Can anyone recommend good books on portrait drawing/painting? Thanks!

'500 Portraits' by The Phaidon Press. Although it's not an instruction manual, it is a beautiful book that should give you plenty of inspiration.

Thank you! Is it "500 Self-Portraits"? This book was what I was able to find:

If you're looking for how-to books, I'd recommend anything by Lee Hammond. Her best known is probably How to Draw Lifelike Portraits from Photographs. She used to work primarily in pencil and colored pencil. I think recently her books have expanded into acrylics.

Another favorite is Ann Kullberg. My favorite is Colored Pencil Portraits: Step-By-Step.

I've participated in workshops from both of these talented ladies.

I'll try to remember to make a list of some of my other favorites when I go upstairs to my art room later tonight.
