I need some suggestions for naming a baby (gender will be unknown until birth) with an old-fashioned name that also has a nickname. One name idea so far is Charlotte/Charlie. We already have a Josephine/Joey.
Are you looking for boyish nicknames, or just nicknames? Some of my favorites if you're looking for the latter are Eleanor/Elinor (Nell), Helen (also Nell), Frances (Frankie), Georgia/Georgiana (Georgie), Louise/Louisa (Lou), Lucinda (Lucy), Matilda (Tilda/Tillie), Theodora (Theo/Dora), Charles (Charlie), Dexter (Dex), Henry (Harry), Martin (Marty), Nathaniel (Nate), Quentin (Q), and Tobias (Toby).

My vote's for Lucy! :D (To be fair, I also really like Theodora, Tobias, and Dexter.)

I like Lucinda, too. Jane (Jenny) is nice. I had an uncle named Octavus and I wish that name could make a little comeback. Polly is kind of a neat old-fashioned nickname for Mary. Elizabeth has some interesting less-used options too, like Bess. Abby for Abigail works (with a nod and grin to you-know-who). In the Polly/Mary category are also Daisy/Margaret and Sallie/Sally/Sara/Sarah. What about Seb or Bastian for Sebastian?
I love Bastian for Sebastian. Seb, not so much.
Has this baby come along yet? Some old fashioned names in my tree were Margaret nicknamed Maggie, another Margaret nicknamed Peggy (doesn't seem to match but apparently a common nickname once) and Francis nicknamed Frankie.
