They've installed a pretty amazing monument in his honour: all reflective surfaces, divided into about three dozen slices that rotate to scramble and then reform the bust every few seconds. I can't help wondering how long the city will supply power to the thing before turning off the switch and letting it rust together but, in the meantime, pretty impressive.

>1 Cecrow: It looks great.
I suspect the number of tourists stopping to photograph it will dictate the length of time the corporation will keep funding its power requirements.

Hmmm... no... I don't like it.

I think it's horrid. I would hate to have this thing assaulting my vision even as a static monument anywhere in my vicinity, never mind in a state of constant restlessness and perturbation.

I don't like it much, either. It puts me in mind more of Orwell's Big Brother than of Kafka. I could see why they'd want a tribute to Kafka somewhere in Prague, but, for me, the only monument to Kafka they really need is that castle.
Also, small point of information, or of opinion, anyway. The linked short piece about the statue refers to Prague as a "soul-sucking city." I was there 10 years ago and didn't find it to be that at all. Quite the opposite, I found it delightful.
