Did anyone else receive the promo email to spend $100 and choose from 6 books? Which did you choose?

I purchased Bill Nye's Signed Unstoppable and got Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates!

I've had my eye on Unstoppable for a bit but this was the push I needed - Bill Nye was a huge part of my childhood and I'm looking forward to having this rather sentimental piece in my collection.

You have to follow the link in your email to get the promo - ends tonight 4/11

The 6 Free Books:

Chicago's Big Teams - The illustrated reference to the legendary teams of America's great city.

Chronicle of Flight - The inspirational illustrated history of human flight.

The Classic Era of American Comics - An incomparable illustrated history of American comics.

Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates - The classic book of pirate stories by America's great illustrator.

Shakespeare's Henry VI - Shakespeare's three-part dramatic history of the English king.

The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary - A fully-illustrated tribute to the beloved movie.

I did not receive an e-mail for this promotion! Wonder why....this is the first time I haven't received one...

Hmmm, not sure. It did say "just for you," but I assumed I wasn't that special for it to be only for me lol

Hmmm - Mine said "just for you" also... I think we are being played 😂😂😂

Now that I'm thinking about it, and checking my deleted e-mails, I haven't received anything from EP since March 12th...I used to get 2-3 emails per day.

Did they get marked as spam? Either that or you may have gotten unsubscribed somehow

Sounds like you need to make another purchase to get on the good list ;)

>7 TeaAndHoney: Not sure! They are definitely not in spam. I signed up again so we'll see. Some users have claimed that they don't receive e-mails even though they've signed up...

I'm signed up for Signed Modern Classics and just recently purchased Tolkien's Lost Tales set, The Story of Kullervo, and Angels in America so I should be on the good list! A portion of my tax return went to them last month too so I know I'm doing my part :)

I made two orders for the promotion, buying Outlander and The Windup Girl. For both I selected Shakespeare's Henry VI which I think is an amazing deal as it was the three volume edition with $225 price tag by itself. I'll keep one for myself and gift the other set. Unfortunately, for those that didn't get the email or are purchasing now, Henry VI is now sold out.

I might pickup the Bill Nye volume you mention tonight and select Pyle's Book of Pirates also. I love it when EP offers actual books for this deal instead of the typical coffee table junk.

Wow! Great purchases, congrats. I'd definitely give them a call and see what's up - maybe they can extend the offer for you

Great idea on two sets - I had a hard time choosing between Henry VI and Pirates. Kind of sad it's sold out now! This was a great promo, do they do these often?

>11 TeaAndHoney:

I would say they do it approximately 4-6 times per year. The last one was late January/ early February. However the free book offerings typically aren't "great." This deal's free book selection and February's free book selection have been the best two I've seen honestly.

Got Underground Railroad signed edition and the Book of Pirates

I've gotten at least three emails regarding this sale. The last one sent, today, did not include Henry VI, implying that it sold out (finally). Theoretically, I snagged a copy but I'll believe it when I see it.

I seem to get the $100 offer only after I place an order. I don't know if this is coincidence or targetted. I literally haven't purchased any new titles since January, purchased Tolkien's Kullervo, and the next day got the offer. So I ordered two more books and then ordered Henry VI.

>10 TeaAndHoney: Good idea, I sent them an e-mail this morning and Maryann was able to help me out with my order.

>13 Martin3: I did the same as you, they must've just listed "The Underground Railroad" yesterday afternoon, good eye!

I signed up again for e-mail alerts so I'll have to keep an eye out for new e-mails and find out why they aren't going through!

Seems like this expired yesterday...
And Shakespeare is no longer available. I choose Pirates...aaargh! Also it was a good incentive to finally get Rabelais, of which there are about 5 copies left...

I think it's a coincidence. I haven't ordered anything since late last year but received ample notification of this sale. It might be a "have you ordered from us within the last X months" thing, though.

I'd have to check through my old emails to verify but it seemed to me like this sale appears about once a quarter.

I never seem to get these email promotions even though I've asked to be included on their lists and purchase pretty regularly throughout the year. So I always appreciate the heads up from this forum.

I emailed them and was able to participate--ordered The Underground Railroad and Little Women DLE with Pirates as my free one. I had put off buying the Little Women DLE as the cover design seemed kind of drab online. I like the new "real life" photos they've been taking of many of the books, though--those made me give the Little Women DLE a try.

Thanks again for these promotional alerts. I've depended on you all for several deals over the past couple of years.

It's too bad we can't just forward a link to you, or for everyone's benefit, just post links to each sale on this forum.

Have you tried using a different email address?

>22 treereader:

We should be able to forward the email that EP sends us to anyone and I think the links for the deal should still be valid.

I'll be sure to announce the next promotion via email I get. If anyone hasn't gotten it and wants it, I can just forward it to you.

I guess I was imagining that the emails were keyed to each specific recipient but...haha...who are we kidding? This is Easton Press we're talking about. I bet you're right, that forwarding the emails will work just fine.

Just received an email from Easton Press; neither of my free book selections for Henry VI went through as the book became OOS.

I understand one being cancelled, but seriously, both of them?!

Has anyone else been successful in getting a copy of Henry VI shipped?

26AgaEP

Got the same message. It feels a little like bait and switch. There were only 12 or so when they offered the free books. Who does that? I asked them what other titles of similar retail value they could offer. No response so far.

Oh no! That's awful. I chose Pirates and Chronicle of Flight. I guess they underestimated the interest in the promotion?

It might also be a website/software issue. I've always wondered how accurate their script is for the "Only ___ Left!" books...

Either way though, like you said, they should not have offered Henry VI on the promotion with such little inventory given that the software might not be reliable

My Pirates got shipped out yesterday and Chronicle of Flight is listed as next Tuesday

Let us know if you find a compromise

They forced me to pick another book from the original list. I ended up cancelling one of my orders altogether and now will be receiving the Book of Pirates instead of Henry VI.

I did get my copy of Henry VI, although I ordered it immediately when this came out, and called to make sure it went in. Either the early order helped, I got lucky, or they took pity on me since I have most other Shakespeare books they have published.

The 3 boxes came in a larger brown box. Each was coated in dust and looked like they had been in the warehouse for a long time. Each of the red leather is a different shade; one a bight red, one a touch orange, and one a deep red. But I don't really care. Good deal.

My account indicates that they have shipped. I had ordered a DLE and was thinking that perhaps that's why I'm likely to get a set since I didn't order particularly early.

>29 hamletscamaro: One of my gripes about this set is the different shades of leather used. I was fortunate enough to find a complete set that matched quite well.
