Currently I am taking a Modern Literature and Sexuality class. The conversations are less about sexuality and more about gender rolls. What are your thoughts on this? Can the two subjects be separted? Should they be?

Honestly, it depends on how you define sexuality. I'm taking an honours seminar on gender and sexuality in World History, and we started with Foucault... so I'm already kind of tired of arguing about what sexuality IS.

I think that the two subjects should be separated, at least semantically, to prevent confusion about what is being discussed.
Has the professor assigned the modern literature to be discussed? I would really recommend Edmund White, Jeanette Winterson, and Max Wolf Valerio as authors of recent interesting work.
