I am trying to find this book that just came to my head today. It is about this man who keeps recalling his memories from the war and he is trying to write a novel about it. I don't remember what time period it is supposed to be in. However, I remember one scene where he is in the girl's attic for a few days and she can hear the typewriter. She goes up there and they make love. And then there is another scene where she leaves and he is chasing her car down the road and I think that is when he asks her to marry him. I don't remember the author's name or the character's name and I tried to look online for it with no help. Please help me find this. It will drive me crazy until I know.
Thank you!

No, unfortunately not. It is written by a female author I know that for sure. And it is more of a romance novel than anything.

I think he meets this younger girl and there is a scene where they go to a party and they leave to go away. He falls in love with her but then something happens and they meet again years or so later. But he keeps having nightmares of this child or something like that he had experienced in the war.
The only scene I actually remember is the attic one like I had mentioned above.

I think after they meet again, he finally has written down his war past and published into a novel.

Ugh, this is killing me! Haha
