I apologise if this is the wrong place to raise this. But I couldn't find an answer elsewhere or where to ask this.
I am trying to add a book to my library that a LibraryThing user has already added to the database. It is Moss Farm by Van Reid ISBN 9781467503822
A search within LibraryThing brings it up fine. But then if I try to add it, the "Add search" will not bring it up as an option to add. It is newly published by a private press and so is not in Amazon.com, Library of Congress, or probably any of the many libraries one could choose to search. So it will not let me add it. I hesitate to add it manually as that would presumably just put a duplicate entry for this book in the LibraryThing database?
Is there an obvious solution I am missing?
You'll probably need to add it manually (looks like that's what the other person did). If it creates a duplicate entry (it shouldn't), they can be very easily combined.
You'll need to add it manually. LT knows to automatically combine books based on their names/authors/ISBNs, so no duplicate entry will be created.
It's an often-requested feature to add books to your catalog using someone else's data. But so far Tim has been reluctant to do so, citing data quality concerns. It's unfortunate, but there it is.
