"Who am I?" round 6
Hogwarts ExpressJoin LibraryThing to post. 7jugglingpaynesYes? Oh wait. I'm compski's evil twin. ETA: And I would never be anyone's brother. Cat just reminded me. :o) 8Renald128#7: If you want to be a brother, you can be a brother, don't let cat tell you otherwise! :P 12the_silent_readerWas there a pair of twins in the GONE series? I don't know if there is or not. It has been awhile since I read it, and I haven't read the whole series. 14the_silent_readerI didn't know/forgot he was twins with Caine. (Totally didn't just look that up :P) Clue #1 I want to stop the Apocalypse, 19the_silent_readerClue #4 I have the most luxurious, verdant, and beautiful houseplants in London. They are also the most terrified 20jugglingpaynesTerrified or terrifying? If the plants are terrifying, I would say they are Triffids, but I forgot the lead character's name. If the plants are terrified, I have no idea. 21MrAndrewPersonally, i find Triffids charming and snuggly. I for one welcome our ambulatory vegetative overlords. 22the_silent_readerterrified Clue #5 I am an Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards 24MrAndrewwell you should! But you will have to guess correctly first. Or just read thousands of random books until you discover it. >#22: Are you Aloysius, The Louche Seraphim? 25the_silent_readerNope Clue #6 I drive a 1926 black Bentley, one owner from new, and that owner had been me. 29ErisofDiscordAh! Crowley? Thank you internet search engine - I'm afraid I haven't read this book before. 30the_silent_readerYes that it! It's okay. Now it's your turn. Maybe something more people know. :P 34foggidawnHeh. My next guess was going to be The Little Prince, but somehow, I don't think that's right! 36ErisofDiscordNot the Little Prince - I think the killing a bunch of his people kinda knocks him off. ^_^ Clue #3: Once upon a time, I used a vegetable as a clothing decoration. 37ErisofDiscordNo takers? Okay, how about... Clue #4: I have a talent akin to Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman. 38foggidawnYep . . . I got nothin'. I mean, the vegetable thing reminds me of Luna, but she obviously doesn't fit the rest of the clues. (Unless there's a whole lot about Luna that JKR hasn't told us. I mean, it would explain a lot of things -- but I think she lacks the killer instinct, really.) 39ErisofDiscordHehe. I'm trying to be coy with my clues, but I see it's time to give it away with an awesomely revealing clue! :D Clue #5: I'm the Lord of Time. 41ErisofDiscordNope! Clue #6: Do I need to get out my timey wimey detector that goes ding when there's stuff in order to help you guess my identity? ;) 49ErisofDiscordOh, oh, oh, it's Sherlock! The first word we get out of him on "Sherlock" is a text to everyone saying the word, "Wrong!" 53jugglingpaynesThe Mad Hatter? (Or was it the March Hare that was killing time? I always confuse the two) 58ErisofDiscordOops, I just realized that I totally screwed up my last hint. I said "sister-in-law" when I meant "sister." Gosh, my brain is fantastic sometimes! 59ErisofDiscordClue #4: One might assume that a murderer's punishment is the death penalty or life imprisonment, but for me, the punishment was one that came from inside. My punishment was waking up every day and being fearful, delirious, paranoid, haunted and hunted, and I longed for relief as much as I tried to fight my pursuers. 62sugeOk now I'm thinking that guy from Crime and Punishment erm.... *googles* Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov??? (now there's a mouthful) 63ErisofDiscordThat's the one! Poor old Raskolnikov. So complicated. I don't know whether to hate him, love him, pity him, shout at him, or sympathize with him. Dostoevsky was brilliant. It's all yours now, Suge! 64sugeOh. Crap. Right. Give me a sec.... ... ... ... Got it! Ok, ok, ok! Clue #1: My dad built me a robot. "She's" my nanny, confidant and playmate. 65sugeClue #2: During the day my dad is a researcher, by night he works in his keypad protected lab at the back of the house on his more eccentric projects. These his company wouldn't necessarily want to fund. 67suge66--> Nope! But the robot has an uncanny resemblance to Rosie. Love Hanna-Barbera!! Clue #3--> Instead of mace, I carry a can of Day-Glo Silly String. EtA: Can't count so good. That was clue #3 not 2. Sorry! 68sugeClue #4--> My new best friend and I decide to start a group for "weirdos" Do you guys wanna give up? 69jugglingpaynesI think you just need to give us more time! It's been quiet here this weekend. The only weirdo I can think of is Gonzo, but unless Prof. Honeydew is his dad, I'm pretty sure that's wrong. :o) 70sugeMore time??? We've been at this for DAYS!! Ha ha ha! You're stumped!! YOU'RE ALL STUMPED!