Starting this early for the folks across the pond and down under.
My sister and her hubby were supposed to come for the weekend but they both have colds so they are staying home. I will be doing laundry, reading, gardening (stuff is getting big enough to eat!) and cleaning. I really know how to whoop it up...
What will you be doing?
More homework. However, I think I might be able to be done early enough that I can actually so something other than homework for a change. Lawn really needs to be mowed, lawn mower needs to be fixed first. Wood rack is almost complete. garage door opener needs installing. Kiln needs to be emptied and reloaded. Wife needs some Quality Time...
Hubby has tomorrow off so we're visiting a spirits distiller (the only one in Massachusetts) and then going to his sister's for dinner. After that I'm not sure. Probably, given the prevailing temps, not much else.
We'll be at early voting on Saturday, 6am to about 4pm. Sunday we rest to do it again on Monday. I doubt I'll have much energy to do more than relax and read on days off.
My mother came home from the rehab unit today so I'll spend the weekend trying to get her settled at home again. I go back to work Monday; I do want to have some fun this weekend since I go back to work Monday. My brother is sitting with my mom Sunday so that I can go snorkeling. Well, he's supposed to sit with my mom. :)
I also have two books I want to finish.
Long weekend! 3 days for everyone else, 16 for me because I'm starting another two weeks of vacation.
Saturday/Sunday/Monday will be occupied in dodging mosquitoes (they're at plague levels), cleaning out the basement so there's a place for Northernstar to stay when she comes for the Folk Festival next weekend, digging the remains of the Nanking cherries out of the back garden and then repairing the gaping holes left behind, and likely other strenuous things.
And reading, of course.
I'll be recuperating from my first week at a new job, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom and doing some laundry, then church on Sunday
Overtime shift @ work tomorrow, then maybe a photoshoot @ The Cat Corner on sunday...
I'm going to the markets tonight, but other than that, I think I'm going to try to take it easy. I do have to finish a presentation for next week and some class preparation as well. And I should clean the house. But that's not going to take the *whole* weekend.
I hope as little as I can get away with. Life has been too hectic by far, recently. I need a sit and do nothing (except read) weekend! Sigh
Oh well. If weather permits I'm taking to the woods - the blueberries are ripe and I want to stock the freezer. Perhaps I'll find some mushrooms, but that will be a bonus.
Also, there's some more windows to clean... ;-)
I'll be working on the house and yard, and getting ready to leave to stay with tardis for the folk music fesitval next week. I divided and repotted some orchids today and picked more saskatoon berries. Need to strip and paint some furniture and closet doors, and will try to get that done before I leave.
#3 - what sort of spirits? Sounds fun.
Caving for me. A shortish trip on saturday. Sunday will be

hey reading_fox - they make a rye whiskey, gin, vodka and rum. Very small batch. Should be interesting.
Caving?! Wow. That sounds fascinating. I've only been in caves as a tourist and I loved it.
Hard work/exercise but yes it is fun. My trips tend to be about 5-7 hours, and you can end up with muscles aching that you didn't know existed! But being able to duck under the tourest rope and go on into the bits that 'normal' people aren't allowed to go (or are aware of) is always pleasing. As is knowing that you're one of very few people who ever seen that view (or crawled in that mud).
Depending on where you're based there is probably a local (ish) club who are always looking for new members. They are usually very welcoming to beginners, will have equipment to borrow and provide training/easy trips to get started.
My plans are to get over my second cold in one month. I had not had one in well over a year. Now two in one month!
I should be able to have a lazy morning tomorrow, then am going to a barbecue with my Ramblers' group. We'll camp overnight and come home Sunday. Still trying to rest my leg and not overdo it, which sounds like a good excuse to read!
#18 - You sure its not allergies? Feel better and mend quickly, PeaBee. :o/
Most of the weekend will be spent on two papers that I need to pretty much finish before leaving for Helsinki on friday.
Tomorrow Naja will visit me for a couple of hours. Naja is a girl that I am an adult friend for. She is very sweet. She called me yesterday. She doesn't speak that much Danish and I doesn't speak that much Greenlandic, so it was a funny conversation.
Sunday I am going to a kaffemik, a birthday celebration for min godson
I will be taking my mom to a local quilt show. I'm thinking Sunday I will rest and read. I just got home from a week of working for the department of education and I need a nice restful day.
(6)The mosquitoes are also bad here...they ambush us as soon as we go outside: I've even seen them hovering outside the door, honest!
My house is in need of a thorough cleaning and organization, so after I finish doing the shelter's laundry, and mine, I'll tackle the kitchen. I've already put suds and bleach in the bathtub and cleanser in the toilet (I'm a big fan of soaking!), emptied the bed and bathrooms' waste baskets, cleaned the cat boxes and filled the bird feeders with seed, whew!
But while the washer is in rinse mode and all is quiet, I'm going to visit with y'all, coffee at hand...
Addendum for JPB: feel better, soon.
Adjourning to Panera for the afternoon while spouse goes and works on a stage set for the production he's helping to direct. I'll be studying/reading while sipping hazelnut coffee.
Maybe I'll even think a bit about re-engineering my life. Routines need to be shattered and new challenges/interests need to be uncovered.
Add to weekend chores: deal with the accumulated garbage, recycling, and yard waste which piled up while drivers were on strike. Some what unannounced I hear the trucks in the neighborhood early Saturday morning, so, I run out in my bathrobe to pull the bins to the curb. Mine, and my next door neighbors. They have two little kids and they are so busy I am sure they are still asleep. Also, after the recycling guy comes and empties our bins, I'm inside and it occurs to me to call my Niece, who I know is still in bed! She is also a Wednesday pick up house, and so she'll need to get hers to the curb, too.
Sigh. That is what I did rather than go back to bed for extra sleeping.
The biggest highlight of my weekend by far was getting up at 1:15 this morning to watch the coverage of Curiosity landing on Mars. (I know technically it wasn't the weekend here on the East Coast anymore, but I'm counting it anyway.)
