The time periods coincide. The geography coincides. And at least two authors have done novels on the subject, 2 by Saberhagen one by Estleman. Have there been any movies combining the two classic characters? I'm con-currently reading both authors and working out a reconciliation of the two accounts in the grand Baker Street Irregulars and Phillip Jose Farmer tradition.

Can you give the titles of these books?

Loren Estleman: Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula..part of the Further Adventures line by Titan, original release may have been titled The Adventure of the Sanguinary Count.

Fred Saberhagen: (famous sf author of Berserker Series) The Holmes Dracula Files, and Seance for a Vampire...these were both part of his Dracula series. The latter is also in rerelease from the Further Adventures novels release by Titan.

Titan has done reissues of 20 Holmes novels so far with no end in sight. They are also putting the entire Fu Manchu series back into print, good reading for any Holmesian.

I've read Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula, it wasn't bad. I have the other two stashed away but currently H. P. Lovecraft is itaking up most of my time.

i actually think Estleman's 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Holmes' is a better book, although neither of them rate terribly high on my pastiche list. not bad, but not great.

and yes, the original title was 'Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula: The Adventure of the Sanguinary Count'.

cosicdolphin..enjoy Lovecraft, one of the very finest writers of the pulp era, and when you need a break from Lovecraft, read Shadows Over Baker Street, a collection of Doyle/Lovecraft crossover stories.

Fun book, every author takes a different approach, includes a Study in Emerald, which won the Hugo award. By the way, strangely enough, this anthology was authorized by the Doyle estate, which means you can think of the one (s) you like best as canonical!
