I think I should make a CD rack. How do I go about it with minimal craft skills past a knowledge of Design and Technology that I dropped as a subject in Year Ten, which is now rustier than an iron gate in a Tim Burton movie...
How should I go about it?
Hmmm. Depends upon what sort of tools you have (or can get access to).
But, regardless of how fancy you want to get, a good starting point is to look at Home Depot's aspen boards in 6" x 24" x 1/2". (Buying the precut boards saves a lot of work, and gives you some consistently square edges to work with.)
Figure out how many shelves you want, and buy their nice 6" poplar in the appropriate length for the uprights.
If you have or can borrow a drill, use screws instead of nails.
(Email me if you want me to talk you through it. I have a bit of experience in building bookcases....)
