Can anyone recommend anything on Dance Anthropology or cultural studies particularly relevant to modern, popular theatre dance, or dance in film?

Perhaps The Anthropology of Dance or Anthropology of the Performing Arts, from Amazon. Couldn't say I've read either, but I don't think there's many people on LT interested in anthropology.

Thanks Jaybernstein. I've since read some Williams and Peterson Royce. They both seem very caught up in theory. Too much 'what's a text and what's not' and 'such and such is a metalanguage' for my liking. Maybe I'll be ready for that later. For now, Alexandra Carter's Dance Studies readers are keeping me happy.

I wonder if I should start a dance-specific LT group.
