I'll start by saying that EP customer service is great and resolved all of my issues. Just a heads up to check your respective pay source for potential issues regarding EP books purchased lately.

I purchased Stardust in November, opted for 3 "monthly" installments of $33, and was billed my first installment then. In December I was billed 3 more installments on consecutive days ($33 too much) and then automatically received a refund of about $23, which still left me at about $10 overpaid. I just called them and it seemed like they were having some billing issues, but long story short I am to be receiving an additional refund of $9.95 shortly.

I purchased the set of Vietnam Combat Classics on Cyber Monday. The set was already on sale for 6 installments of $45.50. I was weary that there might be billing issues when I tried to stack the already sale price with the Cyber Monday 20% discount. I placed the order and received a confirmation email stating that my first installment would be $36.40. Success, or so I thought. I was just recently billed $52 for my first installment, which is 20% off the non-sale price of the books (which is also more expensive than the books currently are). I called customer service, and although I had to repetitively state that the books were on sale (not regular price) when I purchased them, they eventually agreed to refund me the difference.

So nothing crazy, but just a heads up to always check your CC's :)

If you can afford it, you are always better off just pay the entire thing with one payment, vs. the monthly payment thing.
This way you will know exactly how much you are charged and avoid any surprises.

>1 mortalalliance:: You are too kind, "imho". I personally wouldn't have cut them any slack, after all, it's YOUR dollars at stake, not theirs. If they can't get it right insofar as various discounts vs. one's total bill is concerned, I wouldn't shed any tears for them (boo-HOO!!)

I have started to receive some of the books that I ordered on Cyber Monday but did not receive any billing information with any of them?

>4 GOBOGIE: Yeah. That's happened to me a couple of times lately. The occasional box has been sent without the invoice attached; the invoice would arrive a few days later in a separate envelope. That may be one way that they expedite certain orders...or not.

I no longer pay for EP orders with my credit card, but rather asked to be billed for all orders (even monthly installment orders). Then I pay by check each time an invoice is sent. I did this mainly to not have them storing my credit card information, and to not be charged until I actually received the book(s). One benefit has been that EP seems to use a much faster shipping service when the order is billed rather than charged to a credit card. When I ordered books charged to my credit card it would take 4 to 5 weeks for the books to arrive. The last two orders that I simply had billed arrived in 1 week to 10 days of placing an order. So, it seems when EP gets the money up front, they don't care how long it takes for the books to arrive to the customer, but when they don't get paid until you receive a book they ship much faster so that they get their money! Finally, if you don't like a book and send it back, you aren't out anything, including credit card hassels. I'd say it's worth the price of a stamp to be billed for a book and pay by check.

I definitely don't buy as many books from EP as some on here but the ones that I do, I have noticed that shortly after my CC is charged I receive the books in the mail (usually under 10 days). I guess any longer and I might complain but for now I'm OK with it.

I bought about 8-9 books and they charged me all sorts of random numbers. I did the calculations for the 20% off and I called them and they assured me everything is correct. I'm still really confused what 20% percent means to them. But... I still love Easton Press so all is good.

When there was a discount on my bill of sale, they cut the 20% amount off the first payment while the rest was normal.

After several more charges, I'm still at being overcharged $9.95; not the worst, but I plan on ringing them this week.

I did but I'm still at roughly $120 for the $100 Stardust signed edition. I'm not overly worried about $10, so I was just gonna give it a bit and see if it just magically fixed itself.

It won't you have to call them. It was a glitch during the recent 20% off sale. Both books I ordered were overcharged as the "discount" amount was billed the next day (i.e. two payments of $49.50, first payment discount of $15.00 applied so only $29.50 on credit card, next day, the $15 showed up). I called EP and they assured me my "final" payment would be adjusted rather than my first payment. Sure enough, the full $49.50 was charged on the final payment. In each case I had to call to get the charge corrected.

It's like they have now consistent way of doing this. They did the same to me last year and this year as well, during the 20% off sale.

I'm waiting for the final bill as well but I'm sure I'll have to call lol.

Not honoring the discounted price could be a violation of truth in advertising laws.

They're very helpful with fixing their pricing errors once you tell them about it :)