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! It's not Gonzo. Good try JP. Gonzo was my first crush. Here's another clue: My group and I are activists. Our Campaign for Calories Food Drive collected Twinkies at our school, that we shipped to modeling agencies to help models gain weight. 71ErisofDiscordStill no idea who your character is, but I just wanted to say that the Campaign for Calories Food Drives sounds BRILLIANT. 72jugglingpaynesWell that just makes me think it's you, suge! How come I didn't know you had a robot nanny? 73suge71--> Isn't it??!! This is a really cute book. I enjoyed it. 72--> Oh! Ok, you got me JP! It is me. Sigh. I wish! I wish I had a cool robot to do all the stuff I'm always putting off.. Answer my phone, Great people at the door . One of my favorite parts in the book was when people visited the main character for the first time and the robot who's name is really, really really happy and ecstatic greets them at the door. Some people have been known to scream a little. That was a freebie. 74jugglingpaynesSo, you piqued my interest, and because I'm impatient I tried to Google it. After looking up Campaign for Calories and getting various links to McDonald's (????) I think I found your book. Is it the one by Philip K. Dick? I'm going to have to find it! 75Jim53A friend of mine who is a librarian was telling me about something that sounds like this. "Queen Geeks" or some such thing. It sounded very funny but aimed at ten year olds if I remember her description. No idea of the character's name even if it is the right book. So this isn't really a guess, just a comment to maybe help someone else if they've seen this one and can finish it off. 76suge#74---> Not Philip K. Dick, though I should say that the "The Minority Report" is one of my favorite Sci-Fi stories so far and the movie is quite excellent. So under rated. Now my curiosity is piqued! McDonald's has a Campaign for Calories. Oh this I must Google! #75--> DING DING DING DING!! And the Twinkie goes to Jim! The book is indeed "The Queen Geek Social Club". I'm a little embarrassed. Do I really like stuff targeted at 10 year olds? SADLY, YES! Ok, Take it away, Jimmy!! (you see what I did there?? Johnny... Jimmy! Ha!) 77Jim53Sorry, all, I was travelling and didn't really mean that to be a guess. But I'll go ahead and think of someone. Trying to think who I know well enough... OK. Clue #1: my people worship the stars. 79Jim53Anyone there? Bueller? Anyone? Clue #3: my story is set in a thinly disguised Spain during the Reconquista. 80ErisofDiscordOh, dear, I really have no idea. If it's a classic, then I probably know of the book, but I haven't read it. And if it's a movie, I don't think I've watched it. Gah! You've good and stumped me, Jim! :D 81ErisofDiscordHold up, I got it! I went to your library, looked at your tags, found one with "Spain," and got a book called The Lions of Al-Rassan. And with a little help from Wikipedia, voila! Ammar ibn Khairan! 82Jim53Right, Eris. Lions is my favorite of Guy Kay's books, and Ammar is one of his most interesting characters. Over to you. 85ErisofDiscordBwahaha! The Master has some redeeming qualities. He is clinically insane, after all, and he did save the Doctor's life. Clue #2: I am very passionate about the woman I love. 87ErisofDiscordOy! Don't knock the Snape! ;) And nope it's not him. Clue #3: I tried digging up my ex-girlfriend after she was buried. 89ErisofDiscordNope! Clue #4: I have two homes, acquired by exacting my revenge on my family, my great love, everyone. 92sugeALL RIGHT!! Whoo hoo!! Clue #1--> I was named after a theory that caused great controversy during the 19th Century Regency Era. 95Jim53Must be Fanny Dashwood, named for the famous theory that "those dresses make my fanny look fat." 96sugeDing!! Ding!! Ding!! Ding!! You got it!! HA HA HA HA!! NICE TRY!! Regency fashion was pretty unflattering from the back, but that is NOT the answer! Clue #3--> My uncle eats only protein on Mondays, carbs on Tuesdays, dairy on Wednesday, fish on Thursday, Fruit on Friday, food supplements on Saturdays and liquidized herbs on Sunday. 97ErisofDiscordUm... Thursday Next, maybe? Or someone from that universe? I'm not sure. I've only read a few chapters of The Eyre Affair before I had to return it to the library. 