine eventually arrived, although like JGoto's and BTRIPP's, some of them took a long time.

I've only had one book fail to arrive, How to profit from the coming rapture, a November 2008 offering. But as the rapture never came, I guess I wouldn't have profited in any case!

I've "won" 13 and 12 have arrived. The missing one is from the January 2012 batch.

Since 2007 I've won 30 books. 3 were never sent out by the publisher.

I've won 24 books since January, 2009, and all have arrived -- except one! No clue why that one didn't get here; others received it. One of the wins took about 6 weeks but the others have come quickly, within one month.

One no show. Generally they do turn up, just sometimes they take a much longer while.

I've been doing ER since 2008. I've won 28 books, and I've never not gotten a single one.

As for MG books, however, I've probably not gotten as many as I have received. And most of those I did get, I wish I never did. :}

I've received 24 ER books out of 25 that I won. Of those only one had to be re-sent; many took two months or more, especially a couple years ago. I've never won a MG book, and I think a lot of people including perhaps the OP conflate the two.

I've won 3 books in ER, 2 of which I received.

One publisher said (in effect) "Don't have enough copies, so please choose another of our catalog." I did, but this never arrived (nor did one that they told LT they would send)!

I have received all of the LTER books that I have won, and all but one came within a 60-day period. I've been really lucky.

I have requested and won only a few Member Giveaways but I've also received each one of those.

I have won 13 LTER books and 2 did not come. I still have hope for the one from March 2012, but the other one was from years ago.

I also have won 3 member giveaways offered by publishers, and one of those did not show up.

Since 2008, won 33, received 33. Some of those took 3 - 6 month to arrive, but most came within the 60 day period.

I don't request books from MG.

13 lorax - What indication is there that the OP is conflating MG and ER?

I've won 3 MG books and received them all, but I don't keep track of how long they take.

Nothing obvious, just a possibility based on the phrasing.

I have won 30 books since 2009. Three books have not arrived within the 60 day time frame. One was finally sent with a little LT prompting, and I wrote emails to the publishers of the other two. One has arrived and one has not. Both publishers were very kind and happy to look into the matter.

Since the first offering in October 2007 I have won 49 books. Amazingly I have received all of them even though one took a good nine months to get to me. Most come within a month or two of winning. I am one very lucky reader:)

Update: OK make that 50 books I've won now with my latest win from May!

I've been doing ER since it started and have won 45 books. Only 2 never arrived, and one of those was never published. (I just checked Amazon and they show a publication date of July 2012. Wonder if (a) it will finally publish and (b) if we'll still get an Early Reviewers copy? :-) )

I have won 27 and received 26. The one that didn't come, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, is probably the same one that dulcibelle mentions in #24 -because I looked at Amazon the other day too and saw that publication date. Would be great if it finally arrived, but after almost 4 years waiting, I'm not holding my breath.

I have been with ER/MG since 2008 and have won 32 (make it 33 this month) and only once did I not receive the book. What really bugged me was others got theirs, I just didn't get mine.
But then again, with all the wonderful books in the world did I really NEED the one that never came.

Let's see... Not counting this May batch ('cause even though it'd be cool it can't come at super speed... :)) I have won 5 books and gotten 4 of them. Of course... the one that I didn't get The Most Memorable Games in Patriots History has a good excuse for not coming yet, it was on the list last year, but doesn't come out until something like August of this year... :)

I've been doing ER since 2008 and won 22 including this month's win. Only one failed to arrive - Smoke gets in your eyes - mentioned above by tardis and dulcibelle. I hope the publisher is reminded of the list of ER winners. It would be wonderful to get it after all this time.

I've won 2 Member giveaways and they both arrived. One was ok, the other was very enjoyable.

One came very late but every ER book I won has arrived. The one member giveaway I applied for I won but it has never arrived.

Received eight books although one took over a year to arrive. Also received one book that was not on my list of wins.

The one ER book (not including May) I've gotten was an ebook and I got it with no problem. I've gotten one of the two I won for May (ebook again). Of the five MG books I've won, I've gotten all of them. I seem to win more ebooks than regular books.

18 wins, one had not shown up yet (March 2012) but Mulholland Books had delayed a book before (6+ months) and finally sent it so I had not given up on it yet.

Thank you everyone for all the answers. It's a lot easier looking at real numbers instead of just trying to guess from the unreceived books lists. As other things have been brought up paper vs. ebook, MG vs. ER. I thought I should give my numbers on those as well. I don't have an e-reader so I can't really add anything on that score. I have won five MG books and received all of them within a month of winning. So far I've actually liked them better then my ER wins. I just found out I won my third ER today after not winning anythng the last two monthes. The book that didn't show for three monthes was from the January batch. By the time it came I had already received, read, and reviewed my february book. Which made me wonder just how often that happened. Now I know it isn't that unusual. Please keep posting I'm not trying to kill the thread I just wanted to acknowledge everyone and tell you I have been reading your posts

I have won 28 books over the last few years--- my first book arrived 11 months after I won the book--- I was hoping they were not all going to take that long, and for the most part they have not been. However, I too won 'The Most Memorable Games In Patriots History' back in August and still have not received it.... Hang tight, they usually show up.... eventually! 2 outta 28 being late is not too bad :)

I've "won" 16 books since joining the ER program, but have actually received 14 of them. The two missing books were from May and June 2009 and were probably lost in the mail.

Lucky 13! That's how many I've won, and I've received 'em all.

Of the 28 books I've won, I haven't received 4, including one from New York Review Books, which kind of surprised me.

I usually receive my books pretty quickly. I've won 17 books and 3 never arrived. One of those I know will never ever ever arrive. Another one, other people received it months ago so it's very unlikely to show up. The third is a May book so there is still hope. Looks like no one has received it yet.

I have won over thirty books and have gotten all of them, other than the two current wins. (June and July). I think the longest that I have waited was close to 9 months.

In 11 months I have been chosen to receive ER books 9 times, of which I have received 7. I'm still waiting for my August 2011 book, Dogs of War! And my most recent, Meet At the Ark at Eight isn't late, as it's from the July batch.

8/6/12 Addendum: Meet At the Ark at Eight arrived today!

I won five books since Sept. 2009. Only one failed to show up: A Vast and Fiendish Plot (Nov. 2009).

Overall I have had good success with the Early Reviewers program. I have won 23 books since March 2009. So far one is a tad late in materializing - As Though She Were Sleeping from the May 2012 batch is still outstanding - and The Revisionists from the July 2011 batch never did show up.

So far, I won 11 books. 2 of them didn't show up.

I've won 48 and received them all. I had a couple that took a few months and one over half a year. Some as few a 4 days.

Not counting the August 2012 one, I've won 6, and received 5. Jasmine Nights from the May 2012 batch is still outstanding.

I've won 11 ER books and all have arrived within 60 days, as far as I remember.

I've also won 6 MG books and I have received them all - judging from this thread, that seems to make me luckier than most. I don't request as many MG books as I used to, so now I don't usually win any.
