Hi! I am trying to find a book that I might have read a bit more than 15 years ago. It is set in the late 1800s to early 1900s? ( I speak under correction) from england and india. It is about a young obviously beautiful women who was married to an older lord and is unhappy in her marriage. she meets this stranger-an indian prince who is instantly attracted to her and offers her a way out of her marriage if she leaves with him and becomes one of his concubines. She also tells her daughter whom she leaves behind about it. When she get there she goes through the cleansing rituals. Meets up with all his wives and the injustices of women who are burned when there husbands die. Also there is some fornication with horses. (strange I know) Could someone please help me?? I constantly have the word peacock in my head when Im thinking about this book. It may be part of the title.