98suge97--> Nope! Clue #4--> In the chance of a lifetime, I get to visit the one place in the whole wide world I've always wanted to visit. 99sugeI'm so sorry I've been gone so long. I've been REALLY busy. So here's the answer: I am 14 year old Symone Wates from The White Darkness an excellent book that takes place in Antarctica. Sym was named after John Cleves Symmes and his "Hollow Earth" theory. According to him the polar ice regions have entrances known as Symmes Holes that are portals into the interworlds inside the Earth. The man Sym is in love with is the explorer Captain Lawrence Grace Oats, better known as "Titus". This is a really great book and I would recommend it to anyone, not just for the wonderful tidbits and facts about the last place we haven't managed to completely ruin on Earth (the Outer Earth, that is, I hope that the innerworlders know a little better than we do), but also because it is so well written and compelling. 100the_silent_readerI checked that book out of the public library March of 2011, but never read it. I knew that summary sounded familar when I read it so I went back to check my own cateloging system. And there it was! 101sugeOh! I'm really sorry you didn't read it. I really enjoyed it, though I really wanted to slap some sense into Sym at times! 103sugeI know, I know! I'll post another clue no one will get!!! better than nothing. Here goes! Clue One: I hate it when my dad wears leatherette pants. 107sugeMr. A! Havent seen u in eons! how are u and donna doing? Ha ha ha I never watched friend but a coworker was raving about it at lunch today but I can't talk: I was raving about Doctor Who. Clue 2: My dream is to become a back up dancer and marry a mega rich international pop star, so what is le point of geoggers and blodge? 108jugglingpaynessuge, look up "friends ross leather pants" on YouTube. You won't be disappointed. If you prefer seeing the whole episode, it's Season 5, episode 11, "The One with All the Resolutions." Looked it all up, just for you. You're welcome. I must now find out what geoggers and blodge are. 111suge108--> ha ha ha I see what you did there! I'll look it up :} 109--> Ding Ding Ding!! and I didn't even have to pull out the midget gems!! (whatever they are) 110--> Good to hear! What answer? What? What are you talking about? What are you asking me? Huh? 112sugeOh and by the way, JP, blodge is biology and geoggers is geography. Don't even try to phathom it. Georgia is English. 'Nuff said. 114foggidawnWoohoo! . . . Oh, wait. That means I have to think of one. Clue #1: I have one sibling, a younger sister. 116foggidawnWow. I figured this would be an easy one, but I didn't expect it would be solved on the first guess! Yes, it's Katniss. Over to you, Eris! 120ErisofDiscordAh, bugger, I was hoping to drag it out for longer. ;) Right you are, Suge, and the next one is yours! 123jugglingpaynesA milk stool in a hurricane? ETA: I mean milking stool. Whatever it's called. The thing you sit on to milk the cow. 125sugeer nope nope and.... I've no idea who Patrick Maitland is... so no. Clue #2 I can generate a cloud of smoke that provides excellent cover for a quick gettaway. 128suge126---> Ha ha ha! Noooooooo! But I love DW! 127--> Noooooooope!! (heee heee heee!!!) My best buddy is fussy and extremely chatty. And chat he will, in over 60 billion ways! 129jugglingpaynesSo we're looking for a three-legged flying creature that can disappear in a puff of smoke with a fussy, talkative companion. That rules out Sherlock Holmes. It sounds like something from Discworld? Maybe? 130ErisofDiscordI am stumped. Whatever it is I don't think I know it. JP, we're all relying on you now! 131TidIs it R2D2 from Star Wars? (Was there a book? C3PO was certainly talkative and fussy! And didn't R2 have three legs?) 132ErisofDiscordOhhhhhhhhhhhh! Now that works, Tid. Wow, I think my head is so much in Wholand that I forgot about Star Wars! :O 133suge131---> DING DING DING DING!!! sorry it took so long to answer! I've had no electricity or water for the last three days. And now it comes on for 5 minutes and then, BAM!! Blackout again. ugh! 134Tid134 Ouch - I'm glad you're back with us, poor you. Do I continue in this thread? (Give me a day to formulate my clues, though I know "who"...) 136sugeyep! it's been hell. But how's this for perspective? I'm whining about a little electricity but in my city there are thousands whose homes are COMPLETELY under water. You can't even see the roofs. 