I like to read and I love graphics….. this is my second year with LT 75 challenge and my first ever second thread! WOOT WOOT

I have decided to split up my new comic book/graphic novel addiction and my 75 reading list…. They will be separated into two posts on this thread…. that way I can see how many books I am actually reading…

Summer vacation is coming up soon so I will hopefully be able to read a lot more than I do during the school year…. Happy reading to everyone!

So my computer went crazy on me again.... and I can't get on the internet on it any longer... everytime I try it shuts itself down.... so it's back to the library... :( until I can get it fixed again.... so I probably won't be on very often.... no, no, it's okay.... you all will be fine without me.... please don't cry.... how about I do a little review of the last book I read?.... does that help make things better?.... great!

Title: Through the Ever Night
Author: Veronica Rossi
Date Finished: 5/20/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia
Notes: Sequel to Under the Never Sky
Opinion: I think the sequel is pretty good.... and continues the story... helps answer some of the questions you were left with in the first story.... and the characters get a little more development... the love between the two main characters still seemed a little sudden... and now I have to wait for Into the Still Blue to come out to complete the story and find out what happens.... I think this is a pretty good trilogy so far and I'm interested to see how things turn out....

Title: Prodigy
Author: Marie Lu
Date Finished: 5/25/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia
Notes: Sequel to Legend
Opinion: Loved it!.... I enjoyed the love connection between the two main characters and the love triangle the each found themselves in the middle of... there relationship is very believable!.... also the story of how the United States became spilt into The Republic and The Colonies is given which helps the story to make more sense then the first novel (a little bit of background info).... overall it was a fantastic read and I really enjoyed it.... but there had better be a third to this series as I am not happy with how the second book ended.... it can't end like that I will be too sad!

Title: Christmas Gifts From the Kitchen
Author: GeorgeAnne Brennan
Date Finished: 5/??/13
Genre: Hobbies/Cookbooks
Notes: Looking for ideas for the holidays this summer... also not sure when I finished this book this month but I had to return it to the library today
Opinion: This book was not what I was hoping for... I was looking for item that could be placed in a nice jar and given away for Christmas.... but these were more holiday recipes that you cook and then give away.... I CAN NOT BAKE.... therefore this was not the book I was looking for... they say don't judge a book by the cover.... which I usually do anyway.... and this book had a picture that looked like what I wanted on the cover.... but it wasn't what I wanted.. oh well.... it did have several great recipes.... if I ever learn how to bake they might just be good! LOL

Title: Handy Dad
Author: Todd Davis
Date Finished: 5/??/13
Genre: Hobbies/construction
Notes: looking for knew hobbies
Opinion: This book had a lot of great ideas of fun things to make for your kids to enjoy in the comfort of their backyard... but for me who likes things that are simple to make and fast it was like looking at instructions for computer programming.... A few of the ideas were simple enough.... but others were just to complicated for me.... now my husband on the other hand.... perfect for him... and he loved many of the ideas in the book as well!

So my computer is still down.... my last day of work is May 31.... and I don't know what I will do without my computer... guess I'll spend all my time at the library....

On a happy note.... I was at the library last month and the children's librarian told me they were hiring at one of the local branches but the deadline to apply was the next day.... I hurried up and put in my application but didn't hear anything back until..... WED! woot woot.... I have an interview set up for the 30th.... I'm so excited... and to top it off it is for a library in my area that was just rebuilt from the ground up.... the new one hasn't even opened yet!.... I so hope I get it.... it is part time and I hope that I will be able to work it with my regular full-time job in the fall

Good luck with the interview!

This weekend's reading....

Grimm Fairy Tales:
Myths and Legends Vol 3-5
Robyn Hood: Wanted Issue #1
Vampires the Eternal Issue #2
Werewolves: The Hunger Issue #1
Hunters: The Shadowlands #1
Neverland Issue 1-5

Issues 13-20

The Dream Merchant Issue #1

Damsels Issue #1

Damels: Mermaids Issue #1

May 28, 2013, 6:55pm Top

Thanks for the well wishes.... two more days until the interview... and I'm so excited! But the computer still has issues... and I can't afford an external hard drive right now to save all my stuff and then re-install the operating system... I guess I could take it to the Geek Squad.... but I can't afford to pay them either.... so.... that stinks.... maybe I can bum some money from my momma.... Happy reading....

speaking of reading... since I don't have the time to scan through everyone's threads... stop by and let me know what you are reading and how things are going.... I miss everyone's threads :(

I am currently reading Blood Red Road... so far it has taken me a little while to get used to the writing style but I haven't given up yet... I think the story is okay... but I do hope it picks up soon.....

