Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky - recommended by someone on this list. Very interesting, about France during the second world war, when it was defeated by Germany, and during the occupation. I never read anything about this time in France before
15.
Size 14 Isn't Fat Either by Meg Cabot. Heather Wells is an assistant manager of a dorm at N.Y. College (NYU?) and solves murders. This is the second book and very likable.
Do you know that you can add to your existing thread, and don't have to create a new one every time you post? That way you can keep all your entries together.

A Model Summer by Paulina Porizkova - a young girl is sent to Paris for the summer to model. She encounters a life she never envisioned, and how she deals with it. I can't help but wonder if this is autobiographical - Paulina is a supermodel, and the setting is 1980, so I'm pretty sure it is.
17.
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd.
22.
Catalogue of Death by Jo Dereske - another mystery series, this one about a librarian who solves crime in the Pacific Northwest.
23
The Sunday Philosophy Club by Alexander McCall Smith - a series with an editor of a philosophy journal as the central character. She is a very interesting lady, and the book was really good

25.
The Adultery Diet by Eva Cassady - an editor wants to meet up with an old boyfriend, which causes her to lose weight.

The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon - a really good book based in Sitka Alaska, which is the home of the Jews who were chased out of Israel in 1948. Excellent story
31. Pontoon by Garrison Keillor - cute
32.
The Magician's Assistant by Ann Patchett - I read a review of her new novel, then decided to read some other books by her. This is a very interesting story, but a little far-fetched.
33.
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls - an amazing memoir of someone who survived any incredible childhood with really crazy/irresponsible parents. She has managed to tell the story with sympathy and love.
34. American Diva by Julia London. Okay story, predictable.
36.
BelCanto by Ann Patchett - another one I read because of the author. A group is held hostage in what seems like South America.
37.
Madam of the House by Donna Birdsell - I read because of a recommendation, but really not worth it.
38 Dream When You're Feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg. About WWII and those left behind in Chicago.
39The Star Garden by Nancy E. Turner - the third in a series about Sarah Prine, a rancher in the Arizona Territories in the early 20th century. I really like these novels.

43
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Now I'm up to speed and can finish the saga
44.
The 6th Target by James Patterson - one of the Women's Murder Club mysteries, set in San Francisco. I was just there, and had fun figuring out the locations in the book. A fast read.
