On the theory quoted in the subject line, I hereby invite everyone to post any funny pictures, jokes or (short) stories here.

I'll start:

I once saw one that was fully vertical. Woulda got a photo if I hadn't been in a moving car at the time.

Oct 24, 2007, 11:23am Top

My cat...um...well, see for yourself :)

Oct 24, 2007, 11:36am Top

Wow! Your black cat is as huge as mine is! Last vet visit, 19 lbs. for mine! Will crop some pics to a web-suitable size when I get home from work...

Oct 24, 2007, 11:44am Top

Haha yeah, Asimov is pretty huge. I don't know just how big, but it's always funny to visit a friend with 'normal'-sized cats - they all look like kittens to me.

Oct 24, 2007, 2:05pm Top

A friend of the family had a similarly huge cat when I was... let's call it "similarly little" shall we? This led to some interesting stories, including the first vet visit. They couldn't find a big enough cat carrier and ended up using a dog carrier -- which in turn led to some confusion at the vet's office.

Oct 24, 2007, 2:22pm Top

Here it's not so much the "what" as the "where" that's funny.

Oct 24, 2007, 4:01pm Top

I can't stop giggling at these cats http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3U0udLH974 (absolutely work safe).

I only have one cat; do multiples act this way when together?

Oct 24, 2007, 4:05pm Top

I love it when kitties "melt" into the table or chair or wherever. Blue's cat looks like she's been left in the sun too long.

Oct 24, 2007, 4:17pm Top

Aw, that's sweet, though no doubt they are plotting what mischief to commit once their human has left the house!

do multiples act this way when together?

Some do, some don't. My two current kitties (Marissa and Lilith) often curl up close and groom each other, but my late Mr. Mojo and Lilith rarely did.

Oct 24, 2007, 9:31pm Top

That video is priceless! My cats don't do that when they're together, I've never seen anything like that!

Having a hard time finding a pic that really shows how huge Halfnut is, but you can sort of tell on this one. And just so she doesn't feel left out, here's one of my other cat, Scully. I always tend to think of her as being a small cat, because she's dwarfed by Halfnut, but when other people see her, they make comments like, "Wow, that's a BIG cat!"

#4 - bluesalamanders

I feel as if I've been reading a lot about Asimov today! My cat Willie weighed in at 25lbs at one point. After a strict vet-sponsored diet, he's now just under 15lbs. He was also crowned the 2006 UK Pet Slimmer of the Year! :)

But that's not really funny. So I'll add this:

Oct 26, 2007, 12:06pm Top

I have absolutely no idea what the "Times Square Shuffle" is. I've told people that I know the Herald Square Shuffle since I work near there, but Times Square is good hike to our north.

Oct 26, 2007, 12:08pm Top

Is that a dance?? ;)

Oct 26, 2007, 12:13pm Top

Which shuffle? I can't speak to the Times Square one, after all.

Oct 26, 2007, 12:14pm Top

Oh, I meant the Times Square Shuffle. Sorry!

Oct 26, 2007, 12:29pm Top

And here's another cat video. (I've still got the window open in case "embed" doesn't work.)

Oct 26, 2007, 12:30pm Top

It didn't.

Can anyone tell me how to work that embed thing?

Oct 26, 2007, 12:32pm Top

Not sure if LT lets you embed videos and i think most would prefer to have a link anyway.

Oct 26, 2007, 12:32pm Top

It won't work on LT, Tim blocked access to certain code functions for security reasons.

Resurrecting this thread, with a disclaimer: this is not -- I repeat, is not -- the same pair of one-way signs featured in the first post.

I know I have a link to this on Flickr saved on my computer at home, but a fat lot of good that does me at work, right?

Reviving this thread with a link to very stand-up routine on a subject that's really not off-topic.

Edited: Sep 17, 2008, 11:12pm Top

Hmmm..... 6:30 doesn't seem late enough for me to have gotten myself that confused (dropped words and all that). But it is funny and worth a click.

For a slightly different kind of humor....

That's not my photo, so I'm sure a clickthrough would be appreciated.

Note that the pumpkins are uncarved in this picture. Presumably they need to keep the microphones hidden. :)