I'm trying to finish A Thousand Splendid Suns and Olive Kitteridge before the week is out. I just got A Monster Calls, the audio of The Night Circus, and 14 Cows for America from the library today :)

May 29, 2013, 4:50am Top

I'm reading Life After Life, which is one of the Orange prize nominees (or whatever they call the Orange prize now) and Feeding Frenzy, about international food issues, which is trying to answer the question whether we will be able to feed 9 billion people by 2050. So a cheery read! I think the answer is "yes, as long as the world behaves better" because there is plenty of food, but it's just not getting to everyone who needs it.

Sorry to hear that a computer fix isn't going to happen quickly.

Sorry to hear about the computer problems, but best wishes for the interview!

> ES - 14 Cows for America looks like an interesting story I can't wait for your review......

> susan - Food Frenzy sounds interesting too.... the world probably could feed 9 billion by 2050 if we'd all stop wasting food and get it to all who need it

> roni - thanks... i think it went rather well but I won'tknow any more for 2-3 weeks...

my computer is still out of comission.... at this moment I'm using the xbox to brose LT.... but i can't copy and paste here so i wil be making the short trip to the library soon to post my reviews on the last four books i read and try to catch up on some threads.....

curenty reading ... Chosen at Nightfall by C.C Hunter .... almost finished with it too.... nexton the list Fragments by Dan Wells

Title: The Deen Family Cookbook
Author: Paula Deen

Title: What's up Cupcake
Author: Dana Meachen Rau
Date Finished: 5/28/13
Genre: Hobbies/Cake Decorating
Notes: Not to be mistaken for What's New Cupcake
Opinion: I enjoyed all the ideas in the cupcake decorating idea book... since my daughters birthday is next month I may be checking this one out of the library again!... they make cake decorating look so easy.... but they lie... it is not!

Title: Blood Red Road
Author: Moira Young
Date Finished: 5/31/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia
Notes: first in dustland series
Opinion: I liked this story.... it took me a little while to get used to the dialogue... as there were no quotations when different people were speaking and the author wrote mostly in an accent.... as in how we talk aloud to one another.... sometimes it took me a little bit to figure out which word they were using... and then BAM they would use a big word with no accent and I was like if the characters can think big words like aquisition why couldn't they think or say little word like can't instead of cain't?.... oh well... the story was good... different from a lot of the dystopias I have been reading... interesting...

Title: Whipsers at Moonrise
Author: C.C. Hunter
Date Finished: 6/1/13
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural
Notes: Fourth in the Shadow Falls series
Opinion: Why, in the love triangles in books, do I always root for the underdog... the guy that never gets a chance really?.... With Twilight it was Jacob, Hunger Games it was Gale.... with Whispers at Moonrise I really root for Derek.... these young women don't know a good guy when they see one.... anyway.... the story is starting to drag and I'm kinda glad that there is only one story left in this series.... I am glad to finally know what supernatural Kylie is .... I won't give it away.... but I'm ready for the story to be over now....

Title: Unravel Me
Author: Tahereh Mafi
Date Finished: 6/4/13
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural/Dystopia
Notes: Second in Shatter Me series
Opinion: A pretty good sequel.... made me fallen in love with the villian.... what's wrong with me?... my only problem with it was the main characters pity parties.... until a secondary character told her off about it... which was completely justified!... I enjoyed it....

Title: Chosen at Nightfall
Author: C.C. Hunter
Date Finished: 6/5/13
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural
Notes: Final book in Shadow Falls series
Opinion: Well.... the series is finished.... finally... I was really involved with the first three of the series but the last two left me.... ehhh.... *SPOILER* I always root for the underdog... the guy you know the main character is not going to end up with.... and I knew it was coming but... I still really wanted Kylie to end up with Derek*END SPOILER*.... and then I felt that the ending was rushed.... all that build up.... five freaking books... and that is how you choose to end the story?.... What in the world.... the end fighting scene was like blah.... there were better fights through out the rest of the story... and that's how it ended.... BLAH!

Title: Fragments
Author: Dan Wells
Date Finished: 6/14/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia
Notes: Second in Partials series
Opinion: Well... it was okay for a second book... the characters continued to develop and I was excited to see where everything was going.... but it wasn't the story Partials was.... another second book filler... to last you and give you a little more info about book number three... which I hope there is because I hate to be left hanging...

