Is there a way to combine two synonymous tags when the other tag does not appear in the 'related tags' field?

Specifically, for the work Mouse Guard and its related smaller comics, the tags "Mouse Guard" and "Mouse Guard series" are obviously synonymous, but one does not appear in the 'related tags' field of the other.

So, is there a way to combine them?

You can combine by pasting the following in the URL bar: http://www.librarything.com/combinetags_... (in this case, http://www.librarything.com/combinetags_...). I've gone ahead and made this combination.

Another option is to go to the tag combination page (e.g., http://www.librarything.com/tagcombine.p...) and enter javascript:combineTags('xxxxx','yyyyy').

One warning: if X has already been combined into Y, and you want to combine Z with them, you have to combine Y and Z. If you combine X and Z, Z won't show up on the page for the combined tag.

Many months ago, I was able to combine tags, by giving both tags to a bunch of my books, and then they came up as possible combinations. I haven't tried this in 6 months, so I don't know whether one can work it this way.

Note, many people in LT are chary about combining tags.