137Tid136 Yes, our thoughts are with you all. New York sure gets more than its fair share of disaster. They just said on the news that the storm is the size of EUROPE. Ye gods. 138TidClue 1: I published a picture without any idea of the consequences of doing so. Clue 2: I get sucked into a surreal search, that may involve a plot for world domination. 140ErisofDiscordOh, dear, I have no idea. Erm, Irene Adler? But she didn't publish a picture. Bugger it all. Anyone else? 142TidIf there are no more guesses I will give a third clue, which will give it away immediately to anyone who knows the book :-) 143TidOk, I thought this one would be easier. Here then, is the giveaway clue : Clue 1: I published a picture without any idea of the consequences of doing so. Clue 2: I get sucked into a surreal search, that may involve a plot for world domination. Clue 3: My girlfriend has to keep her ears covered, they are so erotically beautiful. 144TidOh dear. No guesses, none at all? You sure know how to make a girl feel like a failure! Ok, here's the 4th. Clue 1: I published a picture without any idea of the consequences of doing so. Clue 2: I get sucked into a surreal search, that may involve a plot for world domination. Clue 3: My girlfriend has to keep her ears covered, they are so erotically beautiful. Clue 4: I live and work in Japan, where all the events are set. 145sugenow I'm thinking of the movie Shutter. No IDEA what the answer is. Hats off, Tid! You've stumped us all! 146TidOk, another clue - SOMEONE must have read this, surely? Clue 1: I published a picture without any idea of the consequences of doing so. Clue 2: I get sucked into a surreal search, that may involve a plot for world domination. Clue 3: My girlfriend has to keep her ears covered, they are so erotically beautiful. Clue 4: I live and work in Japan, where all the events are set. Clue 5: The picture was a pastoral scene of sheep - including one particular sheep.. 147TidTwo more clues, then if you want to move on to someone else, let me know and I'll reveal all. Clue 6: My best friend is a Rat, but he seems to have disappeared. 148TidFinal clue: Clue 7: I am the hero of a novel by a Japanese novelist known for his quite surreal plots, told in an eloquent but everyday way : "See what I mean?" she said. She'd become so beautiful, it defied understanding. Never had I feasted my eyes on such beauty. Beauty of a variety I'd never imagined existed. As expansive as the entire universe, yet as dense as a glacier. Unabashedly excessive, yet at the same time pared down to an essence. It transcended all concepts within the boundaries of my awareness. She was at one with her ears, gliding down the oblique face of time like a protean beam of light. "You're extraordinary," I said, after catching my breath. "I know," she said. "These are my ears in their unblocked state." Several of the other customers were now turned our way, staring agape at her. The waiter who came over with more expresso couldn't pour properly. Not a soul uttered a word. Only the reels of the tape deck kept slowly spinning. If there are no (more) guesses, I will have to give this one up! (Just the author and the title of the book will be enough..) 150ErisofDiscordOkay, I found the book thanks to the Internet - A Wild Sheep Chase, by Haruki Murakami. Am I right in saying that your character is unnamed? That's probably not the right answer. 151Tid150 DING! DING! DING! DING! Phew, thank God someone got it - I was getting desperate. (It's all the more surprising as it was this site that got me interested in Murakami in the first place). Over to you Eris. 152ErisofDiscordWonderful! Sorry it took us ages, Tid. You really stumped us good. :) Okay, I'm going to try and make this one not Doctor Who related. Clue #1: I have a special spot that I must always sit on. Nobody may sit in my special spot. 155ErisofDiscordOh for crying out loud! Will I never get people to guess who my character is beyond the first clue? I am so easy. You are correct, Ron. Sheldon Cooper it is. :) 158Renald128#157: LOL! I think that's something we readers think...not her parents... Clue #1: My parents think I have some psychological issues. Clue #2: My grandfather told me some cryptic words before I watched him die. 159ErisofDiscordOh, oh, oh, I think I know! Is it Jacob from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? 161ErisofDiscordYay, I got that right! :D Now to make clues for a character who will probably be guessed by the first clue. Clue #1: My parents are dead. 171rolandperkinsClue 1: I am not an orphan, but my son* is treated as one; In fact, Iʻm the son of a judge, who recognizes my respectable brother Will but not "unrespectable" me. *a famous literary character in his own right. 