I'm doing a study of a Massachusetts cemetery with burials from about 1765-1840. Many of the verses that appear on the stones are readily-identifiable Biblical verses, and others are obviously gravestone-specific. But some look as though they might be hymns or parts of hymns. Would anyone happen to recognize any of these first lines:

Now my last charge to you I give
Jesus the ancient faith confirms
When Christ ascends his humble throne
Sweet Jesus look down from
Preserve O Grave inviolate
Fresh in the morn the summer rose

On "Now my last charge to you I give" check out 2 Timothy 4:1 as possible source. I love your research as I'm a genealogist with lots of New England roots. Les LeMay "lopemopay"
