Why does this work, http://www.librarything.com/work/12549136, have no author while each of the editions does? Should this be bugged?

#1 This should have an author. I've seen this before and just use the other author feature to set the primary author to match editions and cover photo.

#2 yes. The other author list gave it as no promary author, so I updated it.

Did you try "Recalculate title/author"?

No.

If the title or author that the system is using for the work doesn't look right compared to the editions, the "Recalculate title/author" link (on the right hand side of the work page in the Advanced box) will usually sort it out.

i wonder if the two near identical names with the same page were hard for the system to digest.

Yes, I tried recalculate title/author and it didn't help.

anyhow seems making the canonical authors name and the primary authors name identical has sorted it.

10 I went to add other authors and entered a primary author, which sorted it.

I went and replaced the previous primary author with a version that did not have a typo:^) he is A McD not Mcd, the editions were not in agreement so i checked other sources.