173rolandperkins". . .from DIckensʻs Bleak House ? No. It has a setting in the Victorian era, but not a British location. 174rolandperkinsClue 2: My sonʻs mother (weʻre not officially married) is dead and is found floating down the Mississippi River*just at the start of the novel. But as the book isnʻt in linear chronological order, she does appear in some episodes of the book. *The setting is variously on the Missouri side and the Illinois side of the River. 176rolandperkinsRight, Jim!-- title character of Finn by Jon Clinch (Reading it now, and so far, his first name, just as in Huckleberry Finn. hasn't been revealed. I'm assuming "Pap" is a nick name. Please take over. 179Jim53nope. clue #1: my white skin makes me stand out on the island where I live. clue #2: I was rescued/abducted from my home by a powerful mage. 180Jim53clue #1: my white skin makes me stand out on the island where I live. clue #2: I was rescued/abducted from my home by a powerful mage. clue #3: I have an adopted daughter who is also the daughter of a dragon. 181rolandperkinsHave a feeling I wonʻt get this one: The last book I read that had a dragon in the title -- or anywhere in it --was published in 1988! (And the "dragon" was strictly metaphorical.) 183Jim53Lots of dragons in these, Polly, and lots of interesting humans too. It's a classic (IMHO) fantasy series by one of my favorite authors. clue #1: my white skin makes me stand out on the island where I live. clue #2: I was rescued/abducted from my home by a powerful mage. clue #3: I have an adopted daughter who is also the daughter of a dragon. clue #4: before my rescue, I was a reborn priestess. 184jugglingpaynesI know who it is, except her name (been a long time since I read that series). My memory is not what it should be lately. :oP 185TidI vaguely remember Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider series, but I'm not sure if I ever read one, or if this is it. 186Jim53Suffice it to say that McCaffrey is not one of my favorites. This character is not from Pern. clue #1: my white skin makes me stand out on the island where I live. clue #2: I was rescued/abducted from my home by a powerful mage. clue #3: I have an adopted daughter who is also the daughter of a dragon. clue #4: before my rescue, I was a reborn priestess. clue #5: I helped reunite the broken halves of the ring of peace. 187TidThis isn't something from Earthsea is it? (Ursula K LeGuin) It's a long time since I read them though. 191Jim53Ged was the mage. This person is not. Book 5, as I recall, was a collection of short stories set in Earthsea. Book 6 is one of the best-written fantasy novels I've ever read. clue #1: my white skin makes me stand out on the island where I live. clue #2: I was rescued/abducted from my home by a powerful mage. clue #3: I have an adopted daughter who is also the daughter of a dragon. clue #4: before my rescue, I was a reborn priestess. clue #5: I helped reunite the broken halves of the ring of peace. clue #6: Jim can't think of any more. Between the clues and the conversation, anyone who remembers this character will recognize her. 192TidI fear the only way (for me) to do that is to Google, and that would break the spirit of this game! 193Jim53Looks as if nobody is going to get this character. Her name is Tenar, and as noted above she is one of the main characters in Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea fantasies. Someone else please start a new one. 194ErisofDiscordYou stumped us real good! :) JP, how about you get the next one? I would love to see what you come up with. 195jugglingpaynesI thought her name started with an A. I guess I was thinking Tombs of Atuan. :oP Clue #1: My brother and I had a traumatic experience when we were little. 203ErisofDiscordNope! Clue #3: I have a very rocky relationship with my mother, although my father and I get along splendidly. 209foggidawnOh, now I have to think of one. Clue #1: I was engaged once, but the other party broke it off. 211foggidawnNope. Clue #2: My only sister is dead. She had one child -- a son -- but I am not particularly close to him. 214rolandperkinsI donʻt think she was exactly "an employer", but as I remember it, she did have some kind of a financial hold, and she sure was unsympathetic: Miss Haverhsam in Great Expectations? 