You swing open a crystal door and enter a huge room with walls and floors of crystal. The teacher's desk in front and the students' desks are all made out of a beautiful sapphire. The tall glass windows are covered by a translucent royal blue curtain that glittered when it caught the light. In contrast to the usual blackboard, there is a white board at the front of the class that could be interacted with using a wand. There is a big wooden cupboard in the corner behind the teacher's desk. Hanging above is a sparkling crystal chandelier.
Welcome to my class, everyone! If you would like to join, please send me a message and make it private. Here are the list of students so far!
LIST OF STUDENTS
Here is the list of what we have covered so far...
WHAT WE COVERED
And the rules for my class!
1. Be polite and nice. If not, I'll take away points.
2. No casting spells or bringing in magical creatures without my permission. I'll take away points depending on how dangerous the spell or creature is.
3. I have the right to take away or give points as the Headmistress or I see fit.
Will add more later!
Well, I hope all of you enjoy your time in my class! :D
You approach the crystal door to find a wreath on the door. You enter the classroom and discover it's been decorated for the month of Christmas. Various plants including holly and mistletoe are attached to the ceilings and walls. There is a big Christmas tree in the corner, decorated beautifully with blue and silver ornaments and a shining crystal star at the top. Bells and other decorations also adorned the classroom. The effect was elaborate yet gorgeous.
Hm...well, I haven't planned anything specific but I can tell you that we'll definitely be covering Patronuses, werewolves, vampires, Inferi...those kind of things.
OK, then. Betty, you were supposed to send me a private message to join, but I'll let it slide this time. :)
OK, now that we have enough students, we can start!
(That does not mean I'm not accepting any more students. The class is always open to others!)
(Hopefully I can keep this one active...*smiles ruefully*)
(I'll probably follow most of what Professor Lupin taught, since it seems like he taught the most.)
I'm sorry. Still new to LT somewhat. Is this a private message or do I go to your home page to leave one?
You were supposed to go here:
And then leave a comment there, checking the box 'make private'. But no worries, I added you to the list already. Anyway, good to teach you first, because other Professors might ask to leave a private comment to join. Besides, for assignments, you would have to send a private comment anyway. ^_^
How do you know you are facing a Boggart and not the real thing, whatever it is? In the real world, I mean, not in controlled classroom conditions? You might think you are confronted by a real dementor, for instance.
That was unclear to me too, but after I figure it out, I think I am ready for the assignment!i have been studying!
It has been a few days!
OK, I deleted the lesson. Now, your assignment. Please send it back to me in a private comment!
1. What is a Boggart?
2. What charm combats a Boggart?
3. What does the charm require?
4. What is the correct way to perform the charm?
5. Which places are Boggarts particularly fond of inhabiting?
Beatles, whoops, I'm so sorry, have you copied down the lesson yet?
How long do we have to complete the assignment? Are points taken away if it isnt turned in?
Professor, I must've entered Class late because I wasn't even at my desk yet. I never saw your assignment.
OK, then, you and Danielle don't need to do the assignment. Oh, yes, forgot to mention: Deadline for the assignment is one week from yesterday.
10 points to Hufflepuff (Silent)
10 points to Gryffindor (katagirl)
10 points to Ravenclaw (Betty)
Oh, right, sorry, Catreona. Like I said in the lesson, a Boggart is weaker than the thing it transforms into. So for example, if it transforms into a Dementor, you might feel less hope, but you probably won't be drained of all hope.
Hmm...not yet, katagirl. There are still people who haven't sent in their assignment yet and the deadline is on 21th August in my time zone. They'll lose points if they don't hand it in on time.
8 points to Gryffindor (Catreona)
Yeah, if you pass up after half a week, you get slightly less points than those who passed it up during the first half of the week.
Hi Professor! I've been a busy little snake, but I hope to get your assignment done tomorrow. Sorry for delaying for so long!
Anyway, assignment deadline is over. So let's see...
10 points from Ravenclaw (zebrapants)
Lily, how about 1 week 4 us to read this, and then u cam continue with the lesson! Thanks!