Title: The Eternity Cure
Author: Julie Kagawa
Date Finished: 6/26/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia/Supernatural
Notes: Second in the Immortal Rules/Blood of Eden series
Opinion: Yay!.... finally a second book in a series that isn't just a filler book... this book picks up right where the first leaves off... the main character is searching for her Vampire sire.... but where many other second books fail this one exceeds expectations.... a story in and of it self you could pick this one up and read without having read the first and not miss anything important!... big bonus.... there is meat to the story not just a large lead up to a third book!.... there is a problem and it is solved by the end.... of course there is a cliff hanger that leaves you wanting more but not one of those build ups that just leave you hanging until the next installment.... if you haven't read either of the two in the Blood of Eden series and you are a fan of YA and vampires and dystopias.... go ahead and try them

Title: The Rules
Author: Stacey kade
Date Finished: 6/28/13
Genre: Young Adult/Sci-Fiction
Notes: Project Paper Doll
Opinion: Wow!... i enjoyed this story immensely.... SPOILER.... although it might not really be much of a spoiler...I didn't read the summary or anything and the cover was intriguing but I was not expecting aliens.... guess I should have it is sci-fi... END SPOILER.... this story was different for me.... I haven't read too much like it and the way it played out left me wanting more... I loved the characters and how they developed into worthy hero in the end... the author did a good job of starting you off without much love for the characters and they just grew to people you could semi-relate to.... maybe not fully... I'm not a teenager... but still I felt invested!.... but overall it was enjoyable

Title: Rise: An Eve Novel
Author: Anna Carey
Date Finished: 6/30/13
Genre: Young Adult/Dystopia
Notes: 3rd and final in the Eve series
Opinion: Really?.... I was a little disappointed with the second book of the series... feeling like a filler book... and then this one was going along so well the was a storyline.... something to work toward and as I was drawing to the end I thought maybe they are setting me up for a fourth book because there is no way they can end it in 30 pages.... and then BAM!.... the end.... I had to flip to the front to see if there would be a fourth installment... but alas NO.... how could you end the story like that?.... seriously I'm so disapointed... I'll rate it higher than the previous one in the series but I'm so sad that the story ended this way that I won't go any higher:(

Title: Starters
Author: Lissa Price
Date Finished: 7/6/13
Genre: Young Adult/Sci-Fi
Notes: first in a series
Opinion: It was different... the cover was creepy and that was why I picked it up... needless to say the story was a little creepy... all the people between the ages of 20 and 60 have died from the Spore Wars because they weren't vaccinated... everyone under 20 (Starters) and over 60 (Enders) live... but new technology has made it possible for Enders to live to be almost 200... starters aren't allowed to work and if they don't have enders to claim them they end up in institutions or as work slaves.... one company working under the radar offers a chance for enders to relive their youth by renting out teenagers.... i totally enjoyed and I'm looking for the sequel at the library TODAY!

Title: Beautiful Creatures
Author: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Date Finished: 7/12/13
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural
Notes: First and a movie
Opinion: Pretty interesting.... especially since most of the YA books I have read are usually told from the heroine's POV.... I was thrown off at first the the main character telling the story was a Dude.... yeah... because most loves stories and supernatural stories that i have read are geared toward ladies and they want them to relate to the character... but I could still totally understand and feel what the main character was feeling and dealling with... Kinda... i'm not in love with a witch nor am I one.... that i have discover yet :)... any one it was pretty good.... i will read the sequal.... and watch the movie now (even though everyone I know that has read the book says the movie is crap)....

Title: Sweet Shadows
Author: Tera Lynn Childs
Date Finished: 7/18/13
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural
Notes: Sequel to Sweet Venom
Opinion: Another sequel that I enjoy... the three sisters characters are starting to get acquainted.... but I feel that the author is getting as in depth with each sister as she should... sometimes the sisters use the same phrases to describe the monsters they smell and it seems out of character for Grace and Greer because it was Gretchen that used the phrase first.... so that irritated me the most.... other than that I enjoyed it very much!

Opinion: I think this was an interesting story... the country is in an economic depression and to make money Amy auditions for a television show... the show turns out to be a reality show that gives the audience a little bit of footage and then has them vote on what the stars of the show will do next... but as the ratings drop the scenarios that the contestants are subjected to gets worse... and a little unethical....