218foggidawn#215 -- Correct! (My next hint would have been something about being plagued by seasonal ghosts, or something like that, to give it completely away.) Take it away, Tid! 219TidWow, I only guessed on the basis of Clue 3! Clue 2 sort of rang vague bells, but I'd never realised Scrooge was once engaged - so that's where his bitter and twisted nature came from! Ok, here we go. Clue 1: I am employed in a fast-food restaurant. 223TidClue 1: I am employed in a fast-food restaurant. Clue 2: Drugs keep me and my co-workers happy. Clue 3: After a fixed number of years' service, we are promised retirement on a paradise island. 224TidClue 1: I am employed in a fast-food restaurant. Clue 2: Drugs keep me and my co-workers happy. Clue 3: After a fixed number of years' service, we are promised retirement on a paradise island. Clue 4: Like my co-workers, I am a clone. 225TidClue 1: I am employed in a fast-food restaurant. Clue 2: Drugs keep me and my co-workers happy. Clue 3: After a fixed number of years' service, we are promised retirement on a paradise island. Clue 4: Like my co-workers, I am a clone. Clue 5: My story is set in a Korea of the future 227TidNo! This was a recent(ish) award winning novel that has had lots of reviews in LT. I thought the clone clue would give it away, but perhaps the next one will... Clue 1: I am employed in a fast-food restaurant. Clue 2: Drugs keep me and my co-workers happy. Clue 3: After a fixed number of years' service, we are promised retirement on a paradise island. Clue 4: Like my co-workers, I am a clone. Clue 5: My story is set in a Korea of the future Clue 6: My story is fifth of six very loosely-linked stories that span from the early 19th Century to a far-flung dystopian future. 228Jim53Sounds like David Mitchell, but I don't remember the character's name, which I think included a number. 229Tid228 You're about there Jim - do Google the precise name if you want, or just give me the name of the novel :-) 230Jim53I'm hosting Crambo and Hangman right now, so I won't add a third game. Hoping my hint will help someone else get it. 232Jim53Only if you have your topic list set to Groups and posts, I think. Anyway, please come join the party! 245ErisofDiscordNope to both. Clue #4: I was on a quest to find something that was stolen from my people. 254ErisofDiscordSorry for the late respone, everyone! The 75 group has taken over my Your Posts and Your Groups section of my feed, so I keep forgetting that I have responsibilities here! #249 - Nope! #253 - I think we can. He has been universally appreciated by the womenkind here, but I think I'll float out another clue. Clue #6 - I am fairly short. Also, Sherlock stole my gold! 255donnaoThorin Oakenshield. But I'm afraid I don't find him so hot. Sorry. I prefer Aidan Turner (Kili). 265MrAndrewYes! It's you! But no. Say, i know someone in England... perhaps you've met? It's a small island. Clue 2: I'm not Tid Clue 3: My mentor has a serious mancrush on me, but rivalry spoils it. 267MrAndrewThanks. You want vague & obscure, i'm your man. I was going to go with "I have two legs", but i didn't want to eliminate characters from Animal Farm and Watership Down too early. Although in hindsight i did eliminate Charlotte's Web ... oh well. No, not Watson. Clue 1: I'm English Clue 2: I'm not Tid Clue 3: My mentor has a serious mancrush on me, but rivalry spoils it. Clue 4: I have two legs. Clue 5: I dabble in madness, a little too successfully. 270MrAndrewNope and Nope. Clue 6: I am referred to by my full name in the novel's title, wheas my mentor is more formally addressed (i.e honorific and last name only). But I get top billing. 273MrAndrewding ding ding Jim! Well done. You didn't even need Clue 7: My first name starts with a "J" and sounds like "gonathan". Your turn! 276Jim53nope. 1. I am a queen. 2. I was barred form the home prepared for my people because of a prideful act. 277Jim53new clue: 1. I am a queen. 2. I was barred from the home prepared for my people because of a prideful act. 3. I wield one of three powerful, hidden artifacts. 279Jim53good thought but no. random wondering: did we ever see the white witch's name? I don't recall it. 1. I am a queen. 2. I was barred from the home prepared for my people because of a prideful act. 3. I wield one of three powerful, hidden artifacts. 4. My granddaughter marries a king. Before that, he stops by for a visit with some of his friends. 280foggidawnThe White Witch was Jadis -- chronologically, she first appears in The Magician's Nephew, so we get her name there, and I think it's also mentioned in a letter in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. On the other hand, I believe the character Jim is thinking of is Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien.