Gah, I forgot!!! You know the song 'Forget You' by Cee Lo Green? In real life, I just sang it like this, "Forgetful, and forgetful~" Lolz.
Anyway, the questions! :D
1. Describe the Kappa's appearance.
2. What is the source of the Kappa's strength?
3. Where do Kappas live?
4. How can a person confronted with a Kappa protect him/herself?
5. What/How will the Kappa do/react if a cucumber inscribed with a person's name is thrown at it?
That's it! :) Deadline is next week! 2 points for each question you get right, so 10 points if you hand in a perfect assignment! 10 points will be taken away if you don't hand it in on time! Please hand it in by posting a private comment on my page. Good luck! ;)
OK, katagirl(Gryffindor) just sent her assignment to me, so that's 10 points to Gryffindor! :D Also, I'll give an additional 2 points for being the first...The points have already been added. ;)
OK, everyone, oline just joined our class. To welcome her, I am giving away free chocolates and sweets!
*throws an assortment of sweets and chocolates from Honeydukes into the air*
Silent just passed in the assignment and the answers are all correct, so 10 points to Hufflepuff! :D I'll go add them. :) Oh yeah, don't forget the deadline is 5th December! Oh, and Happy December, everyone! ;)
Beatles passed in the assignment and the answers are all correct, so another 10 points to Hufflepuff! :D
Oh, look, the deadline is tomorrow! (Unless I'm mistaken) Everyone, hurry up, OK? ;)
Oh, right...The deadline was yesterday!
*blows whistles* Time's up! Now let me check the student list...
20 points from Ravenclaw (zebrapants) (Betty)
20 points from Slytherin (Eris) (Danielle)
20 points from Gryffindor (Catreona) (Flan)
Wow...BTW, Catreona(Gryffindor) and Danielle(Slytherin) haven't been added to their house list yet. And I'll go subtract the points now. :(
I am sorry. Schoolwork and life have been throttling me by the neck, and I've been finding it hard to keep up with my internet life. I come on to LT for a bit and then I have to run off. Mea culpa. :(
OK. But please hand it in next time! :)
Anyway, I'll probably give you all the next lesson sometime this weekend. ^_^
One last thing! Silent, Kate, Beatles, here. :D Please choose five of these choices:
And mind you share them with your friends! ;)
I'll take a cauldron Cake with Caramel filling, a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, a Deluxe Sugar Quill, 5 Chocolate Frogs, and a box of exploding bonbons.
The last item I'm sure to share with them!
Hey, everyone! Check out the Christmas entry in the first post! :D
I'll take the following:
A box of Wizochoc
A bottle of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans
A Cauldron Cake with Peanut Butter
A box of exploding Bonbon's
A box of Drooble's Best Blowing Gum
And I'll leave everything in the Hufflepuff Common Room.
OK, we'll take a break from Magical Creatures for now! Here's the new lesson! *taps the whiteboard twice*
Lesson 3, Defense Against the Dark Arts
The Disarming Charm is a defensive charm which forced the victim to release whatever they were holding at the time, usually against his or her will. It is common to see this spell used in duels, to make an opponent release their wand.
The incantation for the Disarming Charm is, "Expelliarmus," with the hand movement of pointing one's wand at the target.
It is not known precisely who created the Disarming Charm, though it is known that it was not very popular until 1379, when Elizabeth Smudgling - the most likely inventor in the opinion of Miranda Goshawk - used it in a duelling contest in Dartmoor.
The Disarming Charm always appears as a jet of red light; indeed, this is one of the things that makes it recognisable before the effects of the charm are seen.
The Disarming Charm causes whatever an opponent is holding at the time - usually a wand - to fly high out of their reach; however, more enthusiastic casts can result in the victim of the charm being knocked unconscious in a similar manner to the Stunning Spell. If done too weakly, however, it will merely blow them back a few paces, or make their hair stand on end.
This information was taken from Harry Potter Wiki.
I'll delete the lesson and give the questions in one week!
Hm, I don't know whether anyone saw this or not...So I'll give everyone 1 more week! Please post here when you've seen the lesson! :D
